So glad they apologized... thank goodness, all is fine.
sowwy hehe
kinda still mad aboot it, its harming alberta you know? i dont like it
Sometimes it's all that's needed and nice big hug
I do love proper sarcasm
"Did not enter water ways"....but the oil spill has sipped through the ground water...so the ground water is now polluted and will find its way to the rivers and waterways.
Albertans are not that stupid.
Yes, they are that stupid.
It's not oil that spilled it's a drainage pond. Basically dirty water.
@@joshdoddadbod it's a tailings pond it's worse than if it was straight oil
I'd heard a decade ago that 11 million litres of toxic waste has been leaking from the tar sands tailings ponds daily. Somehow, I doubt the royalties collected will cover the cleanup cost... and we're paid the lowest royalties in the world in typical Canadian fashion. I get that the extraction and refinement costs are high, but so will be the environmental costs.
Then why do Albertans keep voting for the one party that doesn't care about the environment, climate change, and regulations?
They said they’re sorry guys, that wraps it up.
Taking their cue from Trudeau
So I guess the apology will clean everything up?
Obviously they are going to clean it up???? Lol like how dense are you?
lmao oopsy we accidentally spilled oil everywhere sorry everyone
no but those big trucks you see in the background can make short work of it. As well as all the other trades that are currently on site.
@@WhittaII what kind of vehicle do you drive?
Apologies don't clean the ground water we have to drink out here! Just making them apologize a few months after they occasionally get caught is nowhere NEAR enough!
With the profits the oil industries makes, these spills are preventable and simply should not happen. This industry shows no responsibility with looking after their equipment and governments, not just here in Canada but around the world, impose little if any consequences for these spills. There are thousands of oil spills each year, no need for this. Time for the oil industry to take on some responsibility. Saying sorry is just not enough.
I've witnessed some really spectacularly thorough cleanups paid for by industry. But if the stocks are publicly traded, then it's always just going to be the cost of doing business. It's like all the stores that inflate their prices in the anticipation that there's probably going to be a % loss do to spoilage, theft, bloated expense accounts, etc. Capitalism is structured that way. Do unto them before they do unto you.
The Problem with that is there is this thing called reality.
@@petewick8627 is there really, pete? lol You think you know anything about it? haha.
You know nothing about industry if that’s what you think.
@@nathanchandler18 what do I need to know about the industry that would help me to understand the thousands of spills each year. Educate me with your sources.
I am open to learn new things. Why so many leaks, especially in today's world. Oil company's spend what % of capital profits for maintenance? You know Nathan I would be totally surprised if you can answer that, as it means to me maybe you do know something the rest of the public does not. Tell me what you know and where is your sources.
Ah, the classic BP style response "We're sorry"
You really believe it didn't leak into the water or ground?
Into the ground, sure. Into the ground water system? Not very likely at all. Where it poured out is about 4km away from a river, and it would need to go uphill before going back downhill to hit that river.
Source: I've been there.
@@ron6625 Ground water has nothing to do with rivers. lakes, streams, oceans...
theres a water table under 90% of non-rock ground.
its also independent of "i been there" "or not" as thats not a source.
there is entire countries feeding water to their populations this way. without a single lake or river.
@@samljer Yes, and where they're sitting is in total boreal forrests with the water table being at a minimum of 10m below. Like I said, I've been there.
@@ron6625 Don't try explaining the tailings ponds to the pleb enviromentalists. I've also worked at Kearl.
@@ron6625 Doesn't water collect at the lowest points? There' has to be some ground water there unless it's all clay. Which at that point it will just be soaked up and distributed cope
where are the fines.
..if it was you or me we would go to jail
"oopsies we sowwy"
"all forgiven my son, continue as if nothing happened"
