More Sherlock, I'm 62 and my whole life I've loved these stories, not just the detective but the era, seems so long ago, but as I age I see that the past isn't that long ago. Thank you.

I was used to seeing basil Rathbone and
Nigel Bruce in the roles, but decided to give this series a chance. I'm glad I did. Ronald Howard and H.marion Crawford did a very good job. I Archie Duncan in a supporting role was good casting too.

I think Crawford portrayed the ex-Army doctor Watson more accurately than Bruce. But that's just me.

Knowing his interest in the supernatural I think Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would have approved. Especially of the ending. 😉😊

But did not Watson once protest against Holmes's theorizing, when it veered into the supernatural, that 'we are men of science'?

@@esmeephillips5888 Yes, but you're talking about the character whereas I'm talking about the author. Arthur Conan Doyle was a big believer in Ghosts and the supernatural. In fact he grew to the point where he hated Sherlock Holmes because readers were more interested in Holmes than they were in Doyle's speeches promoting things like seances and spirit photography.

At the first sight of the ghost they did the right thing watch what happens. But as soon as she was done aherlock should have screamed "GET HER!!"
And he and Wataon should have charged her yelling a battle cry.
Tackle the ghost to the ground. I'd love to see the look on her face.

It is interesting to think if the pounds of 18th century could be used at the time of their discovery. Also observe in the last scene where heather disappeared into, into the fireplace.

Yes, I guess it was usually a theatre group, and the roles were dist, ributed among the actors. Have in mind that these movies were filmed in the 30s/40s. their budget was modest!
