One tip for you :) If you don't have perma brew, just t3 or t4 alchemist - don't get caltrops on ninjas. They use the alc stacks so fast, because they count as attacks similarly to the spike factory :)

I think custom maps neither party knows beforehand would be good for this, too. This could even be done in a tournament-style format and would likely help out all those involved in having more exposure.

Why didn't you start on round 1 for more flexibility and money instead of giving yourself so much starting cash?
He did this on hard mode. Hard mode automatically starts you on round 3 with a set amount of cash, being $650.