Somewhere there is a dude in a 5k suite laughing with his freinds " sure glad i live on a tropic island"
Of course this is all our fault they’ll say, just like BP did. Shift the blame to the consumer for their haphazard operations.
Remember BP is a company not a government, they have enough money to silence reports and regulation, and the conservatives want companies like BP to be unregulated to avoid taxes or something.
And you wonder why residents don’t want pipes going through their land.
You are more than welcome to shut off your gas and water lines to show your support!
@@bornalbertan5701 upu are more than welcome to go up there and drink a huge mouthful before you run your mouth off at concerned citizens
@@bornalbertan5701 or we could demand that producers be more responsible and not have things like this happen. how can a situation like this be defended with the old "shut off your gas" argument?
Would you rather have trucks and trains? Look at Ohio...
@@MCC0NN377 didn't the Keystone pipeline just puke 14,000 barrels all over the Kansas countryside but a couple months ago?
thanks UCP for deregulating safety rules for oil companies, i'm sure their self regulation will totally be enough.
Reminder these spills, including chemical spills occur within every form of government. And can be blamed on various acts, regulations, ect put by every political government
@@imgamerful Reminder that UCP has helped deregulation a thousand times more than anyone else here. Blaming them is fair because it's THEIR FAULT.
@@vexusxenos4188 Reminder that Canada and Alberta in particular still has some of the most strict environmental laws in the world.
@busterbear13 No we absolutely do not. We have "FInEs" that's not strict. In some other countries if you did what *certain* companies are doing in Canada you would go to jail. Here you just need to pay a very small amount and then just keep polluting.
Also a reminder that almost zero of those restrictions were put in my conservatives.
Are policies aren't strict, they are a joke.
@@vexusxenos4188 Point out a few that are directly related to this incident? I'm not sure of much
It's only enough to fill a small lake guys, nothing to worry about!
'Whoops' followed by 'Thoughts and Prayers'.
We're sorry. We're sooorrrry.
Soooooooooorrrrrrraaaaayyyyy.
How does one apologize for 11 million gallons of spilt oil?
Hopefully with a massive fine in the billions to make up for lost time, but realistically, by just typing out "lol whoops" on twitter and throwing a unpaid intern at the press.
Funny how the offender is the one that does the monitoring of the water to determine it’s safe 😬
Kinda like our corrupt government investigating itself for being corrupt.
Must be another Liberal!
@@jdbroome8125 absolutely not.
Fine Imperial MILLIONS, make them hire cleanup crews until their mess is GONE ENTIRELY and INCREASE regulations!
Thumbnail Looks like a caramel sundae at McDonald’s 😂😂
Funny this was one of the examples of our Ethics’ midterm in Engineering about 3 weeks ago. The example was about the company knowing about the issue of oil getting spilled into the water and an PEO employee was trying to address it but she got fired at the end. What a coincidence, eh..!
5.3 million liters. Another cover up of something that can and will effect peoples health
Affect
They are only sorry because there is a very slim chance it may affect their bottom line.
Go after them with all your might.
North of Edmonton- not very specific now
This has been in my opinion the problem with the oil sands. There were rules laid down at the very beginning of development of the sands to report any leaks and problems with the storage ponds. Authorities did not enforce the rules at the beginning and companies could do what they wanted. The clean up needs to be paid by those companies with penalties.
Why look for solutions or fixes....just blame Liberals and Trudeau....always worked before! Its Alberta! They only know one tune!!!
Oh, we get an appology..great. millions of liters leaked , twice in a year??? Wtf
*commits crimes against humanity*
“Sorry I slipped”
Now it is Alberta so no matter what happened no matter who did it no matter when it happened....blame Trudeau and the Liberals. Just blame Trudeau for everything all the time....
ya, they are so sorry that our tax dollars will clean it up. Let be honest, they are not sorry and do not care.
If want job security, become an oncologist in Alberta.
"We're really really sorry."

