They are absolutely right about the Luganda language, but I am afraid totally wrong about Swahili. Swahili is not indigenous to Uganda, hardly anyone speaks it and worse still it has been rejected in Uganda for more than 100 years! Declaring it to be one of the official languages does not make it so. The regime in power has recognised that fact, and that imposing Swahili upon us by force, just because it is the lingua franca of our neighbours in East Africa is totally unacceptable.
Hence, the regime has conceded to the inevitable by allowing Luganda to be taught in all our institutions of learning. English is still the official language, but Luganda is the only indigenous language of the country that is spoken and understood by an estimated 75% to 80% of the population. It is also the language of commerce, entertainment as well as government, having organically become the lingua franca of Uganda. Therefore, I would not be surprised at all were Luganda to be declared the second official language of Uganda.

Point of correction,Luganda isnt the most spoken language.Actually Runyakitara is the most spoken dialect in Uganda.

Baganda 16.9% of the Ugandan Population.Banyankore 9.8%,Bakiga 7%,Banyoro 3%,Batoro 3.2%.Already,this dialect called Runyakitara is 23.9%. Do your Maths. That's why M7 will always win even if the Baganda fail to vote him.Thank you
