I didn’t know about this so this is definitely giving me some ideas. I’m willing to bet that I’d get even more distracted and that I’d need a week to visit all ten shrines, but still!
Thank you for watching. :) haha, that's true it's a good opportunity to see different neighborhoods but it's better to stay a little more at each place especially Shin Bamba, Kameido and Monzen Nakacho, Oji...
I will be doing this pilgrimage during my trip to Japan next month. Given the temples are spread out all across Tokyo, I’m trying to figure out the most efficient way to visit all of them in two days. I LOVE collecting “goshuin” so I can’t wait to do this!
Oh great! It's getting a good season to walk around. 🍁 Goshin at Shinto shirnes are sometimes just a stamp or a paper to paste on the Goshin book, but it's still interesting to collect. :) As for the route, Nezu-Hakusan and AkasakaHikawa-Hie shirnes are in walking distance.
I love that you are showing things to do that aren't just the usual Shibuya Crossing, etc. This is great information for people who want to do something more cultural and interesting. Thank you!
What a great idea for an interesting adventure to experience Japanese culture. Also it was good that you visited restaurants and shops. That’s what makes this type of tour fun! And collecting ema from each of the shrines results in wonderful souvenirs of the tour. Finally based on this video we now know it’s better to tour the ten shrines in two days. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your kind support Kevin san and Dale san! Yes, it's a good opportunity to visit the local area of Tokyo, so I thought it would be better to show more local foods. :) Yes, I read some people do all 10 in a day, but I wonder how that's possible. ^^; Thank you again Kevin san Dale san.
Another wonderful video! I really enjoyed seeing all these beautiful shrines and watching you get all the Ema! This is a really great idea for my trip next year. I think it would be nice to rent a kimono on the same day because the pictures would be really interesting and nice. Arigato Gozaimasu, Kenchan ☺️👍🏼🌸💖
Thank you so much for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. This takes you to the areas travelers usually don't visit, so I think it's a great add on to the trip in Tokyo. I agree the scenery match with Kimono. :)
@@tokyokenchan Hi Kenchan We delayed our dates by a week Will be in Hiroshima from the 14th Oct to 18th And Fukuoka Hakata 18th to 24th Hopefully get two seats on YUFUIN NO MORI Look forward to seeing you live on the 6th Cheers Don't forget your coffee 🤣
I'm trying to help offset your new microphone costs. This was a fun guide with new ideas of places to visit. 0:54 "So let's pray fast" was my favorite comment. (^.^) When I was in combat (years ago) I used the same "system". (^.-)
Thank you so much for such a big support Karl san! It was fun to visit different neighborhoods as I pray. I’m glad you liked the video but sorry and thank you about the microphone. :) It helps a lot.
Thank you for including the Fujizuka at Shinagawa Shrine. Some Fujizuka are closed to climbing. I enjoy those you are still permitted to ascend the surrogate Mt. Fuji. Tomioka Hachimangu has frequent Sunday antique markets in the precincts of the shrine.
thank you Kenchan we have not heard of the 10 temples before? Another thing to add to our growing list. And you have to watch out for those tasty distractions 😅
Great video!! I enjoy watching your pilgrimage and walk on different shrines. Glad that you collected those souvenirs. The background music sounds so relaxing too. 👍 Many thanks for sharing this one 👍
That is a really amazing video, thank you so much Kengo ! I like that you are sharing special places with us, in Tokyo (like those 10 shrines), or special ideas for day trips out of Tokyo, or about Sumo etc. Not just the "normal" 08/15 things like Shibuya Crossing, Harajuku, Tsukiji Market etc. (those places are not bad, they are just in every guidebook and on every channel), but also more special things, a bit off the beaten path. Also, I like to learn more about certain things, like here about "Ema". I didnt know the name of those wooden plates untill now. I was under the impression, that you normally buy an Ema and write a prayer or wish on it, and hang it on a designated place in the shrine. But it seems, that there are also small Ema plates, where you dont write anything on it, and its fine and not disrespecting to take them away as a souvenir ? Would that also be okay to do for foreigners ? I think it would make for a lovely souvenir for myself, but I dont want to do anything that might offend locals.
