Rediscover Reading By Shyaonti Talwar - Burlington English

This webinar will focus on understanding the complexities and integration of reading sub-skills in the English classroom. We will discuss engaging participants using poetry as learners and then reflect on the activities done as teachers. The workshop outcome will be achieved through pre-, while and post-reading activities.
The participants will be familiarised with complex reading sub-skills, a range of question types, and a structured lesson designed around a text that focuses on the different reading sub-skills. We will raise awareness of reading not just as a receptive skill but also as an exercise enabling the honing of productive skills. The participants will also be introduced to the scope of enabling critical thinking and generating multiple narratives by engaging with the text. Finally, through demonstration and reflection, the participants will be sensitised to a learner-oriented lesson structure that enables peer teaching and learner autonomy through subjective expression.
