He really had the most fabricated Character development , he understood his enemies who were the titans , he changed a view towards them as Titans were the ones who destroyed his home and ate his mom as well , he showed sympathy to his blood thirty enemy in the final ep of S3 showing mercy and understanding the reality that those titans were converted without their own will and were one of their kind ( eldians ) since the start they have been blood thirsty to the titans and instead of staying blinded by his vengeance for titans and to avenge his mom he shifted his view and understood and accepted the titans had done nothing wrong and it always have been these people . Thats a soo much peak of a character development shifting the view of the character and developing the character without changing of his primary goals . Really a Goat 🐐

Yep, that's actually Marley's fault, they with their warmongering with other countries to dominate the world and greed to acquire fuel gas ( oil of attack on titan world ) under paradise started the expedition with Rainer, Annie, Bertelot which resulted in the destruction of walls. People of paradise were clueless and were living peacefully ignorant of outside world , and would have continued to live. This remind me of North Korea lol. Walls got destroyed, eren's mom died which started the cycle. Marley reignited the great titan war which had been ended for good by king Reiss

For me it always comes back to the moment he kissed Historia’s hand. In that moment he truly sees EVERYTHING. His face says it all. That’s the moment he realizes just how far he truly has to go to save the people he loves. In S4 he’s so dark and cold-blooded not because he’s evil, but because the weight of what he HAS to do - and doesn’t WANT to do - is unbearable.

This is the point I see so many people missing. Everyone is so focused on who's bad and who's good, but they don't see the overall message. You nailed the part where it's a story about the fragility of life, it really is. However it is dictated by the worst of humanities qualities, hatred, fear, war. They think this will lead to peace and freedom, but everyone caught up in this bloody mess always realizes that no one is in the wrong yet can't change anything about it. The best realization of this is Bertholdt in the second part of season three during his final transformation, we hear his inner monologue. He gauges all his life experiences thus far. From being a warrior candidate, and wanting to be a hero, and how his brainwashing as an "honorary Marleyan" caused him to also crack in season 2. He accepts the gravity and reality of the situation he is in, he can't escape his mission he can't change courses. The world has made him into a pawn in a position he has to fulfill because he's already in place. The bittersweet last lines of his contradicting everything he's ever believed in his morals and ideals melted into the strong determination to do the task at hand all because of the cruel world he is in. We see that line repeated a great amount in the show too, "cruel world" and almost every major Charater has some sort of embrace of this line, accepting, denouncing, and relishing the tragic yet strongest words in the story. The reality is that everyone's biggest fight isn't with the Titans but within themselves. Drowned in hatred and lies, yet there is nothing they feel they can do about it, at least successfully or with any meaning at all. This is where our mc Eren fits in the world. Someone who's is passionate, bold, and relentless in the pursuit of his ideals. The attack titan, despite what may lie ahead of it, will always chase freedom. I wouldn't say that Eren hasn't changed, but really just solidified as just described. Through all the pain and sorrow, he is the only one willing to do what everyone realizes is right, even if it's in the worst inhumane way possible. He shoulders the weight of humanities hatred, woes, and sorrows. Became the devil not because he wanted to but because he had to. The world unbeknownst asked for it and received it. Which I think is a nice parallel to Erwin in my opinion. If you go back and watch the show in it's entirety again from even the Opening and ending songs for each season you get a grasp of the feeling of the shows world and characters. Watch it with an open mind and absorb and put yourself in every characters shoes no matter how small or insignificant, you will find deep meaning in everyone's life in that show and empathy for the way everything turns out. And sure getting philosophical may not sound exciting, but it really makes you not just understand the show but feel it, as if you're living in it yourself. Anyway, that's my rant 😅

I agree I’m actually a philosophy major and this is how we think to put one in one’s shoes and understand. Being able to see the multiple view points rather than a single objective view point the questions like is eren evil are questions that lead to what is evil and what does it mean the reasons to drive a sane person to do an act considered an evil. What is the inherent nature of humans. What is power and what does it do to people what is the proper use of it. Things like these are questions and they leave you with no answers

People think Eren is evil but they really don’t get it, he’s not the big bad villain that you see in other stories, he’s not even like madara or Obito who are both anti-villains trying to do a what they think is a good thing regardless of the immoral actions. Eren is a just a boy trying to protect his friends, family and peoples and it’s a situation pushed to the extreme, the people of outside of eren’s homeland all hate and I mean hate his kind and want them dead no matter what and so Eren pushed into a corner with nothing left to do but either go all out and wipe out those who try to wipe his people out or left his people get massacred for the sake of those who have no connection to him.

