    Thank you John, you really saved me for my final exam! You really explained a topic in a crystal clear way! Hope to see more videos alike!

    Great explanation! I'm not a beginner and have been using Wordfast for years. I always feel that good "for beginners" tutorials tend to have tips we don't know about, so I recommend to watch them even as a more advanced used. I got some new interesting tips out of this. Thanks!

    So just so I know I am understanding this correctly. The translation memory stores previous translations and WordFast uses them to provide auto translated texts/suggestions for future projects. Right?
    Also, are there TMs available for download or does every translator need to build their own?

    Hello John, thanks for your kind efforts and explanations. Can we use already translated word files to import into translation memory ? Kind Regards

    • @WordfastTM
      @WordfastTM  3 года назад

      Yes, you should use an alignment tool for that. Wordfast offers several of them: www.wordfast.net/wiki/Alignment

    Hello ! I'm using Wordfast for work now, and I have trouble understanding some features, could you enlighten me ? We translate but need to be corrected by someone, so we can't commit our translation if it hasn't been corrected by our official correcting guy. If I click the "translated" button (that goes from grey to blue), does it write my sentence in the MT or does it just decount what's left to be translated (and if so, I'll need to commit it explicitly by using "commit all" or the "next segment" thing to commit one segment after another),? (because at first i clicked it, so that i could see how far I was with translating the document, and how many words were left to be translated. And then I thought that maybe it did more than that and wrote my translations into the MT. And I can't seem to find the answer anywhere) Thanks for the help !

      Normally, when you complete a segment, you should use the alt+down arrow shortcut to commit the translated segment to the TM, mark it as translated and move to the next segment. You can also click the Next Segment icon. You can later change your translation and re-commit it to the TM (using next segment or commit icons/shortcuts). When you have someone revise your work, do you send them your project as a package? Are you using a remote TM or a local TM? When working in teams, you would generally use remote TMs. If the reviser gets your package and updates your translation, they would typically overwrite what you had previously put in the TM.

    Thank you so much for your video. It's so useful for me. But I have a question that is how can I open the TM file after translating? I have searched for that TM file path but I can't find any file with TMX format. Hope to receive your reply soon. Thanks a lot

      Under Current Project view, click on Project TM, then double click on the TM you want to open.

    You have turned off the MT translation in the beginning, so my Wordpro will not translate automatically when I come to the next segment. How do I turn it on?

      Open up Preferences, go to Machine Translation section:
      1. Change radio button to “Always show…”
      2. Tick both checkboxes (“Allow all…” and “Remove MT score…”)
      3. Tick MT engines you want to use and provide API credentials as necessary.

      You likely have one or more missing tags in your translation. You should run Tag Check (part of Transcheck) to identify any missing tags or tags that are not in the correct order. You can also run pseudotranslate on the original source file to make sure the file is compatible with Wordfast. If pseudotraslation works, the problem lies in something that happened during the translation session, generally a missing tag but could also be caused by a bug when splitting/merging segments.

      Where is the TM located on your hard drive? It should not be in a dropbox or other file sync folder. Make sure your anti-virus is not blocking access to the location.
