Here's how to install hood vents on ANY car! Get the vents I used here: (Affiliate links for which I may be compensated) amzn.to/2YZNw0I. If I were to do it again I'd buy some nicer aluminum ones. What are you putting hood vents on?
This is cool and all but I'd paint the exposed metal that you created after cutting to prevent future rust.. While the tape was there before you took it off would haves been a good time to do so. Just cover more of the hood to not mess up the paint.
Great info 👍 now with the hoods vent or bonnet vents.....how does that work when it rains 🌧 🤔I've been wanting bonnet vents on my hood for years🤦♂️is there a way we could close them instead when it rains🤔electronic vents🤔
As mentioned, most if not all engine bay wiring connectors are already waterproof. You certainly can make custom covers to close them off in rain if you’re worried though!
@@CashedOutCars yeah I know everything is pretty much waterproof....beings tho I'm a mechanic....but personally I would want to be able to close it when not in use. But cool video 😎thanks
That’d depend on the shape of the car and the speed it’s going at, you can find pressure maps of lots of cars online. The ones I’ve seen if Miatas (and most vent kits for them) indicate that here is the best spot
You could use similar tools as here. Grinders will do a great job, the thinner the disk the better the cut will be. Make sure to wear a mask, fiberglass and resin dust is nasty!
So far so good. The turbine housing will also have a turbo blanket on it to help with spool up and keeping temperatures lower. I think they’ll hold up well, and if they don’t it’s easy to change em to aluminum!
@@CashedOutCars They also improve downforce. Nice video! I would put a tarp or blanket in the engine bay to prevent shavings from getting all over while cutting.

Nice vid, i would just add that it is a good idea to use touch up paint to cover the exposed metal from the cut so that u can avoid rust
I'd agree if you have a steel hood! This one is aluminum
So you cut through the bonnet reinforcement supports? You couldn't of just put them in clear space ?
Looks amazing!!

These hoods are aluminum, no risk of rust here! If it’s a steel hood I agree
This and alot of hoods are aluminum but on a steel hood you would be correct
good video, id definatley go for a metal option if you can.

Well done man
Thanks my friend!
Great video!.
Nice little how to, thanks :)
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it :)
I'm shopping on Amazon for vents which are ones that are going to last with out breaking the bank
thanks so much really helpful!
Great job !!!
Great presntation
Thank you!
Good video
Thanks man!
Small vents won't make your hood lose strenth. U'll be ok.
Great video great job
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Great vid thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
Do the vents act like a funnel for rain after installing them upside down?
They would, but it's not a big deal and this car doesn't get driven in the rain much anyway
Thank you ..but what about the rain ???
Or water ?
Im from morroco hh
Your engine connectors should be waterproof!
Shouldn’t the pressure be high above the hood and thus travel to the low pressure in the engine bay?
That’d depend on the shape of the car and the speed it’s going at, you can find pressure maps of lots of cars online. The ones I’ve seen if Miatas (and most vent kits for them) indicate that here is the best spot
Does water get in there when it rains? Or is there a way to prevent that?
Yes it will, as mentioned engine connectors are generally waterproof though. You can always make removable colors!
With all the cross bracing gone - don't let anyone sit on the bonnet!
I agree, I typically don't either way haha
Do you have to cut it threw or can you just put it on
You can just put them on if you don’t want them to be functional and if you just want the look!
What tool should I use to cut fiberglass hood?
You could use similar tools as here. Grinders will do a great job, the thinner the disk the better the cut will be. Make sure to wear a mask, fiberglass and resin dust is nasty!
I thought you were 350Z247... I hadn’t seen your face yet
seem a little small but im sure itll help a bit
Does water get in?
It would yes, but engine connectors are generally waterproof
Sucks i live in an apartment. Means i cant do anything myself.
i dont think they'll hold up on the hot side

Did the intake temprator is lower now wite the hood vent?
So…. Rain?
Your vents should of been higher to release heat better.
But now the water can get to your motor
Not gonna do anything
But water doesn’t get inside?
Yes. Yes it does.
Take a shot every time he says hood vents.
Say no to rice
It’s rice if it’s not functional! These are placed to help the intercooler and radiator cool more effectively
