      😆 we do that at work. A case of T4 Rotella as an example, we're charging customers 2 or even 3 times what they can get it off the shelf. 2 customers next to each other get the exact same Quaker State 5w30 Syn Blend and get charged a different price per gallon between the 2 places.

    It doesn't matter what he sold his for or what you paid for your set. What matters is that it's a free market and one man's profit shouldn't be any less that the others. You are the tuner that has customers come to your shop. Should you troubleshoot and quote a price your standard shop rate or should you quote the price of the south side tuner that's 20% less and he has his wife throw in a hand job and a ham sandwich? We all love ham sandwich and I'd bet there's a few that likes the hand job! But sometimes quality is cheaper regardless of what the other guy throws in. Damn I'm hungry now, wonder if the Ole Lady will get pissed if I wake her and tell her to get to the kitchen? 🤣🤣🤣

    When I was a teenager there would be a guy selling craftsman sockets, ratchets, and other tools at the local flea market. His entire gig was buying the giant craftsman mechanics set that would be on sale at Sears, and then splitting it up and selling it piece by piece at the I85 flea market.

    This is just an impossible question for folks like you who work on cars frequently. There's really no true answer, but consider this... How much will that set make you? How much will it save you headache? How well does it work for you? That's the true determination of value, not just what it cost. Sometimes we buy things that are super expensive, just to make life easier and it's worth it's weight in gold because we don't have to struggle or we can save time.

  • @ASEmastermechanic

    Tell me this is a video just to get views because I cannot believe your feel you were "ripped off". The point the buyer got them for free, half-price, was inherited, found in a dumpster, stole them, anything, that does NOT matter. Up until the time of clicking that bid button you can ask anything you like. Yes, I know it stings a little when we buyers find out the seller is getting a sweet deal, but that is life. Up until you hit the bid button you thought you were getting a good deal based on the market value of the item. We all have a tendency to get the best deal possible, I get it. So let me flip the argument. Let's say this seller bought it from Snap On online or the truck. He pays close to retail price. Starts an Ebay auction at $.99 cents and for whatever reason does not get many bids, would you make a video saying you got these for $25 and were ripped off? As crazy as Ebay is favoring buyers, this would not even qualify for a return. Under what category? I have had Ebay sellers not sending me items after payment, showing shiny wrenches, but than sending me rusty tools after purchase, sending items that they say work, but do NOT, buying an item and getting a picture of the item rather than the item itself, stating an item is new, but than finding out is used, sellers saying they are in California and the box comes 2 months later from China, these to me are rip offs. You sound like a sour puss. So according to you. should the seller refund your money since he got it for free? Maybe even refund your shipping charges too? Give me a break. I get it, we all been there. You pay x amount and the seller forgets to remove the sales tag and we find out we paid way more money that what they did, that is life. Lastly, while the little men battle it out for tool scraps, the Snap On people making billions (1.7 billion last year); no questions how much they make on each of these sets. Snap On almost has like a cult like following. Its the same with high ends cars. Can a Ferrari take you from point a to point B just like a Nissan Sentra? Well, yes. But some people want the very best. For the price of one Snap-on socket I can get an entire 14 piece set USA somewhere else.

    I buy a lot off ebay knowing they got a BOGO on some shit too. At the end of the day choose your deal, you didn't get ripped off.
    I have a software subscription with the truck but other than that mostly ebay snap on. homies looking out for each other with the ebay prices

  • @PedalTheGlobe
    @PedalTheGlobe Месяц назад

    Why are you worried about another guy making a few bucks after you already agreed on a price. Clearly it was the cheapest set available on ebay at the time for the condition you were looking for. Also, you got the bigger size set out of the two, which costs more new. Its always funny to me that guys are perfectly fine with companies making tons of money on them, but if a regular dude makes a few dollars profit for their time its end of the world. This is why the poor stay poor. They hold each other down. I sell items for market value. Not what some brokie who tries to figure out what I paid for it wants it for.

    I mean for chrome sockets I paid 1,100 for the 3/8 drive 46 pc set included with foam storage for it included with the 1/4 46 pc set aswell so honestly it’s a good deal if you can afford it at the time they’re offered 😅

      @@Hernandez530 shame that we don't work next door, could do some serious trading lol. There's shit I've had for years and it only sees daylight when the drawer gets opened, I burn through 3/4 and 15/16 sockets though.

    You wouldn't have been able to buy that set for any better of a deal whether he got them free or not... hes not selling them for a $100...
    doesn't matter what the other guy made it's what you're willing to pay

    Sounds like buyers remorse. You thought it was a good enough deal to pull the trigger. Ebay buyer protection, return it.

    • @ASEmastermechanic
      @ASEmastermechanic Год назад

      Ebay will NOT protect you if you later find out that the seller got a two for one deal and because you think the seller got a larger profit. I been selling on Ebay for 20 years. If I was selling this item and he attempted to return it, I would (seller) decline. The buyer has to prove the item was "not" exactly as described. He is getting a brand new tool set. Being a pussified buyer does not create a return. Ebay buyer protection would not work.

    Coming from a guy that knows a bit of the ins and outs of a tool dealer, nothing is “free” on the truck. He paid for that other set somehow. It’s marketing dude.