I think, Actually Eren didn't wanted to destroy the world
      He was bound with fate
The King Fritz gave kind of a curse that if the outside world try to destroy paradise then it will be destroyed but after the King started feeling guilty of what he had done so he passed his ideologies to his further generations of not attacking
      But the curse still Remains
From the 1st episode of season 1
When paradise was getting Invaded by the outside world for the first time, Eren got the nightmare of the whole future of what now have to happen because of the curse
It was decided at that time
Even the purpose of the Attack Titan was this, as Grisha said - to oppose and rebel the Royal Blood's ideologies. To make everything happen, the curse.
After kissing historia's hand, he already saw what was gonna happen and he can't change it
He even asked Sasha's last words to know if future can be changed
But no, it always have to happen what is decided and Eren can't change it
He even tried to push his friends away from him instead of telling them everything
He even lied that he's doing everything by his own will
He even knew that he will be killed by his friends, that's why he said that he hate them and wanted them to hate him
      Spoiler
He can even took the power of all the Titan shifters but he didn't
Instead he even fought with Armin's colossal titan
He even hugged that child and crying by saying - "I'm Sorry, I'm Sorry" because he already knew what he have to do ( in chapter 132 )
He even tried to stop Zeke from screaming even though when it would actually help them winning and in s3, he also told Historia to eat him when he thought that his father was wrong, it shows that he can be totally selfless for the righteous acts
And he hide the fact that he can use the power of founding Titan by touching a Titan with Royal Blood, shows that he can't just take lives for his own purposes
In the opening of s3 'My War', the main lyrics were like - "The Angel disguised as Devil"
He even said to Reiner that he used to see outside world as his enemies but learned that they are the same
But he said he have no choice
And by saying that - 'I have to keep moving forward' is for that he have to face the fate
When he talked with everyone ( his friends ), he told them that he's gonna erase their memories of this moment and that their memories will come again when he will die
So that his friends can kill him, and also told Armin to not to tell Mikasa that he cried in the path, "I don't want to die, I don't want to die" because he already knew that he will be killed by Mikasa
If he decided to tell everything to his friends, then people will still see paradise as a Devil, so instead of doing this he took everything over himself saying that it's his own free will and he is doing it because he want to and showed himself as the villian to the World and decided to act solely without telling everyone anything so they all ( paradise ) will not be blamed for this by the outside world
When the people of the outside world saw people with ODM gear on Eren's founding Titan, they start saying like - "Paradise!! They are trying to save us, they are really protecting us", they will be seen as saviours now.
Since the 1st season and beginning of the Series, we always watch the story from Eren's POV and also listen to his inner voice and whatever he is thinking in his mind and why is he doing whatever he was doing
But after that historia's hand kiss scene and from s4 we never heard his thoughts and POVs.
The Boy who always seeked for freedom,
      Was Caged by the fate.

I find it funny how people are so ready to jump on the "Villain Eren" train because he doesn't live up to the typical "Hero" stereotype of being selfless and sacrifices everything for the greater good, throught the series he's shown to be MORE human than most of the stereotypical protagonists in Anime due to the fact that he'll selfishly put what is most dear to him before the rest of the world
It also helps his case that the rest of the world would sooner kill his people aswell regardless of whether or not he takes the stereotypical hero role

Thats a soo much peak of a character development shifting the view of the character and developing the character without changing of his primary goals . Really a Goat 🐐.

The people who are saying that Eren only did the Rumbling to protect Paradise and his friends missed a very important part of his character. The part that Eren revealed when taking to Ramzi.
He tood Ramzi that, yes, he wanted to do the Rumbling to protect the island and his friends, but that’s not all. He revealed that when he found the outside world was not like the world he envisioned in Armin’s book, when he found out that humanity existed outside the walls, he was *dissapponted.* He wanted to wipe everything away.

It's apart of his character development. He's consistent to what he always would have been but Eren did change after he had the knowledge of what titans were and the truth behind it.
If eren allowed young eren to know the truth too soon he wouldn't have ever worked with the scouts to kill all the titans while he was naive thus never allowing eldia to become free from the walls. Eren also allowed his mother to die by letting grisha get the attack titan instead of protecting his family. However if eren never got the attack titan and let his mother live young eren would've probably still joined the scouts and died to the old man titan in the early seasons thus leading to eldia's downfall.
My point is eren did change but it is the most natural change in a character I've seen in any media. They really took time with his character. Its extremely well done.

People in these comments seem to forget that Eren is literally committing genocide on the whole planet aside from Paradis. His plan is to literally wipe off every single man, woman, child, and unconceived fetus off the face of the planet, even the animals aren't being spared.

    • @melanie13_
      @melanie13_ Год назад

And this what the Marleyans and the rest of the world was abt to do too including killing children. They planned way before to kill all Eldians just bc of an old story shit abt the King Fritz and Ymir which happened decades ago when those eldians literally have no idea that they were being called Devils or being talked with some hatred for an unnecessary reasons.
They're out there fighting for their life against titana thinking they're the only human race left bc their memories were erased while Marleyans are out there sleeping well without any worries or fear. So Eren do the 1st move to get revenge 🤷🏽‍♀️. Marley is a big country itself where there's billion of civilians there and he wanted to kill them all after he find what they truly wanted to do to his people or what they have done to those Eldians turned into titans.
So we're not in position to blame or judge him for that. He just put an Uno reverse card on them. Btw did you really read the manga to understand the whole shit bc he never actually planned to unconceived fetus off the planet or get human become sterile it was actually his brother idea where he actually refused to do so.
So read well the manga and try to understand

But you see, Eren actually is the hero who is sacrificing everything for the greater good. The way I see it is this:
Eren knows his friends and his people.
Eren knows that once he makes the decision to go through with what he “has” to do, his people - or rather his friends, will want to stop him from what he’s doing. He knows they are capable of accomplishing that and in the end, since they will be the ones to stop him, the world will have no choice but to see them (his kind, subjects of Ymir) are not bad people (or rather blood) at all and are worthy and deserving of living just as much as the rest of the world, to make the world stop and think about what they are really doing (being cruel and evil towards fellow humans, regardless of the blood that runs through them) - which will cause peace to finally be made.
