You were awesome in you parts through these seasons. The way you expressed this glowing anticipation and joy when you were in the presents of Jesus... wow! I can't wait to see 47 days.
She was really great in Episode 7, I was definitely impressed with her acting. I also loved the quiet scene later with the two sisters, which felt extremely natural and sister-like.
Absolutely love her beautiful face. Great Actress. I love how you portray such wonder in your face. I haven't watched season 4 and I know you have a big part surrounding Lazarus death. But you have been a favourite of mine when Jesus went home for New Year. Your lovely questioning face in Cynogog. Can't wait to see much more. Love from Bonnie Scotland xx
Even the presence of the scorpion is fitting, as Mary was preparing Jesus for burial, and remembering what God spoke to Eve regarding the Seed of the woman crushing the head of the serpent, as well as Luke 10:19's gift of authority over serpents and scorpions. His death, burial and Resurrection opened the door through Him for the crushing of snakes and scorpions! Hallelujah! ❤
Great performance and great interview. The Mary/Martha story is always one of those sequences that I GET what the whole point of it is, I just never see that on the page. Without Bible study discussion or notes in my Bible, I would never make the leap from what Mary and Martha are doing to how Jesus responds to their actions. But the portrayal in the show grounded it in a reality that made a lot more sense (to me). One thing I think the show missed was to more closely tie Mary's buying of the nard to her still-raw experience with Lazarus and the lesson Jesus gave following Mary and Martha's earlier butting heads. Mary going completely off script to go spend a year's worth of wages makes perfect sense having just gone through the grief of losing Lazarus. When you lose someone unexpectedly, you just can't help but think about all the missed opportunities you had to spend time with them and let them know how important they were to you, etc. On the heels of Jesus praising Mary for focusing on Him while he was still with them, they could have really connected all those dots, and retroactively made the earlier Mary/Martha conflict make even more sense. Unless I'm just completely forgetting something, or unless they figure out a way to bring Mary of Bethany into Holy Week and the Crucifixion, that's the last time we'll see Catherine in the show! It's times like these when we have no other canonical sources of information about some major figures from the Bible that I mourn what we don't have. You just know that Mary and Martha and Lazarus had to be some of the most compelling and passionate evangelists. I'd love a whole series just on their post-resurrection experiences.
Great points! The show set up a plot to kill Lazarus (which is briefly mentioned in the Bible too) so I'm wondering if we'll get that. We already know Lazarus will escape though in light of The Messengers
@@thebibleartist Oh wow! You know, I always just breeze by that verse, because it's just not followed up after that. But that's a verse that's just loaded with story questions.
This involves a beautiful conversation and insights with one of the Chosen cast members ("Mary of Bethany"), but the best part of the interview for me is the ending just before the host says "....very well put" because the actor (Catherine) describes the power of how Jesus has changed the world/traditional views (e.g. I'm referring to the part starting from where she says Jesus is a "rogue lover" (amazing term) and continues on with her description of how Jesus changed how we "measure time"), and the actor shows in her description her Love for God - and Jesus, of course. It is beautifully described by the actor, and her conviction to her faith in Jesus is wonderful. The actor's passion and conviction to God are amazing.
Catherine is an amazing artist. She gave such beauty and depth to this character.

Yeah I didn't think to mention it at the time but it did feel very fitting

I saw the episode in theater. Had tears running down my face. I know the story, yet still affected by all
It was a powerful depiction
You were fantastic as Mary of Bethany. And who knew? You're really like her!
I am so glad that The Chosen cast Catherine in this role. She is amazing. She speaks volumes with nothing more than a look on her face.

Catherine did have some wonderful insights!
I LOVE HER SO MUCH
