Like the Abrahams these tanks were built to defend against waves of Soviet armour and they have proved very very successful in that. During the Cold War it was never envisaged that NATO armour would be advancing across the muddy terrain found in Ukraine then part of the Soviet Union so no surprise that the weight is a problem in the wet season. The plan was fight a defensive retreat to the Rhine and if that line was crossed it would be nukes
I got to sit inside one of these as a teenager. It was definitely spacious, but only for a tank, I got to move the turret around too, which was cool. 😅
\apparently, there are no other track patterns for not only the Challenger 2, but any British tracked military vehicles. It doesn't make any sense to me, either. 🇺🇦Slava Ukraini!🇺🇦🇬🇧
The track Pads are there to protect metalled roads when moving around in peace time, during hostilities they should be removed, a fairly straight forward task, to give better traction on soft ground. Amazed that this was not shared during training.
Exactly, I served in 2RTR and we knew something was really up if we were ever told to remove the rubber pads on the tracks. Fortunately we never received that order.
Are these the heroes who shouted "kill all Russians"? Are these the heroes who burned people alive in Odessa? Are these the heroes who tortured a Russian soldier so that his wife would commit a terrorist act in Russia?
I am sure someone will tell me to shut up as I don't know what I am talking about, as an X tankie myself my understanding as regards the track pads they are there so they don't destroy the roads in muddy conditions your supposed to take them off to get more traction, a long laborious job as each link has one held on by a nut and bolt, that's what I got taught when I was driving Chieftains.
Yeah you're 100% correct, I don't know why they are using the pads. Maybe it was something they skipped over in training, or perhaps it's a choice from the Ukrainians to help prevent getting tracked? They aren't exactly storming Russian positions with the Chally afterall, only using it as a glorified sniper rifle.
Could you please tell the tankers that the rubber track pads are removable and as far as I know only serve to prevent damage on hard roads. They are not supposed to be used in mud

@ I think military’s should be investing more in drone tech and counter drone tech because it just doesn’t really make sense anymore to have a modern army. I imagine AI powered drone swarms sort of like the storm shadow missile will become a wonder weapon like the tank did in WW1.
Tanks have a problem because Ukraine uses them different then western doctrine. In the west we would attack with armor, air, and infantry. Ukraine does not have complete control of the skies. So they are not as effective as they could be.
In a war the scale of this, the 14 tanks is more of a liability than an asset, with separate training, support, engineers, different parts and servicing. What an absolute joke.

And even that village is still contested, according to osint from last week.

Hard choice really, the M1A1 is a really bad ass tank, so is the Challenger 2. I think the M1A1 slightly harder to maintain due to its engine technology versus the CH2. That said both are awesome and I think pretty equal in most areas.
M1A1s armour is lacking a lot compared with the Chally 2. It's more mobile though. It's a similar story with Leopards. They lack the armour of the Chally 2, but they're much more mobile and the Leo 2A6s have a better gun.
The Fulda gap would have probably become the most radioactive place on earth...

Incredible soldiers and people! Slava Ukrainie!
tracks can be replaced and solid steel with mud cleats can be installed. im not sure why they don't seem to be able to get any.
\apparently, there are no other track patterns for not only the Challenger 2, but any British tracked military vehicles. It doesn't make any sense to me, either.

Thank you for uploading.

Wow two months impressive.
That’s what men fighting a war look like - they’re determination and bravery is a credit to their families and their country.
God bless you 🇬🇧🇺🇦
Could you please tell the tankers that the rubber track pads are removable and as far as I know only serve to prevent damage on hard roads. They are not supposed to be used in mud
Are those pads on the tracks only on there for road moves so you don't tear up the tarmac? I thought they could be removed
That’s what I thought.
They are always left on
You drive on everything. For better grip in the winter tanks have single tiles with more grip.

