Fun episode thanks Joe
A little late, but TE coach James Casey has always been solid with journeymen players, each year they're set up for a raise (elsewhere, but that's another subject).
That's a great call
it seemed like almost every player involving a tight end went good for us this season i agree with this comment
I know he got hurt, but I'd have Erick All as a ROY option.
cant wait to see all get more snaps next season
I’m really surprised that Cam Taylor-Britt wasn’t an option for the LVP. I’m still a fan, even though definitely had a rough year. He was really solid and ascending his first two years. I don’t think people should be giving up on him yet. However, there wasn’t a more disliked player this year in my personal circle. I found myself having to defend him with family members constantly; though it was tough to do and I eventually stopped trying. And it wasn’t just my circle. I saw so many comments on socials like RUclips that were ragging on him all year.
yeah all players have at least 1 or 2 bad seasons and it can also be because of players he has around him, maybe he was helping some of our younger players and practice and it was too much on his plate, because you are right them other seasons he was doing fine
Unfortunately thats also just Bengals fans sometimes. I saw Tee put up multiple touchdowns in a game, then went out (temporarily mind you), and then literally in less than 10 seconds, the fans started clamoring to get him off the team. Same thing with chase. Everyone said he was a diva, that he didn't deserve another contract, and to just trade him and sign tee (after they turned on tee for requesting a trade). Bengals fans fall to the same thing that everyone does on social media, they read a headline and don't look further.
@ totally agree. It’s very much a “what have you done for me lately”. Everyone has short memories and the negative plays/moments seem to outshine the positive. And for corners, it’s especially tough because you’re probably going to lose more than you win, given the proliferation of the passing game and the rules that benefit it. My dad, who hates CTB, also hated Eli Apple. I similarly, but to a smaller degree, defended Apple. He talked too much shit, was part of his problem, compared to the positive plays he was making. Talking trash is fine, if you can consistently make plays to back it up. See Chase, Ja’Marr. But if you do it and then make a couple bad plays, you’re going to look bad. We’ve seen it a little with Cam too, which doesn’t help his case. But both Cam & Eli were more valuable than their detractors would admit. That crowd just always remembered the bad.
Side note: Sauce Gardner, a top 5 pick and the 2022 DROY, had a down year this year. I’m not in Jets circles but I doubt anyone is giving up on him. He should bounce back and I think Cam can too, with the right coach.
@ I agree. It's the same thing with Evan, but back to CTB. Last year he had better stats than most all pro corners, and this year regressed a little specifically before the WAS game. With Corners, its all about confidence. The coaches got on him for his comments, and I believe that shook his confidence, because a drop off like that doesn't happen out of the blue. It's on the coaches at that point. Plus, for the first 13-14 weeks he had no safety help, because they were awful. If you don't have a good D-Line, corners can suffer. If you don't have good safeties, Corners can suffer. If you don't have either that are good? Corners have an impossible job (LBs too). Now, Evan (and the rest of nfl kickers) had a very down year. But, fans were so happy to get Cade, despite Cade getting cut from 3 different teams and having a lower FG percentage in his entire career than Evan had this year. But, fans wanted Cade and wanted Evan cut due to the times where kicks were missed, despite Evan playing with a different holder each of his 4 years here. Then Cade started missing, and people want Evan back. I think this season started off bad because of the FO, and then got worse on defense because Lou has always been stubborn and trusted Vets, but also not changing the scheme to fit the players strengths, and unfortunately that got him fired. So I don't believe we need to cut every single person on the defense either, but that's another conversation lol
@ 😂 I don’t think I’ve ever agreed with someone in a YT comment section more than I am right now. This feels weird not to be arguing lol. But yeah, I agree with all that. My dad and I went to that Washington game and he and others were roasting the secondary after that game. I’m like “what do you expect when your d-line is giving their QB 7 seconds almost every play?! Almost no corner can cover for that long!”
it's crazy chase got the crown even after having higgins and all them tight ends to throw to, imagine if he was our only good WR the stats would been even more un-real, hope we keep hilton and bj hill for few more seasons
Call my shot: It is maybe too early for him, but I want the Bengals to be in on this kid. Armand Membou T/G from Missouri. Start him at G. 9 likes to hold the ball to let his receivers have an extra beat to get open. How about lets give him the best offensive line in football to both give him time as well as run it even when the defense knows its coming.
hendrickson 1, tee 2, hilton, 3, gesicki 4 bj 5
Agree. Good call..cal is not Clark. Every snap by clark was perfect which reflects in way better consistent results. Cal is not always on the money which negatively affected the process bigtime
Calling my shot. Walter Nolan DT ole miss: Former top recruit in his recruiting class. Made some great plays this season and has game breaker potential.
