Thanks for your hard work Hamsa. This subject is very useful as it applies to almost every facility.
Just wanted to add a couple points. Liquid seals become less and less popular as flash back prevention device at least here in Canada. The reason is that glycol concentrations drop over time when mixed with water vapour from relief fluids. Therefore, it’s freeze protection concerns.
Also, usually purge or some people say sweep gas is used to maintain slightly positive pressure in the flare header. Same as pilot gas, purge gas is supplied from critical fuel gas header designed to ensure that the gas is available even in plant shutdown conditions.
One more fairly new design item related to flare systems is detonation arrestor installed downstream of FKOD close to flare stack inlet. As it comes from its name, the device is some sort of last resort to prevent flame propagation back to the FKOD and flare header.

Sir, really helpful info, but one confusion is that, I found some references flare location mensioned is downwind direction, somewhere it is written cross wind.
Please explain where should be the Flare location wrt wind direction and why??

Excellent Mr Hamza I am watching your lecture about oil and gas, really very fruitful information. My one question is it's possible if sweet gas after absorber having more co2, it can carry out glycol from dehydration unit.

Thanks for the comment. Normally H2S and CO2 (acid gas ) is removing in sweetening process. No much CO2 available after this process, really not understanding your question in this regard
