The Fellowship of the Church

In John’s first epistle, he writes to discouraged believers, calling them to be devoted to Christian fellowship, not elite spiritual experiences. Unlike worldly fellowship which is earned, the only way to enter into the fellowship of believers is through faith in Christ’s imputed righteousness. Because of Jesus, every believer shares the same unifying foundation-the same Father, the same Savior, and the same Spirit, enabling us to love and serve one another with joy. At the cross, Jesus was forsaken so that all who trust in him can have fellowship, both with one another and with the triune God.
