Wow I’m behind on vids. Sorry Dave. Simply amazing the rocks/minerals I’ve never seen before. Hope you had fun! The agates remind me of back home in MI. We had so many n fossils were our beach bottom at our cottage.
I just found your videos. Thx for the content and info! Im planning trips to the Quartzite & hopefully Tucson shows coming up. Im always looking for various rough, mainly turquoise. You've given me good insight into which dealers I need to visit. Amateur jewelry maker here from Hopi. Thank You!
That’s awesome my friend let me know if you’re going to Cortana Tucson I’ll be at both I love to meet you thanks again for watching a really appreciate it
Really enjoyed this, and all your videos. Lots of info in this one!! Went to this show (my first) but getting way more out of your video than my visit so thanks for educating. 👍 I think I'll just follow you around next show. Planning to go to Tucson. I'll look for ya at Kino.
Definitely Tara just let me know when your there I will be filming all around Tucson even if we decide not to vend :) it would be a pleasure to have a friend to check the show out with
Hey man! Great vids! Do you know the name of the vendor that was selling that ocean jasper? I missed them at the show and have been trying to find them...
Hi Dave, question- if you’re trying to shape rough unstabilized Turqoise and it keeps breaking no matter how gentle you are. At which point do you add the jbweld? Can you shape jbweld on a grinding wheel or would it ruin the nova wheel?
jb weld is easily worked on grinding and polishing lapidary wheels No as to when you apply it because your son is breaking that’s up to you usually I know it’s Prone to breakage after the first time it does if it’s crumbling I do it soon as later if it’s a snap because of my clumsiness maybe I give it a second try but most of the time it just takes the first break for me to find out
@@lapidarydave yeah it’s very touchy crumbly Turqoise so the three big pieces I cut are now several smaller pieces. I thought you had to get the rough shape you wanted the stone to be BEFORE you added the jbweld. In trying to get it to shape though, it’s cracking. Thank you very much for your help and for all your videos. I’m a newcomer to lapidary work. My dad was teaching me but sadly has passed so I had only just begun to learn- thus the questions.
3 square inches the size you want to square up on most patterns or details in rough. Remember it has to fit in a bezel small enough to fit into a ring, pendant or bracelet. Larger for perhaps a belt buckle but larger you're left at clock face territory. A good tip to remember when selecting rough materials.
Naming that natural rock/stone *graveyard* is creepy but it is the right time of year to be creepy I guess☠☠ Agree that looked like a good $10.00 buy there *Dave* 👍👍
Great back stories on names. Love it.
Love it, wish I was there!!