Thank you for watching and your message. I should have explained a little more about it. Yes, even usual Ema, you can bring back if you like design, but usually, you leave it in the shrine with wish as you know. I wrote my wish to all 10 and I have in my room. This mini Ema is specially made to bring home, and you can actually purchase big Ema stand that you can paste all 10. :)
Thanks Kenchan for another informative video! Cute idea to collect the mini ema at the shrines. Will definitely visit some on my next visit to Tokyo ⛩️
@@scooterxx6094 This one you are supposed to bring home with you, so it’s more like souvenirs. I didn’t get one but they have a huge ema that you can paste all 10 and becomes mega ema.:) Thanks for bearing with the sound. It was solved for the eSIM video filmed after this.
Thank you for your video !! Really love this content !! Next month I'm going to Japan for my vacation. After visiting Izumo Taisha in Izumo, Shimane, I'll go to Tokyo for 7 days before ending up my trip. I've been in Akasaka Hikawa Jinja, Hie Jinja, Kanda Myojin & Nezu Jinja previously (especially in Nezu Jinja, had been there around 3-4 times, the Omikuji in Nezu is very accurate. 😂😂), the rest of the shrines in video I haven't been there yet. I'll add in my list of collecting the Goshuin this time for sure. 🎉⛩️🎉⛩️🎉
Thanks, very good suggestion and recommendations that i think most tourist probably won't even have gone to 1 before! Plan to try going to a few in my upcoming trip. So far, the one i loved most is probably nezu with the torri gates and azalea flowers!
Thank you always! I'm glad you liked the video. Nezu is a very good choice. I recommend all but probably Shinagawa, Tomioka and Kameido are good to explore neighborhood.
The number of train changes is daunting for a first time visitor! Good that I could see some of these places before I attempt them. Sad that you could not get your last Ema. Hie shrine is not easy to get to unless you have great train skills... and I do not have those. I only have to days in Tokyo, so I will have to get moving very early!
Thank you for watching. I started a little late so I think you can do it if you start early, but also good to just visit some of them that seems nice. Have a great trip. :)
I hadn't heard of Tokyo Jissha till I watched your video. I think it is a great way to experience Tokyo. I just have one question: Coincidentally, I had about five of those shrines on my Tokyo bucket list. Are the mini-emas you've collected only possible to collect if you are aiming to complete Tokyo Jissha? I had heard about goshuins or amulets as souvenirs but thought emas were purchased and left at temples, if you had a wish you wanted to be fulfilled by the gods/deities, so mini-emas are a new concept for me😅
Oh that's interesting you already had 5 of them in the list. Yes, you can purchase them even if you don't go all 10. Ema is usually left with wish at shrines, but some people bring home if it's a good design. I think this mini Ema is supposed to bring home. So I wrote wish in every mini Ema and have it in my room. ^^ Thank you for watching.

Thank you so much! It was great to see Mikoshi moving. :)
Nice video
Thank you so much for watching. :)
Thanks, this was reminding that I need to start walking up and down a lot of staircases now, so I am ready for all the stairs in December!
Thank you for watching. haha, I'm glad you are ready for it. There are many up and down in Tokyo especially for shrines. :)
Great video showcasing some very scenic temples Kenchan! 30 days until I fly now, very excited to go back to Japan!
Thank you for watching Ryuga san! Oh wow! It's already in one month until you come back here. I'm very excited to hear that!

Kenchan, this video made me realize I really want a guide on Omamori and where to buy specific ones.
That's an interesting topic. I haven't made a video focusing on temple and shrines. Thank you for watching. :)
Thanks!

Do you leave a prayer at each shrine with the ema, or save them as souvenirs?
Maybe leave a prayer for your microphone next.
