IIUC, with EMF you are essentially skipping on the Create Metric Filter step, is that a fair comment?

Kind of. However, with EMF the client/application controls the metric data. With metric filter the metric data is extracted from a 3rd party.

@@cloudonaut I'm not 100% sure what you mean by third party. You mean it's not wasting time looking at log lines it needn't analyze?
