How did Mayuri create a drug that sends someone back to a specific moment? The only explanation I can think of is studying the fullbringer Tsukishima and his Book of the End ability, but we know that the Shiba Clan took in the dead fullbringers.

It doesn't send you back anywhere. It sort of loops your brain, something like VR brain game and short-circuits it for a time. Toshiro experience is that it seems like he's in a time loop, but to everyone else's experience, Toshiro is just standing around doing nothing. It's basically Izanami from Naruto except it causes you to freeze every few seconds.

It's funny; with Izanami, I understood immediately that it's all in the person's head, but with this one, it sounded from Mayuri's explanation like it actually was rewinding the person; especially when Mayuri said that the trigger for each rewind is the victim killing Mayuri.
The same way he created a drug that slows down the perception of someone's time by over 100 multiplier.
Years ago I honestly thought the scariest mad scientist was Orochimaru. While he does have his own feats. Mayuri is simply more terrifying bc there's no line he won't cross.
If only Hitsugaya fought like Zombified Hitsugaya. He wouldn't be getting bodied so much otherwise.