@@0xsergy :nipple rubbing intesifies:
They should be fined hugely!
It's definitely not safe.
Isn't that wonderful they apologized....and will tell everyone it won't happen again...until the next time
The Alberta government could care less about the environmental devastation caused by big oil as long as politicians keep getting those big donations and lucrative board positions for big oil once they leave office. But of course Albertans will keep voting them in.
Well if u think thas bad check out sarnia
Sounds like you don't live in Alberta.
@@vanillarpgsoundtracks Yeah, Albertans are much less rational when it comes to the oil industry.
What’s the cancer rate in Alberta. I remember flying over the oil sands and saw thousands and thousands of burning flames sending fumes everywhere.

Oh they apologized that makes it OK.
Apologies aren't going to clean up that spill or repair the damage to the surrounding environment.
Politicians have turned this country into a joke
The UCP doing nothing? Ah what a surprise.
As we all know, saying sorry fixes everything. Pffft.
You know its bad when they immediately apologize
Ah they said sorry. That makes me feel safe.
Imperial Oil to Humanity: "SAW-WEE!" 😢
Oil companies are only concerned with profits.
I great family guy character once said “opsy poopsy”
Well as long as they’re sorry
Sorry doesn't change anything.
Tar Sands gotta be Tar Sands
‘We’re so sorry… sorry…’
Same as our blackface crimeminster castreau. When he or the liberal / ndp party make a mistake and apologize and all is forgiven and forgotten.
But will any politician or pretend doctors see jail time for playing Covid.
We're deeply sorry
Sorrrrryyyy
Looks like caramel
Alberta is going to get more of that now.
I hope not..

Quick, burn the evidence!
Absolutely the reason we need to get rid of oil.
Don’t trust what they tell u is safe I regret every time

No more oil!

Look it up , it’s ironically fitting
But anyone that protests against Big Oil projects is arrested and maligned.
Ohhhh they apologized. Oh then, hey, no problem. We cool.
Oh OK. You need tax payer money to help clean that up? Just ask Danni Dystopia, the vault is open.
Kinda like the Ohio chemical train derailment
Everyone can sit here a hate this company. I am grateful for their honesty and am also grateful for all the luxuries provided to me and my community by oil.
How stupid do you want to be, Sotirios? They willfully covered up the incident... for the better part of an entire year. Both the regulator and Imperial are complicit in this, and possibly members of the UCP administration/government as well. They put public health at risk, it remains at risk.
Oh so gas prices are going up again..
Why is this happening across america and now canada
since when does the ndp care?
Insanity
call me when that happens plz...
NDP, so Political and Empty.
The UCP: full of racists and climate denialists that think they are in any way respected by oil companies
Oil leak? What oil leak? Nothing to see here. Drill baby drill!
Albertans be like: It's natural guys, relax.
Albertans be like it came from the ground originally
🤡
Let’s see how natural it is when it’s in the water supply
The oil isn't the problem, the problem is the chemicals that are injected into the oil. Oil was and still is present at the surface. Gasoline is more hazardous to have spilling onto the ground. Oil doesn't seep into the ground to further contaminate, it sits on top of the soil, only making it through the top few inches of soil. If it is introduced to water systems such as lakes or rivers, that is a problem, but not nearly as bad as the chemicals, sewage, and refuse dumped into our rivers by our other industries, farmers and city waste management that always get ignored.
According to Ohio authorities it washes away or can be burned off... no problem
“The latest spill”… when next wave? 🐑
Till next time
They must be apologizing with Justinito Truzzalini on failing Canada & mother Natur3!!
Could it possibly cause fires and loose of precious forestry?

Can’t we pull the plastic bags out of stores to fix this environment issues? 😢
The oil from fort McMurray COMES FROM THE GROUND
Look up what tailings is and figure out why this is not raw bitumen
It actually comes from tar sands and has to be washed and processed the waste water full of toxic chemicals is stored in open pits called tailing ponds it appears to have ruptured it will contaminate everything in the area and when it gets into ground water it's not coming out
so does uranium, that doesn't mean we should scatter it about..
