Barracuda Bay is the set that pulled me back into Lego after something like 20 years. Even at full retail price of 200 it was a great value compared to most sets available now.
Harbor Master from Bricklink is even better than the Old Fishing store. I don’t understand why people like the old fishing store so much when it doesn’t even have any water.
Completely ignored Voltron when it was available also. I sold my Batmobile when the prices started to increase shortly after retirement but now I totally regret it….
I love that Voltron set! I had the same model in toy form as a child, fond memories 😊

A friend who has a Skull's Eye Schooner set she got as a kid when it first came out, still complete with the original box and everything, invited us to a "Lego day" where we built it again together, and I loved it so much that I wanted to get a ship for myself. I remembered the Barracuda Bay set and looked it up onlne... it had been retired just a month earlied. I still intend on getting one somehow.
Still kicking not getting the Voltron set. Both for the nostalgia being a kid in 80s, but it also went on pretty heavy discount before retired. Also the Tower of Orthanc LOTR set that was easily available and even was on a discount towards the end of its run. Finally, is the LEGO Simpsons home set. Very attainable at the time.
The Chinese new year’s dragon is the one set I regret most: great set, plenty unique bricks. Making it next to impossible to pick up individual bricks to build it anyways. It got pulled off the shelves recently which caught me off guard. Wanted to pick it up with Black Friday. Oh well life goes on w/o a set I wanted to pick up
I started collecting when Star Wars had their last Death Star and Betrayal on Cloud City were out. I wish I would have gotten at least the Death Star but I had no clue at that point any of the things like retirement and such. Oh well, maybe one day I will get the chance to get one if they release another at some time. Love that Voltron too.
Yeah, I very nearly bought the Death Star once, just before it retired. Whilst it would have been nice to have, I don't really regret it. I'm just not a big enough Star Wars fan for it to bother me as much as other sets I've missed.
Great video. Thanks for sharing all these great sets, it makes a change from all the Black Friday deals videos out there at the mo 😂 I had to have Barracuda Bay. Initially I displayed it as the bay but now it’s displayed as the ship with my moc sea base plate.
I am a bit sad that i did not buy the Ghostbusters Headquarter, and poof, it was gone... 89 Batmobile... My girlfriend asked me, what i would like more, the Batwing, or the car... and since the Batwing was a bit cheaper, i went with the Batwing, not knowing, the Batmobile would be gone a few months later...
Ninjago city and docks are totally worth it. I have all 4 sets on a shelf above my computer monitor. I don’t regret getting them at all and are worth picking up today second hand.
The only set I have on your list is Ewok Village. I do regret not getting some of the older castle sets but I was going through college and moving out on my own. I have the Lion Knight's Castle on my list to get, but waiting for a better price.
The 2 ninjago cities, Barracuda Bay and Apocalipseburg are the ones I missed as well - and I am the target audience for all of them ... I guess I just missed them waiting for better offers. My biggest regret though is not getting the dungeon masters Castle at 1200 Euro ,,, it's 5 K now T_T
They're all sets that were discontinued during my dark ages, so I guess I can't regret not buying them before they retired. I ended up buying the top 4 over the past couple of years, with the top 3 at hugely inflated prices. I also got the Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters and Destiny's Bounty well after they retired. While I massively overpaid for them, the prices since have continued to go up, so I'm glad I didn't wait any longer. I am thinking about buying another copy of the Pirates of Barracuda Bay so I can have one as the shipwreck island, and one as a fully complete Black Barracuda ship. I've bought multiples of some sets to have the variants built up, like Optimus Prime, the DeLorean, the Porsche 911 Turbo/Targa, and the Great Pyramid of Giza (to build a complete pyramid).
I bought the Lego Creator Pirate Ship, then over a few months I bought a heap of extra pirate minifigures from Ebay and Bricklink. Then we got the Shark Island GWP set that is a great side piece to the pirate ship. With both of those sets its definitely a bit more shelf friendly than the Barracuda Bay set.
I knew LotR & Hobbit sets would increase in value but I missed. Batman tv show Batmobile ( speed champs size )/w/ Batman & Joker. Lots of cool sets from when I was out of Lego from 2010-2020. I did get pirates of Barracuda bay but would’ve been cool to get a 2nd to keep in box.
Barracuda Bay was formally on my list and I regretted so much not picking it up when it was on sale. Kicked my self for so long about it lol. That I happened to be mentioning it to a friend that worked at a local Bricks and Mini. As we're talking about this a guy walks in wanting to sell his complete and in box Pirates of Barracuda Bay, I bought it on the spot lmao
Glad you made this video, I am happy as I have the first 3 Ninjago sets, city, docks and now gardens. I agree with a lot of the regrets you made. I am lucky I have the old shack and Apocalypseburg. As well as a few others of your regrets, I dont have the first 5 modulars, BUT you are lucky as you have the Ghostbusters HQ and other things many do not have. I would have made the same decision you did at the time. Luckily Simpsons is coming back 2025 so there's that
I'm very picky with what sets I buy. I did buy the bonsai set and did my own design with the cherry blossoms, but most of it was using the instructions. I still intend on getting the ideas fishing shack eventually. Trying to transition with my life since I'm officially solo and I need to find a new interest in a hobby...... Perhaps this is the time I get back into Lego or models........ Great video as usual. I think you might like Tetris forever........... Tetris time warp.......lols 🤣😁😂
I got back into LEGO during a time in my life when I needed a hobby due to other life stuff being difficult. as well as helping during that time, it has stuck ever since.
I held Emerald Night and then decided I wanted a modern train not old steam train. Well that was a decision that I have regretted every single day for the last 15 years. Cafe Corner and Greengrocer also hurt, I did not get those because I was in an argument with Lego refusing to reimburse me for postage when they agreed to after they sent me two UCs Y Wings by mistake, so I was not ordering any Lego from them, only buying from shops that did not have them.

