    Very good demonstration justin. I prefer wax sand over the dirt but this is exactly how I make wax sand.

      I had plans for this year. I dried the dirt but never infuses the wax. We both know we needed it this year for sure

    I'm new to the whole trapping seen and just started watching cuz I thought it was interesting, but what do you use this wax dirt for exactly. I can't figure it out. Is it to keep a good print 🤔

    Hey first thanks for the video I made it and works great question is after I put it in my bucket I notice it has a smell to it is that normal?

    • @HoosierTrapperSupply
      @HoosierTrapperSupply  2 года назад +1

      Depends on the smell, if it smells burnt- may cause some issues. if it just smells like waxy dirt, should be fine

      @@HoosierTrapperSupply kind of like plastic chemical smell, doesn’t smell burnt, is it easy to burn it? I thought I was pretty careful

    I like how, with your method, you don’t need to wait for a hot summer day.

    Hi! Thank for the tutorial. I live in zone 3 with rather cold winters getting to -35. Will this wax sand help to keep my traps working or do i still need to apply antifreeze on my traps in addition to using wax sand? My concern is that the metal itself might freeze and not fire.

    • @HoosierTrapperSupply
      @HoosierTrapperSupply  Год назад +1

      It should work without additional antifreeze. May have to experiment though

    Justin I had a thought using an old crock pot. I would take more time and a gallon at a time. You see any reason for that not to work? Thanks for sharing

    nice video. That is similar to how I made my waxed sand. Curious as to why everyone prefers dirt to sand? This is my second year of trapping so I'm still learning.

    • @HoosierTrapperSupply
      @HoosierTrapperSupply  5 лет назад +1

      It's personal preference really but with sand you can buy in bags so you don't have to dig anything and it takes less wax to coat it.

    Where and what is the wax that you used for the dirt?

    • @HoosierTrapperSupply
      @HoosierTrapperSupply  5 лет назад +2

      It's called flake wax. We sell it in 10 pound bags at Hoosier Trapper Supply.

    I've tried like that and it smelt burned

    • @HoosierTrapperSupply
      @HoosierTrapperSupply  5 лет назад

      Ya that can happen. It just depends on where you dig your dirt. If it still has a little vegetation in the soil then it burns.
