- To mark the 10th anniversary of Richard III's skeleton being discovered in a Leicester car park, Arthur Hughes, who is currently playing Shakespeare's Richard III, and Director Gregory Doran visited the King Richard III Visitor Centre. There they saw a 3D reconstruction of the king’s skeleton, which revealed him to suffer from scoliosis, a condition characterised by a curvature of the spine. They also viewed the site upon which Richard’s remains were buried over 500 years ago, now transformed into a glass-floored contemplative space for visitors.
Fascinating! And Arthur Hughes remains the best performance of Shakespeare's Richard I've ever seen; he's definitely spoiled me for any more able-bodied actors playing the role.
Fascinating. I love both Richards. And I love to hear how actors draw on the historical Richard to bring Shakespeare's Richard to life.
The 'I am myself, alone' speech says so much about how empathetic Shakespeare was to the character.
Love the current production. Sooo hoping for DVD of th trilogy.
I recently bought the DVD of this RSC production of "Richard III". I have watched it and it is brilliant!!! Bravo to the entire cast!
This is absolutely awesome, and extremely interesting. Can't wait to see the play. Thinking about how much good I have heard about it, I'll probably get the DVD (if it ships to my country).
Car park; ergo, in this production: ‘A car, a car, my kingdom for a car!’ 🤓