Yeah, it was a pretty amazing set!
Barracuda Bay hurts me of course, but so does the Old Fishing Store
100%
Harbor Master from Bricklink is even better than the Old Fishing store. I don’t understand why people like the old fishing store so much when it doesn’t even have any water.
Oh 100%, wish I'd got the old fishing store. There's no way I'm dropping almost 500 quid on that set.
@@alanbuxey Right behind you Alan
Look at that Voltron Set! Amazing!
And I really liked hearing the back story of every set you didn’t buy 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have 4 of these: Welcome to Apocalypseburg, Voltron, Barracuda Bay and the first Ninjago City.
Nice!
Very nice list but for me that Voltron would have been number 1!
Completely ignored Voltron when it was available also. I sold my Batmobile when the prices started to increase shortly after retirement but now I totally regret it….
Man, yeah owning it then selling it adds to the regret!
I love that Voltron set! I had the same model in toy form as a child, fond memories 😊

One day, mate. There are always bargains to be found if you wait long enough.

It always seems to be the ones that were on big discounts that cost the most on the after market!
The Chinese new year’s dragon is the one set I regret most: great set, plenty unique bricks. Making it next to impossible to pick up individual bricks to build it anyways. It got pulled off the shelves recently which caught me off guard. Wanted to pick it up with Black Friday. Oh well life goes on w/o a set I wanted to pick up
I’m very jealous that you have the Ghostbusters fire station. That’s on my list as well as Voltron.
Yeah, I was lucky to get that one for a good price!
I started collecting when Star Wars had their last Death Star and Betrayal on Cloud City were out. I wish I would have gotten at least the Death Star but I had no clue at that point any of the things like retirement and such. Yeah if it released these days, I'd probably buy 2 of them to display both!
@ Here’s mine. I bet there were a lot of people who grabbed 2. I trust you’ve grabbed an Eldorado Fortress 🏰
I certainly have!
Ah, man that's a shame. The Batwing is great, too, but that Batmobile is amazing.
Got lucky and found Voltron for a great price!
Ninjago city and docks are totally worth it. I have all 4 sets on a shelf above my computer monitor. I don’t regret getting them at all and are worth picking up today second hand.
I'll get them......one day!
Voltron is definitely on my list, too. Having said that, it was released prior to me getting serious about collecting LEGO.
Yeah, there are always sets that retired just before you get back into LEGO. It's very annoying! Haha.
The only set I have on your list is Ewok Village. I do regret not getting some of the older castle sets but I was going through college and moving out on my own. I have the Lion Knight's Castle on my list to get, but waiting for a better price.
Those are all really well-designed and great looking sets.
Yeah, really great sets.
Sorry, but I have the Voltron set brand new sealed and the box is in perfect condition.
Opened and built mine arm broke recently at the ball joint from always holding his sword up😢
Ah, no. Is it a part you can replace through something like Pick and Build or Bricklink?
I am in the same situation with modulars. I need the first 3. Been keeping an eye out for a good deal on Green Grocer!
Fingers crossed!
They're all sets that were discontinued during my dark ages, so I guess I can't regret not buying them before they retired.

