He hasn't fought any decent competition yet and his power is not the same as early in his career. He's got a lot of work ahead him.

They are not in the same division
If they aren't trying to teach him traditional offense + defense, living on youthful reflexes and flexibility is a limited loan. Once those things are gone...he's gone. He's never going to beat an elite, complete fighter / boxer. Hopefully he's gaining those attributes.

@Return of Me which is why he faded badly in his mid 30s, he was totally reliant on his reflexes, once they were gone he was shot and lost to inferior fighters.
Return of Me Roy Jones fought way different than Ryan though he actually had defensive skills

Muhaq Richard I think he means that Garcia pushes himself with legs up when he's punching but it's the basical boxing technique and pointing it out is pretty stupid tho. So maybe he meant something else but now I think this is unlikely

He is sacrificing defense for speed. Here is an example in MMA. Try throwing a horizontal elbow with your hand in front of your face to defend against your opponent's elbow. Its a lot slower than throwing a horizontal elbow without your defense hand. It doesn't matter if he gets slower when he is older. It doesn't matter what age you are at, sacrificing defense will always result in faster attacks.

I like this style of fighting....IMHO it seems to me, fighters like this, when they step up the level of opposition, either get exposed quite quickly.......or they go on to be very exciting and special fighters. Fighters whose defense relies heavily on their reflexes, who use a hands down style to bait in their opponent and then punishes them with fast counterpunching and equally fast hand speed. Also seems to me, when they DO loose, they loose pretty bad, I dont think its a style that ages well, when the fighter gets older and looses his reflexes, they get caught more often. Obviously thinking of RJJ, whilst saying this.

Haven't seen one video where he shows any defensive skill. You look up Teofimo, Shakur, Devin and all other prospects and they all show more skill than Ryan
@@nemesysxr0163 you can't say no defense and no combination . If you re defensive then you re unlikely to to throw combinations cause you re open to counter. He reminds me of carlos monzon , he might not be versed in defense but he keeps it safe

He will piss off a certain type of fan because he's a cocky pretty boy, but I've been following him from the beginning and am starting to think he's not just a hype job with fast mitts and a nice mug. He has a toughness to him, and he should only get better (though I haven't seen him chin-checked hard yet). I'd put him behind Devin Haney and Brandon Figueroa, though, in terms of class, but he's got the crossover/De La Hoya appeal to put female butts in the seats so he won't want for opportunities even if he does finally underperform at the elite level.
