I'm back 4yrs later to hear this amp once again! I'm looking at one of these in my local shop, who my buddy owns and runs. I don't need another amplifier, but the price that "I" can get it for, is almost too good to be true! So, Monday morn I'm gonna take delivery. If it doesn't work for me I can still almost double the price im gettin it for. No brainer!!! Thanks again for the demo! 🤯🔥🔥🔥
Great review!!! I just put Celestion Ruby in my Tone King Imperial MK II combo and it works perfect! Smoothes out harsh high end and gives nice vintage warmth to the tone. Really works great with OD pedals. I am in tone heaven!!
Great video. I recently purchased this head and have it through a cab with one 15 in and three 4 in speakers. Sounds great and thank you ( from Canada) for your demo and channel.
Same here.....I have been observing this guys reviews for some time. They are with passion and . . . understanding of the hardware. Very detailed. If anyone knows anything about amplification, it's this guy. And for that . . . I say "Hello" many times more. Keep the reviews coming . . . And thanks for keeping us educated and informed. Thanks brother.
My god Johan, these past two videos have had some of the best tones you've ever had on the channel! This sounds just so good, it's like the perfect marshall tone without having to spend tens of thousands of dollars :)
Just about the best amplifier on the market, both in head/cab and combo. The styling is so damned cool too... I love that blue, but I'd probably opt for the traditional understated colors.
LAST! Will catch it tomorrow Joh! I am NOT staying up to 4am to see the premiere! TKS are bloody good amps, very 'hifi' sounding! (The 1s I've heard anyway!) Cheers!
Amazing difference the speaker cab. makes. You could do a video that compares a number of amp heads each one through say a 1-12 cab., then through a 2-12, then a 4-12. The diff. with this between the 1-12 and the 4-12 is huge.
It's so damn amazing how a cab could change the whole story. The Amp is great anyway. Do have a Fender Twin p/p with DF140 Signaturen an a Marshall 4210. Love them both so much. If Ya combine them. You're in a dream ♥️♥️♥️
Almost purchased this one, but pulled the trigger on a Goodsell Super 17 instead. Both amps did want I wanted, but after hearing Sam Vilo play the Goodsell, I was sold on the spot. Then sold the Goodsell (Idiot move - ugh!) to fund my Friedman Small box 50, only to have to sell that one because of the “bug” that hit most of us in our pocket books... Now, a fire just leveled the Warehouse for these amps and Friedman, Soldano, Eganater, Wampler, and others too, are going to be unavailable for the foreseeable future. The used market is gonna be busy for a bit and I’m hoping the MFG’s can gather and come back ASAP, as who knows just how much these GEMS are gonna fetch now...? Best! ✌🏼
So, I was going to buy one of these a few years back, but instead I'd purchased a Goodselll super 17 customized for me by the owner himself! I sold it, to buy a Friedman Small Box 50, which was a stellar amp too, but was also sold to purchase something else... Only to come back and buy those same amps again! 🔥 So, I have all those amps once again, and I'm, pulling the trigger on one of these amps too. It's used, but in mint condition, and for a HUGE fraction of the price ,new or used! My friend that's in the area owns and repairs amps and has his own shop. So, I visited yesterday to finally test drive one of these and I'm buying it Monday after having new tubes and a thorough going through. He's offering it to me for a huge discount, since he wheels and deals amps all day, every day. He likes to move inventory quickly, but when I saw this and finally played it, I was hooked!!! Such a great little amp. I'm getting the 1x12 combo, instead of head and cab. I like the 1x12 combo, as it's easy to transport from studio to gig, etc A terrific little amp!!! Thanks Johan! Best ✌🏼 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
That tone King kicks some butt compared to the Marshall they both sound great.long live Marshall and long live the Tone King..One Day I'll get one.of each.peace
Great sounding, versatile amp. I noticed you didn't use the mid bite much, was anticipating that to be like a range master (treble booster) not so, but does a great job with high mids naturally, awesome video.....thank you
Nice tones! How does it compare feel wise to the Mercury V with humbuckers. Which do you prefer, with the obvious caveat that they are different sounding amps?
Ended up getting a Gremlin head that they just introduced Might have to get one of those cabs but plan on starting it off w 4/10s seeing how they are Fender style amps
Through the tone king cab it sounds good. Through the Marshall cab I think it sound even more Amazing than a Marshall. Kinda like a Marshall only more polished. Probably great for that slick 80s Journey arena type of tone(put on TONS of delay :) ).
@@JohanSegeborn I was a bit unfair though, the Marshall is a big 4x12. So if you could get a 4x12 by the same company it would be a more fair comparison. :D
I ha e played the Carr old and new versions, the new one is what you would want but I found both of them lacking bite treble with a Les Paul. Good feel and reverb is is nice but I wasn't impressed much for the price. This tone king sounds much brighter and sounds like has a nice bounce to it with tube rectified. I like it.
@@utecastronoova863 Thanks for the info. I've played the Mercury V and love it and haven't tried the Imperial. Now it's on my list of amps to try before I spend any cash.
Two killer amps for sure. The recording setup of both amps is very similar so you can compare this video to the Carr video: ruclips.net/video/DISLBIX_3AI/видео.html
A really GREAT demo of a great amp. I nearly bought one but I was scared of the price. I got a Victory V40 with 6L6 tubes instead and I am happy with that but this vid has got me thinking! I think we are of a similar age and have absorbed the same likings for particular guitar sounds ;-)
@@paulcowart3174 Great amp. If you push the front end with a good clean boost or low-gain pedal, you get the most responsive and dynamic OD sound. And the clean tones are some of the best I've ever heard.
Thanks for your Videos. I own one in Combo.. Would you recommend to split Channels and use it with different Guitars, I prefer to play Strat on Rhythm Channel with some Pedals like Box of Rock and Fuzz and I use Lead Channel for Paula and use only Cry Baby.. Whats your opinion ?

