Nice review! I really like your clean setup. Those new Skeeter/Yamaha boats are awesome! You really have it loaded up. I agree about the convenience of your cooler access. Glad you are happy!
As a co angler i have been on brand new rangers, tritons, bass cats ect. So far the skeeter has been the smoothest ride in rough and not so rough water.
Cool. Don’t have a newer boat with a Yamaha, but I own two Yamaha Viking ranch editions and two Yamaha Kodiak 450 special edition 4 wheels that we use here on our property. Have owned now for 3 years….zero issues and we work them hard. Yamaha has it going on and my next boat will have a Yamaha
you are spot on talking about the boat making the waves look small, ive ran my zxr21 55-60 across waves that wouldve beat the crap out of me in my old skeeters
I can't say enough about Yamaha. Not only their boat motors, but I've owned Yamaha V-max snowmobiles, Yamaha Banshee Quads and they really have been great across the board, sure there could be issues, but I haven't had any!
That was a very good video. And I tell you what. If this fishing deal doesn’t work out. You are a natural born salesman. Truly. I’m not insulting you. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt, you can sell Skeeter boats. Probably better than any man is selling them today. And That is a gift. Truly.
I have had like 9 Skeeters over the years the quality suffered and have tried other brands I hear Skeeters now are much better. The price of all bass boats has become ridiculously high. The dealer availability is definitely a factor.
I have a fork guide buddy with the same rig from diamond sports marine and he says the exact same thing as you. I fish out of 4 boats including my own and its my favorite.
I still need to find a dealer, and a new boat, I have a ranger and it went back to flippin Arkansas for 14 months, and it came back in worse condition then when I sent it in, thanks for the vid todd
Todd - Great review, would you mind talking about the power system..ie how the battery set up has held up for you using the power pole charger... Mine is on order and its due to get here in October, so I have time to consider all the config of the batteries etc... appreciate it
Great review, I've tried telling people about the bounce claimed on some you tubers, you can make any boat jump up and down, mine has not done that but i can make it do it, love the way you explained your boat;;;;;;
I love my 2018 fx21 and really love the Yamaha 250 package has 275 hrs. All on Toledo Bend big water lots of rough days. My one complaint after a few trips i have screws popping out, one area is the front under the rubber fender that is aggravating! Next time they backoff i may add some epoxy to hold them in. Skeeter needs to get this corrected! 😊😎
Try a head strap with your camera for the rough water view. Fix mount on the dash makes everything look smaller. The head strap will show exactly what you’re seeing in that rough stuff.
I realize that different hulls may be different, but on my '21 FXR-21, the minimum speed to avoid porpoising (in relatively rough water) is 40mph. There are other solutions (ie. 4 blade prop, hydrofoil, etc), but "getting on it" is not one of them. On the Great Lakes and Lake St. Clair, you will be lucky to be able to go 35mph on an average boat traffic day (in a bass boat). Yes, there are guys out there that have a need to be able to be on plane at a low speed. Going through windy, narrow creeks is another situation.
Good Review - thanks for the tip on the porposing at low speed. I just purchased a FXR21 and that is helpful. Where do you like to jackplate when running all out? I am still figuring out the trim/plate settings. Thanks -
I think it was your second day on grand lake I was there that day practicing and the way your skeeter handled that was impressive, my next boat will be either a skeeter or a bass cat . Those were some big swells that day tho.
Todd, nice review. How have the batteries for trolling motor and fish finders help up? I know you love the PP Charge, I am planning on getting one, but an wondering about how the power system has held up or failed.
I see you have a steering lock clips in your tray. That clip will pinch the hydraulic seal on the steering and cause a leak. It happened to me. Get a thicker one. Love your boat.
Do you leave your boat on the driveway? Im going to have to leave mine outside and im afraid of thieves going thru it, all my tackle will be in the garage but i worry about the flush mounted electronics and the TM.
They are ok but I can’t handle the small small front deck. Once you are used to a wide deck you can’t go back if you fish team events it’s really noticeable
So did you get deferred pay or some form of sponsorship discount or did you pay full retail at your marine dealer ? I never understood why a boat manufacturer would only offer one engine choice. There limiting how many units they will sale. I guess that’s why there 4th on the list of units sold yearly.
