      @@natalielovesflowers A pirouette on pointe is more difficult than turns in ballet flats (slippers) on relevé. ... However, it is a much more difficult task for a woman on pointe to perform three or more pirouettes. ABT's Gillian Murphy is a great turner on pointe and makes multiple turns with great form look easy. That’s all I know

      @raraavis7782 6 лет назад +87

      Galastel
      Oh yeah....I looked into that actually (that’s how desperate I am...), it’s completely unaffordable. Bespoke can easily be 2000-3000€.
      What I meant was, it would be lovely, if regular shoe manufacturers would acknowledge that people’s feet have different shapes and offer different lines accordingly.
      Although some now have ‚wide fit‘ lines...but that doesn’t work for me either. They are just wider in the uppers, the actual sole isn’t. They should be named ‚big fit‘, not ‚wide fit‘ because they won’t fit a person with a broad foot any better than regular ones.

    • @AlexaFaie
      @AlexaFaie 6 лет назад +3

      I thought that too! I honestly wish there were this much variety in regular shoes to take account of the different fit issues a foot can have as I seem to have weird combinations! I need quite a bit of space at the front, but have super narrow ankles so shoes tend to just fall off there even if it's the correct length. Plus such a high instep/arch that I can't deal with most shoes as they don't come up high enough on the sides. I do wonder how tricky it would be to fit me in point shoes. I did ballet as a kid and worked through the grades but stopped just before I would have ended up on pointe because my teacher was moving & I'd have had to switch to a big class and it was hard enough with the 4 of us as it was (I'm autistic and struggle in large groups) and then my teacher also commented that my thighs were already too large for me to be a ballerina anyway so I may as well just give up as they'd only get bigger when I hit puberty.
      I don't know if it's a good or bad thing or not that I never ended up doing pointe since I have hypermobile joints and already at 31 now have issues with my feet. It seems I've inherited my grandma's claw toes 😞 I reckon that ballet wouldn't have helped me out there...
      I do have some of those ballet boots (supposed to be fetish wear but I honestly just got them for the style & because I could pretend I can do pointe!) but it's not the same thing since they are lace up ankle boots and have a heel.

You bleed, you break nails, you break toes if your partner drops you, you twist ankles, strain tendons and get blisters so bad you cant walk but the feeling of getting up on pointe and dancing with passion is nothing short of exhilarating and soul stirring. Dont discredit the hard work and dedication it takes, but instead go see a ballet and watch how they move..I mean REALLY watch. Its breathtaking.

      I was a male ballet dancer for 20 years and at one point did a role in drag that requires me to go on point
      It gave me a great appreciation of what the girls went through and I lost quite a few toenails.
      In three weeks I was quite comfortable but I had ballet training .
      This experience really helped my technique as one has to "pull up" and think your leg begins at just under your lower rib it comes from your core
      Nothing but respect for the incredible women who dance on point and do 32 fouettes when I can only manage 10.

    I got injured when I was 15, and decided to put my dancing shoes away. My feet of course are no longer quite as flexible, and now that I’m 19 I’m getting back into ballet, but I need to get refitted because feet change. Lolol it’s gonna be fun explaining that it’s my first refitting???

    I remember my first pair. It was old Grishko's from older dancer (halfdead). Then I got my own pair, it was Grishko Maya I. I Loved them. When I started dancing again, I got Grishko's Dream pointe (twice) and they are fine, but now I bought Grishko's Smart and I'm really looking forward to see how they're gonna be. Why I'm writing this... In my country, they arre not fitting your pairs. Or maybe It was just me, but I think they don't care at all. I woud like to have someone to fit my pointeshoes so I can be sure they are right for me.

      Grishko's pointe shoes are a DREAM. I was lucky enough to get two pairs. Best pointe shoes I ever had. But yeah, here they don't do fitting either (unless you're a pro? I wouldn't know). I got my first pair from a shop that sold bathing suits lol.

    My 11 year was fitted for her first pair of pointe shoes the beginning of January 2021. She is in two different brands of pointe shoes (one is a harder shank-Russian pointe; and one is a softer shank-Bloch). This mama had to get both pairs lol. Her one foot is very flexible and the other is flexible but not as flexible, she was told both of her arches are very pretty, and I believe she tends to sometimes sickle, that foot is in a harder shank. She was very excited to get promoted, her ballet teacher gave her her letter on her 11th birthday in December of 2020. None of the dancers at her studio wears toe pads either. I found this video very helpful and educational. I never got to the level of dance to be able to go en pointe. So I’m learning through my daughters experiences. 🙂

I loved my dance studio and danced almost my entire career there BUT my teacher didnt teach dance for u to be a professional, she taught dance for happiness, confidence no matter ur body size, fun and love for the heart so although i didnt have any guidance for shoes and had to learn everything myself, i still had the opportunity to dance for disney, sesame street and the rose bowl parade all thanks to my studio teacher.

    Wish I had had someone who knew how to really fit toe shoes. I was 10 when I started on pointe. My teacher took me out of town to buy my first pair but the sales person didn’t really have the expertise you have. I really struggled and went through so much pain. As time went on I did change to a softer show. I did take and finally taught for 13 years. My health stopped me from going to New York to study as my teacher wanted when I was 12. I had to give it up when I was 21. It was my passion ‘. This was long long ago as I am 77. I still kept a pair. The dancers are so fortunate to have someone like you.

    Never forget your first pairs of points, I sure don't anyways! It's something you work on from until you're a toddler ( 2-3) until you're ready (pre-teen or older) depending upon your starting age. Takes a long time to build the stamina, muscle and technique to dance on point! Even when you get your first pair it can still be year(s) before you dance a recital or entire class on them!! Really is something special and brings back find memories of my yesteryear and how dance made me who I am today.....bittersweet watching this one😕