I have had my imperial mk2 for 11 months now and its wild how versatile it really is
Me too, I love mine.

That Marshall cab is insane. Such amazing tone.
We are so lucky to have Johan out there making great videos and satisfying our curiosity over stuff. Thanks man. Cheers from Brazil.
A person could write their life story in the comments and Johan would just reply "Cheers!" Like the amazing guy he is.
Thanks, that’s kind of you! ;-)
Thanks my friend!
Great sounding amp that simply sounds even better through the Marshall cab. Great demo!
One’s not better than the other🤦🏻♂️ They both do completely different things. Can agree on that amp though.
Great review!!!

Thanks Nathan
Looks absolutely fabulous! And with some really sweet vintage overdrive tones to boot! I want one badly!
Still waiting for Johan's take on the Marshall studio vintage!!!!!!!!!!

The Studio 15 would be cool! I have one, and its amazing!

Love the gravitational waves visible when you dig in 👍🏼
That's a great looking amp as well! It would look great at the side of a swimming pool driving the underwater speakers.
Haha the little mermaid mini stack!
Hahaha! Indeed
It looks like ice cream. And sounds sweet.
Man, I've wanted a Tone King amp for a long time. Either this one, a Sky King; or the original Falcon. They just sound so GOOD!
First impression before you started playing: stunning amp and cab build.
My god Johan, these past two videos have had some of the best tones you've ever had on the channel! This sounds just so good, it's like the perfect marshall tone without having to spend tens of thousands of dollars :)

I love how you can SEE how loud it is.

2 videos in a row, same Akg headphones that I am listening through!
I think you could play any amp through that vintage marshall 4x12 and would sound amazing.
I think this guy could demonstrate any amp, and it would sound amazing.
Compared with other equipment demonstrators on RUclips, less is more.
Beautiful tones. Definitely a quality rig and cool vintage style. Good stuff!
Thanks Mike!
Hi, Johan! I was a little late, but it was awesome video! Now I am looking back - I never used that stuff, but sounds nice! See you!
Zigfrid
Glad to hear it! Cheers Zigfrid
As an owner, I can say these are awesome! Every time I want to sell it, I play it and immediately change my mind. I have the combo though
Cheers Walter
Would you say it does a good zeppelin type of tone
Wow that lead-channel at 2:08! Just great. Love that tone
Thanks
This was a great demo.
That sounds better through the marshal cabinet but probably due to the extra speakers.
Great Job
Thanks Evan! Glad to hear that
