    Kevin,
Thanks for the video. I just started LoTW about a week ago. Getting back into the hobby and there are many digital modes now. Been watching as many tutorials as I can search on RUclips. What a fantastic resource. 73 WB3BJU

Hi Donald, I have also found youtube to be invaluable as a learning tool. I aim to do helpful tutorials when I can't find one on a subject. Look through the rest of my vids. Maybe I'll have something else helpful for you.
      Thanks for watching.

Hi Kevin - interesting video. Thanks for the time and energy you put into them! I'm a long, long time Linux enthusiast - and wonder if you've ever given CQRlog a try. Its amazing software and has all the features (and then some!) that any ham could ever ask for. In fact, its the very best logging software I've ever used - regardless of whether the logger was for Windoze, Mac or Linux. And of course, its free. Full support for fldigi, eQSL, LoTW, etc. Thanks and keep up the good work! 73

I have tried it in the past. I opted for xlog for it's simplicity at the time. I'll give it another look.

I appreciate the video, was hoping you would show how to export and import to LOTW and eQSL.

Thanks for plenty of information on Linux and Ham Radio. I was just wondering if you have any tips on installing N1MM logger under Linux/Ubuntu. I've tried WINE + N1MM logger -> no luck. And I have also tried BOTTLES + N1MM -> no luck. Would be nice if you could upload a video if you know how to do it.

I've never tried that particular program. However, I have run across windows programs that just will not work under WINE. I have virtualBox installed and I have a Windows 7 virtual machine that I use for stubborn windows programs that I absolutely need access to.

There isa box that can be ticked for it to auto update EQSL. It is where you input the LOTW password for you to update.

Actually it is on a separate tab labeled eqsl right next to the lotw tab. I thought I pointed that out in the video. They may have been on the same tab in an older version of fldigi.

There are differences between Fldigi on Windows and Linux platforms. I found that out when I switched to Linux some time ago that apart from the file allocations, there were differences between the platforms. Now with Raspian on the Pi formats, there may be subtle others.
An aside note, if you look on some of my videos you will see VOA Radiogram on FLdigi being broadcast. It uses MFSK and can transmit images depending on the signal received. As it is a viable operating mode, maybe a video on that and such.

It should be the same on raspian since that's just debian compiled for the ARM cpu. Debian is also the platform that Ubuntu is built on, so things are mostly in sync between them.
I think you might have been looking at different versions when you went from windows to linux. The source code is the same between the windows, mac, and linux versions of fldigi. I'll have to boot up winders 10 and install the current version to compare.
I've also copied VOA radiogram broadcasts in fldigi. It's got so many modes. I've copied WX satellite images and marine WX fax broadcasts and navtex bulletins.

I've confirmed that the current windows version has identical configuration windows and tabs to the linux version.

I must been using a older version of FLdigi when I migrated to Linux at that time. At least it is same throughout.

Often the use of HamQTH instead of QRZ.com for population of the contact field works better, more info gets populated. But sometimes it does not find anything. Also sometimes you have to restart fldigi because the hamqth.com session has expired. There should have been a button/drop down menu to change it without going into the settings window all the time.

Good points. I think FLDigi would work best if you had a purchased local copy of the data. But then you'd need to keep updating it often.
A few people have filed bug reports on the lookup not working well. I hope the author fixes it, it would save a bit of time for the guys that play digital most of the time.

    Kevin,
I don't know if you are familiar with ITTY - Internet TTY. Do a search for it if not. I use fldigi to decode a stream from 209.180.212.65:8000/listen.pls which I enter in VLC. This is 60 WPM RTTY. He normally has a lot of AP stories that he feeds.
Just thought you might be interested if you hadn't ran into it.

No, I hadn't seen this. That's novel. Not the most efficient way to send text over IP though. Ha!