Skeeter has a contract with Yamaha. If you finance you are financing with Skeeter/Yamaha. If you have the cash or get a loan from your bank you just buy the boat and find another dealer that will put whatever motor you want on it. You see certain boats with only 1 brand of motor. It’s all in the financing. If you got your own $ you can do get what ever motor you want. If I owned a boat manufacturing company. If I made my boats in USA. I would not be able to sleep making a deal with foreigners. BUT - I don’t own bass boat building company. So I don’t have to worry about it. Yamaha is about to start making boats. That is there goal. To be in the boat and motor business. And no Todd and a lot of Pros do not pay for there boats. They talk about how good there boat is over others and go to shows all over the country and they get a boat. But most guys put in a lot of time for the boat company. Doing sponsor related work. And it is work. It is not “here is your new boat, see you next year kinda deal”. Now if you put paper to pencil what is the hourly wage to make $85,000 to pay for a new boat?? It is a pretty good deal for the pro. But it is not like a gift from Grandma.
@@user-sh2mk8ew4c You clearly have limited knowledge on the subject matter at hand, and it shows. If you buy a Skeeter, regardless if you’re paying cash for it or financing it, the boat will have a Yamaha on it - been that way for years. Also, Yamaha has been making pleasure boats for years. As for pros getting a boat for free…not true at all. There are some who do, but most don’t. The level of sponsorship determines how much of a discount they receive off MSRP.
I think you need to try and get the camera as high over the boat and water as u can to get a better view of the waves under your boat and the ones coming at ya.
The dealer will be the main determining factor on my next boat purchase. I am dealing with a dealer now that could give a rat's a#$ about me since they got my money.
Big waves on the Great Lakes. You’ll drive 20 mph if you can. I’ve fished Rayburn, Kentucky, Potomac, Upper Bay and everywhere nothing is even close to Great Lakes.
My xpress backtrack trailer did have such shitty tires they wore in ways I've never seen tires wear. New Goodyear's (only American made trailer tire) and not one problem.
I love the looks and details of a skeeter. But I can't see paying that much for something that looses that much value! Spend your money on land! It wil make you money!
On film the waves never look anywhere near what you were driving through. I think, maybe, it would show the waves better if you were filmed from a camera boat, maybe. I have driven through some nasty waves and I’ll look at it on film and you just cannot tell how big they are.
sheaffer grubbs im disabled, haven’t been in a boat for 16 years and now im going to try. I wish i could have got a bigger boat but because of my limited income i had to choose the skeeter ZX150. Yeah its small but at least I’m getting another chance at fishing, i dont know if my busted spine can take the waves so im planing on taking it slow, with the ZX150 im sure thats enough power for me.
With today's technology! All brand name boats are all pretty much the same ! One might give ya a little something in a tray the other in a compartment! All in all their close ?????
Good observation. My buddy loves boat's with no gunnel or sides, not sure what you call that lip or edge 🤷 I prefer my front deck to have sides! I was hard core looking at skeeter's, but the dolphin effect isn't my thing and my dad won't fish with me if I go over 30-35 & I do occasionally cruise around slow sometimes so having a boat that struggle's to do that would be irritating to me.
I’ve lost at least 326 rods for being careless, and yet I keep going 75 down the lake without using that thing on the front. I think it straps it down not sure.
What kind of money? For a bass boat I guess quite a few people it’s a 6 month wait they are so backed up with orders. I’m guessing a few here and there.
Just bought my first skeeter and first brand new boat. Love mine so far.
Great information!! Heading out tomorrow to pick up a new 2022 Skeeter ZX150. You gave me some great idea of things I can add to it!
It is hard to explain. People need to experience the FXR's and ZXR's to understand how much different they are. Excellent review!
Thank you
It's great to have a boat that really "fits" you. Glad you like it. Makes everything go more smoothly.

I put it low around 4 and trim pretty high. Depends on what you have in the boat but that’s how I get maximum speed
Can a skeeter stand the test of time.
Great boats...and trailers
Lol Them old school numbers on side of your boat. Order some custom stickers. I have a old Express and ordered some up to date stickers. Lol

I just bought an FXR21. I have a Question. What is the ACC button on the main panel?
You don't know either?
