Exploring this former Budget Inn motor hotel seems to have been abandoned since around 2006 according to a date on a couple of telephone books left behind. It may have been a Red Carpet Inn at one time. An investor purchased the property so an on ramp could be built in its place.

There's so many travel guides in that rack, that it looks like someone kept coming by well after it closed & kept adding more until it exploded. Haha.
Very cool video! Looks to be originally a Days Inn. In the 70's and 80's they had locations with a restaurant ( Tasty World ) Gas pumps,and a gift shop. That would be the main building up front. You don't see very many of these original Days Inns still in operation, as they started franchising out to other locations, and closing most of this type. Thanks so much for sharing! Brought back some old family trip memories.
I agree with Larry, this looks to be an original 8 Days Inn (the original name of the chain before dropping the "8" from the name. I recall the Tasty World restaurants well. I live in southern Indiana and there is an authentic Days Inn of this type that is still in operation (and is in pretty good shape I might add)!
This is an old Days Inn, I miss the old tasty World restauants, I remember it had gas pumps in front, what a shame I love these old motels.

My Uncle worked here in the 1970's when it was a Days Inn. I remember hanging out there one day as a kid, doing odd jobs like carrying towels to rooms, etc.
not to be rude but if those walls could talk just think all the sex, drugs and illegal act ivies went on in those rooms, with all these people out of work you think the states would get these places and forget on and off ramps and maybe fix these up and give homeless people that fell victims to this economy we live in and give them a place for their family and help out?
There are guidelines to building homeless shelters. If they threw out the rule-books it would be faster and easier. When homeless freeze, get frost-bite and get hypothermia, it makes you wonder why it has to be this way.
100% agree that they should be turned into affordable housing for the people that need it

I am terrified of large pools of stagnant water. The idea of falling in scares the life out of me. Even with the fence around it I wouldn't have been able to get close enough to see the water. I give you some serious credit, you are brave. I really enjoy your videos.
So strange that some of the rooms are almost completely untouched and others are trashed. That one room so almost perfect, just needed the dresser put back up against the wall waiting for the next guest to arrive. Doesn't make sense that the place had to close down for a freeway on/off ramp and still be there after all these years. I know in California they don't mess around. Back in 1961 we were all told to move out in 1962, which our neighborhood did for a connecting freeway to the one for the Bay Bridge to San Francisco. In 1963 that whole area was torn down and the building of the freeway began in early 1964. Well, being left like that maybe gives shelter to homeless people. Again, great video.

You know, I find it so funny that when motels close, they leave every room practically all intact. Just an invitations for homeless to take it over. Love watching your vids though!

The "restaurant" structure was once a Stuckey's, while the motel itself was a low-price Scottish Inn in the late 1990's-early 2000's. Passed this place many times over the years. The nearby town (Pinehurst) is all but abandoned as well.
I am amazed that all those big windows were still intact.
Ohh I am fascinated with abandoned pools, I have NO IDEA why, wonder who the last guest that entered that pool?!

This place is set up almost exactly like a holiday inn express in pensacola I worked at. Its been recently demolished due to age and lack of buisness. Brought back a lot of memories for me. Right down to the pattern on the drapes and the furniture. You are very brave to explore these places.A can of mace would probubly not be a bad idea to have on hand.
Better yet, a concealed weapons permit and a good .45

I wonder why trade died off? It's on a main rd; You mentioned it was in a "out of the way" place, but it must have been at some time a viable business.
This place creeps out. And I don't get easily creeped out.
the homeless ppl could stay in here .. what a waste.. those paintings..lamps, bed, etc... aha!!!! why didnt the owner sell them.. looks like the owner left in a hurry.. wierd..usually if some one leaves a place they will clean and sell the stuff or trash before they leave....great video ... hungry for more lol.. wish you had the time to go to each room... want to see more n more. thank you so much once again!

This place was located off of I-75 at Exit 117 (Hawkinsville Rd.) east of Pinehurst, GA. According to the current satellite view on Google Maps, the motel has been leveled. On Street View, it still stands with all the mattresses and box springs piled up in a long row in the parking lot.
"Too long?" We could watch this and listen to you for hours. ^_^
That building looks like an old Stucky's. They were mini marts with a café area, gas, touristy stuff and pecans. They were all along the major highways in the South in the 60's and 70's. I guess at some point it was turned into a motel.