I've bought multiples of some sets to have the variants built up, like Optimus Prime, the DeLorean, the Porsche 911 Turbo/Targa, and the Great Pyramid of Giza (to build a complete pyramid).
Nice, yeah I've found myself doubling up on certain sets in the last few years so that I can modify them.
Nice, that sounds like a great display!
My only regret with Voltron...is that I didn't buy 2! To display both the Lion's and Voltron at the same time!
Didn’t even know Voltron was a set…FML
I knew LotR & Hobbit sets would increase in value but I missed. Batman tv show Batmobile ( speed champs size )/w/ Batman & Joker. Lots of cool sets from when I was out of Lego from 2010-2020. I did get pirates of Barracuda bay but would’ve been cool to get a 2nd to keep in box.
Yeah, I got a couple of the LotR/Hobbit sets and the smaller 60s batmobile. But Barracuda Bay was definitely a big miss for me.
What an absolute result! Nice one mate.
I'm a massive Batman fan and also got the 1989 batmobile and the 1960 batcave on eBay after retirement. After that, mine would be the fishing store.
Yeah, a great set. Thankfully I got that one before it was gone.
Probably the best Ideas set they ever made.
That Ghostbusters HQ is great too.
Yeah, it really is.
Glad you made this video, I am happy as I have the first 3 Ninjago sets, city, docks and now gardens. I agree with a lot of the regrets you made. I am lucky I have the old shack and Apocalypseburg. Yeah it's important to remember that for every set you feel you've missed out on, you probably got something other people would regret not getting.
Switch collection and Lego! Did we just become best friends?
Is the GhostBusters HQ the right scale for the Ecto 1 model?
Yes, I believe it is.
I got back into LEGO during a time in my life when I needed a hobby due to other life stuff being difficult. as well as helping during that time, it has stuck ever since.
I keep saying to my wife, “ Those Ninjago sets look so cool.” I cant get into another genre.
You and me both!
I have all the modulars, a couple of the Pirates of Barracuda bay, and all of the Ninjango city sets.
Thats a great collection!
you should watch Lone ranger. :) It s a nice western movie. And you should watch animated western movie Rango.
I held Emerald Night and then decided I wanted a modern train not old steam train. Well that was a decision that I have regretted every single day for the last 15 years. I feel you with that. I hating giving companies money if they've done something to me I felt was out of order at some point.
Fantastic video, with so many sets retiring this year, i think alot of people will regret a few non purchases in a couple of years
Completely agree!
I have a sealed Apocalypseburgh set
i also regret not getting lego ninjago city and especially ewok village. both go for $700-$1000 now a days -_-
Yeah, crazy prices!
I still keep looking for the Temple of Airjitsu set. Big miss for me.
Yeah, that and Monkie Kid's Flower Fruit Mountain are another couple that I could have mentioned.
I regret not buying the Ewok Village
Me too!
I share your grief about the Pirates of Barracuda Bay!
Haha, annoying isn't it!
And you should buy new eldorado fortress..
Got that one, thankfully.
@@GBBricks-Yt I have it too. I bought it a week ago. 😀
Lego Disney Train
7:00 unfortunately, I have been hurtling down that slippery slope since 2017 🥺🛷🛝💸💸💸
Yeah, I can understand it. I've done it with other things myself.
