Also, just one more thing. Went to the show with an elderly man that had never seen a production show. This show is the quintessential Paris review. Without prompting the mairtre d we were seated first row back to the stage, stage right. In the opening number the feathers brushed across his head such that he turned his chair back to the table and facing the stage. He was thrilled!!!!!
Of course he was thrilled as the girls,many of them were dancing with their breasts exposed,tell me,what other country allows a public theatre to show dancing girls dancing in front of male dancers singers and a public paying audience of mostly foreign tourists who cannot see such shows in their own country,if such shows were allowed in other countries,were are video clips on U Tube ?,simple,because it is only the video clips from Paris public theatres that one can see on U Tube,these girls dancer are mostly foreign and dance with their breasts exposed because they are,according to a former Moulin Rouge dancer Lisa O'Brien paid more for doing so,and the Paris public theatres have to recruit from abroad as the French girls will only dance covered up,that to me is exploitation,and Kathleen why do you like to see half naked girls dancing with male dancers does it give you a thrill ?,what you see at these public theatres are adult entertainment shows that bars under 18s from seeing them,and here they are appearing on the main platform of U Tube,there is an under 18 ban in France that applies to the evening shows in the Moulin Rouge,Lido-De-Paris etc,yet the Moulin Rouge etc and other people down load these 18+ adult shows to U Tube were under 18s can easy see them,they do not have to search for them,thus breaching their codes of practice and community standards,what you see at the Moulin Rouge etc is not art or beauty,it is simply looking at girl dancers with their breasts exposed,no morality at all,no wonder there are so many rapes when such shows can be seen on U Tube.just exploitation of mainly foreign girls.

In the 70's for 7 years I worked in Hallelujah Hollywood, Folies Bergere, and the Lido at the Stardust as a showgirl. We don't share opinions of the nudity. Did not see this edition but saw Formidable. The large number of performers for this size stage makes such an exciting show. So gorgeous. Especially the women. Perfect bodies. But, being in Paris where all the talent is makes for good casting in all the ranks. Thanks for this upload.

We've just seen Moulin Rouge less than an hour ago and I couldn't wait to write a review about my disappointment.
1. Seating - first come, first serve basis: We booked 3 months in advance and were given the worst possible seat in the house, 50% of the view were blocked and we practically stood for 2 hours after protesting about the seat allocation and was ignored. the waiter had to walk over me to pass the passage no less than 10 times and did nothing about the seating.
2. Show quality - get the cheapest ticket you can get just to tick the " i've done it" box. The show was sub-standard and I'd have paid less for a circus show that was better than the Moulin Rouge.
3. Drinks - Do not bother with the drinks option, you'll get the cheapest champagne off the shelf and you'd be better off buying yourself a bottle of water.
4. the best part of the show was a man with a dog practicing ventriloquism. Hardly worth the money spent.
All and all I should have just taken a photo outside of the what appeared to be an unsafe neighborhood and left the rest to imagination. very regrettable expensive experience and I should have spent the money on a good meal instead.
p.s - we booked the 11pm show and arrived well before door open(10:45). We stood in the cold/rain and did not get in until 11:30 followed by a very rushed start.
From what it appears in this video, Le Moulin Rouge has very much gone in a similar way as Las Vegas (here where I live). What was once a place of degradation and haven for rich ne'er do wells, have become places of tourism and family fun. The faces have changed to meet the demands of population.
+JaiByrd But that's part of the fun - Moulin Rouge is a landmark and thus is tied to certain standards, the Moulin Rouge of the 30's and 40's couldn't exist now - because our standards have changed and the Moulin Rouge of Ziddler's day was probably illegal in Ziddler's day.
I'd go to the Moulin Rouge because the show looks like a lot of fun, but I'd have no issues with hunting down a more traditional cabaret club for a more genuine experience. Burlesque has a huge rise in popularity and the Moulin Rouge being a commercial entity allows other establishments to be more authentic. Bohemia made the Moulin Rouge, but it also destroyed it by imbuing it with so much notoriety.

@@johnquinn7068 Where did you see this video you speak of? I worked at the Casino de Paris, the Folies Bergere and the Moulin Rouge and never saw anything like that. Normally it is only the showgirls who are topless, not the dancers; it's a different job with a different contract. Showgirls know it is a part of the job . . . and I never knew any of them to be prostitutes, though of course some may have had sugar daddies just as some of the male dancers may have. Find something more serious to worry about.
@@MrCrowebobby I saw the video clips on u tube,and one i reported to u tube,it was of a line of bare breasted females dressed as nuns with a male dressed as a priest holding a cross,that was a disgrace and an insult to the Catholic church,that video clip was from a stage performance from Crazy Horse,i looked Crazy Horse up on Google and it is a public cabaret theatre like the others you have worked in and not a private club as you say,and i guess that those girls who are bare breasted on stage do not dance ?,funny that because i saw a video clip of a public stage performance from the Moulin Rougue depicting a scene from a wild west musical of bare breasted females dancing and singing with the males dressed as cowboys tossing these bare breasted females over their shoulders with their bare breasts bobbing up and down,and it is still on u tube,i thought the video clip of that wild west scene was something out of a soft core porn video,no wonder Maulin Rougue is called the red window,and right in the heart of the red light district,and how do the male dancers feel about working with bare breasted females,must be difficult i bet,maybe many of them are gay and not affected.
@@johnquinn7068 I know the Crazy Horse and knew a girl who worked there. I didn't say it was a private club, I said it was a strip club -- as public as the Musical Halls, but concentrating on the nudes, with novelty acts thrown in. I worked for one of the choreographers who choreographed numbers there. As for the male dancers, straight or gay, as well as the stage hands, they don't around with a constant hard-ons because there are topless girls around. At the Casino de Paris, most of the dancers, male and female shared on huge shower, though not all the girls wanted to or did. Of course there was always that one other girl or guy who turned you on, but they were also "work mates" and you didn't make any unwelcome moves on them. If you managed to get together, fine. As a male dancer, you get used to holding and lifting girls in your first year of classes, and in a Manhattan there are some Broadway showgirls around that anyone, straight or gay, can see are incredibly beautiful. I've always been gay, but I've had sex with 5 different girls in my life, one was a dancer who thought she could "reform" me. It's a different world from the factory floor or the department store; like sports teams are a different world with men crawling all over each other and sharing showers. That's all I can tell you. Take care and stay well. P.S. The Moulin Rogue is not in the middle of the red-light district, i.e., Pigalle, it is adjacent and part of a large entertainment quarter.