This motel is in Pinehurst. I can't remember the last time the motel was open, probably early 90's. I think someone rented the restaurant portion selling some wings. There is an on ramp, they are updating and expanding the interstate and making safer wider onramps. This is the oldest stretch of the interstate system. The very first piece of interstate in the U.S. was installed in Tifton, GA about 60 miles south of here.
Very well covered, love the simple commentary and observations you make on this and all your videos.
Curiously my six year old daughter enjoys them as well but has to hide behind me on the couch to watch:)

To me just looking at it this was the style for Days Inn back in the 70's. They used to have Tastee World and they used to sell gas as well at some Days Inns.
Wow that place is in great shape! Even some of the beds were made. I thought I saw a TV too. It's such a shame they're gonna knock it down. They should fix it up.
I love the ceiling fan at 4:32! Shame if this building is demolished, and the fan itself also destroyed too, sadly.

Definately would say Pam, if you see ceiling fans in your tours, please glance the camera over them as myself and a few others who watch your videos find them interesting, keep up the good work and just keep your video format as they are - its fine!

It wasn't in a town. It was somewhere south of Atlanta on I-75 but I don't recall exactly where now. I just saw it on the west side of the interstate in the middle of nowhere as we were headed southbound. There were actually a few abandoned hotels along the way south of Atlanta, but they were more-like empty shells.
This was a great video tiki; I love to see lots of stuff like that...just left behind, as if the occupants just walked away.

another great find,Tiki!! loved the teddy bear and was that a baby bottle? i recall those cheesy towel racks in the bathrooms from when i was a kid traveling with my parents..lol,
and the generic pictures! the contraptions on the playground looked like giant birdcages or something..wow i love abandoned motels,so much stuff left behind,really sparrks ones imagination!!
those were cages were you could lock your children so they wouldnt get on your nerves. but it never caught on cuz you still had to feed em, plus some legal issues. great video
If I had to take a guess, I'd say that was a pretty sketchy place even before it was abandoned
Odd that that a few rooms out of all of them were locked. I have to admit, my curiosity would have gotten the better of me and I would have found a way to jimmy the sor break the doors in. You're a truly a woman of great integrity, Pam and true to your word not to succumb to such temptations. :) And it would have been pretty bad if someone on the highway noticed somthing like that lol.
With a locked door, the room surely would have been far better preserved than the others and perhaps something is hidden in there...

We owned a nice motel/restaurant in Calif. here ..Pool, etc. It was busy until the freeway came through then, Eeerrkk!! It was called "the Voyager Inn" and was a nice stopp on the way to Palm Springs. The highway by the Comfort Inn may have spelt it's demise. Thanx for the vid.
It's sad that we are such a throw away society. It just seems like they could have recycled a lot of that stuff.

Some of those rooms didn't look too bad, even with the beds still made. You could get a free room for the night! Just make sure the door locks so you're safe. I'd be curious to know if the closed rooms were still in great shape, or if they were occupied. Maybe occupants found keys for them at the desk or left in the rooms.
That's just what I thought. It would be easy to change those locks if you couldn't find the key as well. I'm amazed it hasn't been taken over by squatters. What really surprises me though is that all the doors are open. Why? If they were open like that for 9 years, the rooms would be much more weathered. There must be something else going on here. Worried about safety when checking out these places. Who knows what goes down there.

Wonder if the City would be held liable if some kid fell into pool and drowned. Unbelievable. I'll bet there some homeless living in those locked rooms. It would be a perfect place to live until you get caught.

In very good condition considering its been abandoned. if it were in the Uk every single bit of wire, piping, or metal of anykind would be gone.. even the door handles, not joking either :-S
same anywhere in the us. im surprised its not been looted of metals. scrappers are err they don't miss ANYTHING

Back in the 70's Days Inns were up and coming,, this was what this one was orginally, the office at one time also housed a Tasty World resturant, and out front was gas pumps, I guess it was along in the mid 80's a bad economy forced them to sell off quite a few of these, they ended up being budget inns,, Knights inns etc,
It seems the back was vandalized badly for the simple reason that it wasn't facing the beltway. Probably were copper thieves especially there.

hi i think instead of leaving behind tv,furniture's,etc etc they can be donated to some charity homes or to homeless people but a nice inn kinda looks creepy but not bad and i like this video ur awesome tiki trex :)

TikiTrex - I have seen many of your videos and will probably watch all others - you seem to be very smart safe and careful - just curious if you have ever gotten ill in one of these places and what kind of precautions do you take other than the masks?
We went exploring of some really old farm houses and I wore my safety shoes, fully covered and the masks as well as gloves and a hat and liberal use of hand washing and sanitizing. great vids you have sparked my interest again to explore. I find myself searching google maps and looking along roadsides and down sid streets when in the country. :)

Non-profits are famous for accepting donations, ostensibly intended by donors for the use of their clientele (such as the girls at a boarding school or children at an orphanage), only for the donated items to be sold to raise cash which they justify on the basis of it being used on behalf of their clients. Well loved older horses are commonly sold when the intention was for them to live out their remaining older days by carrying out pleasant, light duty work in the company of children.

This place is gone now. There are piles of rubble where it was completely demolished.
