- After over 10 years, today, we say goodbye to one of Canada's most iconic special liveries - WestJet's "Magic Plane", featuring Sorcerer Mickey.
Both this and their Frozen plane are being repainted into standard WestJet livery following the end of the company's contract with Disney.
It'll be strange to not have these stunning liveries around anymore, and that's exactly why I had to try and fly on the Magic Plane before it was too late.

Major respect for flying on this beauty even tho you've already filmed it. That's a shame it's going in for a re-painting, in my opinion, one of North America's modt iconic liveries!

I’m lucky enough to have flown on both Disney planes many years ago, and even the Tartan tail 700s that were around for a couple months in 2015.
Will be missed. Great video as always.

My Father works a mechanic for westjet in Halifax. He just did the final work order on it as a magic plane. He was there for the opening party and the closing one. What a journey this plane had.
My grandkids were so jealous when I flew on the Frozen 737 from YYC to YOW during the pandemic. It was fun to tell them about it and get the pictures.
Magic left when Onex purchased WestJet.
Seeing that swoop plane brings back some memories of cheap flights 😢
As a westjeter I’ve been on the magic plane a few times with my family. It’s sad to see it go but we will be getting a max with a new livery this year.

I flew on this plane on a positioning from YVR to YEG once. It was wonderful - we had special Disney napkins among other things. I'll sorely miss this livery because it was one of those things that really made WestJet different from the rest. I loved seeing these two liveries at the gate because they were just so nostalgic and just so magical. I imagined taking my (future) kids on these magical planes to those magical destinations. Such a shame.

I have been in both WestJet Disney Aircraft (as ground service crew). The Interiors were crazy themed according to which to it's livery.
I Have been Very Lucky enough to Spot and Photograph these Special Liverys from WestJet i will miss seeing it on the WestJet 737-800's
I flew on the Frozen one once about 2 years ago, coming from Cancun to Calgary. Fancy graphics, but it's still just a plane. As for the extended comfort seats, they don't seem to be living up to the promises they made for people who book them. At least I didn't get the extra perks they promised when I flew Calgary to Cancun and back again in early May

I actually live about 40 miles from their paint shop. If I had known this retirement earlier, I would actually enter there and go spotted. They’re arrival and go painting.

Fond memories of seeing Sorcerer Mickey land on YYJ's 27 from back when I used to work in Sidney. They will be missed!

I’ll always remember watching the Frozen plane being de-iced in the bay next us.
I got to fly on this plane on May 21 from Calgary to Toronto. Had no idea it was that special. Shame I didn't have my camera with me so all I got was a few garbage phone photos...

I feel lucky after having never seen either livery in person before, the Frozen plane pulled up to my gate in Atlanta and that was my ride to YYC, just a couple weeks before it was repainted.
Sad to see the Disney planes leave westjet! I managed to fly on the Frozen plane back in 2019 from Cancun to Toronto!

I've been lucky enough to capture images of both liveries coming into YYZ. Sorry to hear they are gone. Have you seen Iceland Air's Aurora livery? Apparently the interior LED lighting mimics the northern lights.

I’ve been on that plane! I went from St John’s in Newfoundland to Toronto in Ontario! I went on the Mickey Magic plane. It was a wonderful experience!! Already loving this video!

One of the best aviation experience was flying Calgary to Toronto on the Mickey plane and then from Toronto to st. John's with the Mickey flight
Well, there’s at least another Disney-branded Canadian airliner, that AC Dreamliner wearing the “Wish” livery. AC had just started service to my home country and I’m waiting for that opportunity to go and photograph it. It visited for the first time a few weeks ago, but I’m currently schooling, so plane spotting isn’t top of my priorities now… 😂
I'm going to miss seeing them

Hey Alex, I happened to actually photograph your plane leaving YEG on Thursday. I had come into work early (after waiting for 2 weeks to catch it) and was all set up beside taxiway B to get it rolling past, however they switched from runway 20 to 30 and I only managed to get some airborne shots.
It’s going to be sad not seeing this plane around anymore. The timing of this video is even more on point as C-CWSZ made its last flight in this livery today, as it looks like it was shuttled to VQQ for repainting.
Ah that's brutal, I was hoping we'd take 20 too since the light was better on my side for that runway 😅 Hopefully you were still able to get something good.

On 2017, the WestJet Frozen livery almost crashed in ocean while landing in St. Maarten.
It’s kinda sad to see them go, they were so cool looking and I thought the Mickey one was very comfortable.
My childhood imagination is destroyed. I always imagined these would be magical inside but its just standard avrage cabin 😂😂😭
I hope I could fly on it in the Future 🙏

I flew a good 130 sectors with WS a year for several years all over North America and never flew on either - go figure lol.

Great video, wish i was with you! I understand companies obviously have done some boring research on actual branding and that they think it will not affect sales by having spent the extra $$ painting special planes. However my money and currently yours just bought an extra seat to fly on it... so how many other aviation guys would do so, that is a cost I bet they don't factor in sales. So just by having these planes over the years, maybe the sales from airplane people or like minded folks actually did pay for it and ridership.

Hey Alex, great video as always. I've always thought you were a bit of a WestJet fanboy, so it was nice to see an honest (yet sad) review of an airline that has gone into a decline to mediocrity. Always like your content.

With Last Year Being Disney’s Huge 100 Anniversary West Jet Probably should have Done Something to Celebrate that All Things Considering. But I Guess they either didn’t have Enough Money or Just Simply Know About It.

These liveries were actually in really rough shape if you see them up close.
Edmonton International airport is a very underpopulated airport. (I live in Edmonton and whenever I go to the airport, barely anybody is there, basically empty.)
I walk the airport everyday, it’s not dead, it just depends when you go.

Special liveries are the only good thing about West Jet. Service absolutely sucks, especially the call centers when your trying to locate the luggage they lost.

Hi Alex may you please do Airport arrival Regina Saskatchewan Westjet has non Stop flights to Regina everyday to Regina and chould tour around city or plane spotting in Saskatchewans capital. I would love if you did a visit to may home city. Thanks
