Im not ashamed to say that im 30+ year old. During 2020 Covid was really tough mentally, and Amelia and Goomba’s streams were the first streams I’ve watched or even heard of actual Vtubers, but even though ive missed most of all the live streams due to the time difference, the clips still brought a smile to my face. We look at the world and dont like what we see so we recreate it here. An Oasis where human potential and ingenuity is limitless. Where theres poetry, wonder and meaning even in loss.

The concept of VTubers is still less than 10 years old, as far as I know. Unlike following sports figures or actors, it's still unclear whether we can grow old alongside VTubers. Therefore, graduation for VTubers feels like the death of a character because, whether it's in anime or VTubers, when the activities of a character stop, they slowly fade away and die in the minds of people. In other words, characters can only survive in people's hearts.
We’re bound to see more VTubers graduate in the future, but Ame has paved a new path instead of graduating. Even Ame herself mentioned that she used the word 'conclusion' only because there were no better words to express it, so this truly feels like "Ameway". I hope that through this "Ameway", characters won’t be forgotten, but instead can continue living as characters by participating in events or creating content a few times a year. I believe that this "Ameway" can offer a new path for other VTubers.
this, I always see the graduation of Vtuber "persona" is kinda like death. Ofc we know that they probably still well irl or have other "persona" that still active. But the character that graduated itself are gone forever. So yea, with this new step from "Ameway", the vtuber who will graduate in future will still here with us and can make appearance sometimes like in idol company. Ofc, it is not just for HoloLive but for other companies and indies as well. Ame is really a pillar of Vtuber, not just for hololive. I also hope the graduated members before Ame can make appearance again.
I really like this idea of remaining as an affiliate, the person leaving has less or zero responsibilities toward and expectations from Hololive but the character can live on.
That said I don't think Ame would drop off of anyone's memory anytime soon even if she just typically graduated. Holomyth got me interested in VTubers in the first place and thus has a permanent place in my brain, and I think myth alone was a big catalyst toward vtubing becoming popular in the west. Keep in mind too that people still talk every now and then about other graduated vtubers like Coco and Sana. Hololive is a cultural force to be reckoned with in this sphere of the internet.

as someone who usually doesn't follow vtubers in general besides most of my irl friends, it sounds like the concept of vtubers hits even harder considering the huge legacy they have being of the immense cultural impact they've caused and created

I remember being shocked when members of Ame and Myth first debuted as HoloEN. At that time, Hololive was about to become big, and I think there was a lot of pressure to take that first step in English-speaking countries.
However, they are all wonderfully unique, and many memes (such as Bee) have also been created that are very familiar to us in Japan.
I'll never forget the excitement I felt when everyone saw it in 3D for the first time. Although we can no longer see everyone together on the stream, I believe that the five members of Myth will always be together behind the scenes.
