Oh boy. What a disaster indeed. It's honorable of you to share your experience, even though it came to this. Hopefully someone can learn from this. Thank you for sharing this video. I hope nothing bad has happened so far.
@@RyanShanePalmer That's very good to hear. Even more commendable of you to make a video of this experience then. I take this as you no longer being in Thailand? Kinda surprising, I thought you were still there. Did you ever get a license? I've heard they are quite cheap and only takes a couple of days to get. I'd be interested in hearing about the encounters with police you've had, given you were driving around without a proper license. That alone is what makes me determined to get it sorted, once I'm heading to Thailand in a short while. The feeling not having to worry about it seems to make it worth it.
I'm sorry to say, but i just had a feeling that this was a bad idea when i saw you buying the bike under Kick's name. Oh well, we live and we learn don't we!
Can you buy a bike with european licence or does it need to be thai licence??? Tnks. Can you buy with a car licence or does it need to be motorbike licence?
You can buy a brand new 2022 for $1k USD that has a 2-3 year factory warranty instead of trying to save a few hundred dollars getting for a used one, risking mechanic issues and your safety in a foreign country.
Just came across your channel and subscribed. As a seasoned Thailand visitor I was cringing and laughing at your mistakes (sorry). Just curious if you ever got it all straightened out? Also, I appreciate your video trying to help others.
Oh, well, thanks for sharing. I must admit that I had a strange feeling right at the moment she said she can put it in her name. I was strugglig to imagine this nice girl could do anything bad, but I was feeling there must be something going on, once the bike was in her name. So did she get her divorce and you got all things sorted out with her? Did you marry her afterwards...to get your bike's papers? 555
One mistake I'd say is to get a Thai owned bike like a Wave over a farang owned bike like a PCX. Fatangs do things like maintenance, Thais don't.
That is true haha
Very informative Ryan,,,,thanks again
Glad you enjoyed it.
So nice of you to buy the girl a scooter.
Haha heart of gold.

Thanks for watching. This was the worst experience during my time in Thailand and in long run it wasn't that bad.

Simple rule of thumb. Don’t buy until you have all the documents that you need in hand
Exactly
Cheers for the info
Since when you need a driving licence to buy a motorbike?....never hear about this before
I think post covid they have cracked down. I am sure there are loop holes though.
They sold him a pig in a poke.

Yeah, it was a disaster haha.
Looks like it’s going to be an awesome adventure!
So far so good.
Thank you for sharing your journey Ryan :)
Thanks for watching.
Good idea to wear a helmet
I usually do, this day was an exception.

You need a Thai license. I am not sure about you second question.
Ok cheers mate.@@RyanShanePalmer
@@RyanShanePalmer You do not need a Thai DL to purchase a motorbike...
Did you ever do a follow-up video on your disappearing scooter girlfriend?
Did you ever get that scooter transferred onto your name?
Haha no it turned into a headache. In the end I left the scooter with my muay thai coach.
Awesome 🙏🇦🇺🇹🇭🥇
Thanks Darren

Exactly, but mugs do not know that.
You don't need a doer permit

I know, live and learn. She moved up north with her mother. I got all the papers and use the bike regularly. Thanks for watching.