I used to think being a tanker would be much better than being an infantryman. After seeing some terrifying accounts I've change my mind, it's not just the drones. When they get attacked by a rapid firig high calibre weapon, but it's not powerful enough to pierce the armour, the crew don't die but are deaf and blind.
Ukraine is winning we just need to support them for 10 more years.
With the support of the Western countries, modern weapons, a better prepared army and a larger number of defenders, they will be able to defeat the invader.
"Invader" said people who stole these invaders oils and massacred their people in 2014
1 -Volume beats modern every time. (for example; having 500-600 hundreds of "best in the world" tanks is noting compared to having 2000-2500 "good enough" tanks at your disposal.)
2 -how they get to be "better prepared" and in "larger numbers" when even western media reports they're critically understaffed all across the frontline?
Demoralized, tired, understaffed, losing the ground daily and despite all of that, they will somehow be able to defeat the invader.
Would you enlighten us and please say how exactly?
One challenger destroyed hundreds of Russian tanks heard
2 I think if not a 3rd. 11 left. Sunak said he'd send another 14... never did.
There’s been multiple challengers. I believe Russia has some in their town square along with Leopard and Abram’s tanks.
@@michaelcuellar403 There have been two confirmed losses: one during the counteroffensive last year and one in Kursk in August. The Russians just spam multiple angles of the same tank over and over.
I’ve seen videos of western tanks being taken out by one but even if they used 20 $300 drones, that’s still only $6,000 to take out a $20,000,000 tank. That’s still a 3,333% ROI.
@ I think military’s should be investing more in drone tech and counter drone tech because it just doesn’t really make sense anymore to have a modern army. I imagine AI powered drone swarms sort of like the storm shadow missile will become a wonder weapon like the tank did in WW1.
We can learn allot from the Ukrainians

Tanks have a problem because Ukraine uses them different then western doctrine. In the west we would attack with armor, air, and infantry. Ukraine does not have complete control of the skies. So they are not as effective as they could be.
In a war the scale of this, the 14 tanks is more of a liability than an asset, with separate training, support, engineers, different parts and servicing. What an absolute joke.
IF Ukraine had 200 abrams and 600 challenger 2 tanks...they could actually push back Putin's forces.
Heck If Britain had 600 challenger 2s mate the world would be a different place but Britain cannot even sustain those 12 challenger left in Ukraine the Abrams is a much more capable tank.

Good content thanks. The 40% of Kursk area lost is a myth that western media keep reporting. It is based on the maximum extent of Ukraine's advance, including recce patrols etc. Ukrainian forces have only lost a single village of the territory they gained control over in Kursk. And even that village is still contested, according to osint from last week.
You are aware that Ukraine currently controls about 2% of the entire Kursk region?
Thank 🕊️ you
@@delian123456789 I was referring to the portion of Kursk under Ukrainian control. Western media often repeats that Ukraine 'lost' 40% of the territory it had there, which is incorrect.

I always thought both Challenger and the Leo had two different sets of belts, one rubberpadded, and one not rubberpadded.
The rubberversion was supposedly the peacetimeversion that wouldnt tear up roads etc, the unpadded the wartime version for better grip offroad. -

I wonder which tank the Ukrainians think is superior: M1A1 vs. Challenger 2? Just out of curiosity
A Ukrainian tanker on one outlet said that if we're talking tank vs. tank then the Abrams would dominate everything on the battlefield no question about it.
Hard choice really, the M1A1 is a really bad ass tank, so is the Challenger 2. I think the M1A1 slightly harder to maintain due to its engine technology versus the CH2. That said both are awesome and I think pretty equal in most areas.
Leopard 2
M1A1s armour is lacking a lot compared with the Chally 2. It's more mobile though. It's a similar story with Leopards. They lack the armour of the Chally 2, but they're much more mobile and the Leo 2A6s have a better gun. Chally 2 for dug in positions or areas which are expected to face tanks/ATGMs. M1A1s and Leo's for assaults and flanks.
Leo2 is better. challenger gets stuck here and there as it is too heavy.
Best tank in the world, unless you're in denial.
Must be providing foreign forces with so much useful battle feedback. Yet another, of the many reasons to support Ukraine. Might be an idea to upgrade all the current C2 fleet and build a properly upgrades C3......yet again this war proves that tanks are not a thong of the past.