Tyler Booker, G Bama
Joe in next film eval...give us a call of whether CTB would be used utilized as a safety rather than boundary corner. Seems to the naked eye that Safety is his calling?
Cody Ford would probably be a serviceable starting guard in 25 assuming you upgrade the other spot more. If Ford is your 5th its probably ok given where weve been and the financial committments necessary to fix the other holes
With the 17th pick, the Bengals select Tyler Booker, guard. Alabama
defense is reason for missing playoffs second would be slow starts which is coaching to me
Tyler Booker OG
brown jr shoulda won had he not gotten hurt he was a shoe in pro bowler possible all pro. love kerras. but think we missed here. i wouldve put ford the number 4 guy just for a mention. coaches loved the effort and versatility.
brown jr definitely was reported putting in extra work before his injury and it was showing
I think they need to draft Defensive Tackle more specifically Kenneth Grant. He reminds of Geno Atkins just bigger. He's a hybrid. He can play true nose but also pass rush as a nose or 3 tech. He's an athletic freak. Pairing him with Trey Hendrickson and Kris Jenkins who is familiar with would take the Defensive line to a very dangerous level. It would help pass coverage, run defense and pass rush especially with a big physical freak like Derrick Henry in the division, the defense needs a guy like him.
i dont watch much college ball but if he is a bigger version of atkins we need him!
@getbrainseeds Kenneth Grant is 6'3 339. He disrupts blocking schemes play after play. He's part of why Michigan beat Ohio State. A very interesting fun fact about Grant will show how dedicated he is to playing his best. When he got to Michigan as a freshman he weighed 360 pounds. He could still move well for that size but didn't have quickness and speed needed to be a top tier player. He dropped 20 pounds through diet and training to move quicker, be more disruptive, to not just help himself but to help the team. Anybody who coached him or played with him at Michigan said he's a team first kind of player who pushes himself to be the best. He does everything to be a good leader, and push his teammates. I think drafting him would work out very well. He just has an Ora about him that makes everyone else work to play better. Putting him beside Kris Jenkins and even ahead of Jenkins will motivate him to get better, it will free up Trey Hendrickson more because honestly how do you double 2 pass rushers and still block the other edge defender and defensive tackle. Hid versatility will allow who ever the new DC to move him around the interior. He line up at nose, in the a gap, b gap, even c gap. He's a locker room leader, motivator, and elite level player who never quits. Could the Bengals afford him after a rookie contract expires? I'd say yes and because he's a true team player he'd probably take a team friendly deal because he's also loyal. I've done the research into his background. Not many colleges gave him a chance. Michigan saw his potential and rewarded the program, he stayed loyal despite several schools trying to get him to transfer. Which ever team drafts Kenneth Grant will have a true franchise player let's just hope it's the cincinnati bengals
first pick cb
First round pick should be pass rusher
if barkley wouldve set record id agree but i expext chase to be in the running
I think inability to run to finish games should have been on the reason they didn't make the playoffs.
hopefully since pollard is gone we can run block a lil better next season my hope
I agree on everything except thinking about keeping Cordell Volson and Geno Stone. They should re-sign Khalil Herbert and move Karras to backup guard/center. Their depth is awful at OL they need big guys who can move fast and get down the field if need be. Not unathletic big guys. If Brown or Mims goes down they are done, unless they add some key depth.
I would also like for the Bengals to start seeing if they can convert athletic guys from DL to OL. We need guys who can win at the point of attack but not just that. They have to be able to move well with good endurance. Tired of seeing offensive lineman on their heels. Go get them. Wear them out.
db biggest need, highest priority start fast
the first 4 are pretty easy. only one candidate for each
Princely Umanmielen. Edge Florida
im surprised to see jenkins on your worse draft pick list
Watching this after the Broncos blownout at Buffalo. There can be 30 denver fans who think they were the better team for the 7 slot than us. Would not have been at 1pm sunday nor only put up 7pts. Kc hosts houston so their embarrassing flopping worked out
Thinking Bell Rankins Hilton wont be back and hill seems borderline. Moss probably wont be either. TEE and Gesicki will be brought back and should be
Hear me out, Joe.
Resign Gesicki and essentially make him and Yoshi WR3/4.
3rd round - Draft TE Harold Fannin,Jr. from Bowling Green. He should have been the Mackey Award winner. Stellar stats and played great against Penn State and Texas A&M, so he wasn't just putting up numbers against weak opponents. Can be a vertical threat, strong hands like Tee, and seems to have a solid catch radius. He and All could be the Jr Brothers, and i think both reliable with Burrow's skills.
Bengals draft Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State
