As soon as I saw this video I ordered some cages from Bruno. I really like how the workers can go in and out of the cage. Anyway, I just finished the oxalic drip at the 24 day mark and, damn. It feels so satisfying to see all those dead mites. Thanks for the tip.
No, selling queens is actually of very little income in comparison to honey!! I cannot produce enough queens here to sell profitably. It would help but not as good as using them to Make good nucleus colonies for my own increases in spring ,,replacement or selling for profit!! But thank you anyway!! 🐝
Honey loss?? Have you are held a queen cage in your hand or just came to comment? Honey yield, for your knowledge, increases not decreases with caged queens. Years of practise have shown that.
One step forward two sets back. Possibly could have been raising the bees that will raise the winter bees, missed brood cycle. More likely the syrup budget will increase this fall, many less foragers going forward. Keep up the good show M8, we are rooting for you.

Interesting video Richard. I’m sure this is all going to pay off come next spring.
You're going to have a great Spring and if you get a flow more honey barrels than ever!

not true. the bees, which exited during the brood brake, will be able to raise the brood later since the FB is not used.
@@kestutisgaralevicius3817 how long have you been keeping bees?
@@sidelinerbeekeeper too long.
nice, thank you.
what month richard ,liking this technique, for brood break 24 days
Hopefully the Asian Hornets stay away , do you have European Hornets around ?
Do you leave any supers of honey on for the bees through winter?
I noticed my queens looked much larger after caging.
