    I don't know Steve, and I have never met the man, but thanks to Smith & Smith and The Red Green Show, I feel like he's an uncle that I just never got to meet. I have a few Red Greens in my family. I have also discovered that since I've gotten older, I've morphed into a Red Green myself.

    Hard to believe when Steve Smith started this show,he was 46 years old.
    He was 61 when it ended 300 episodes later.
    He is now 75 years old, time flies when your having fun.

    Even in the 2nd episode one can see the talent and even though rough, the characters are well done. Possibly the finest television Canada ever produced. One thing I liked especially was the Canadian sense of humor. Able to make fun of Canada and the U.S. equally and be riotously funny without insult or even in spite of insult....it was done so well.....so well.

    Amazing how several of their funniest quoted lines began in season 1, lasting the entire series. Great writers w/ vision. I'm sure they hoped for 15+ seasons, but so few shows get past 5. Look at what a loyal fan base they have. Our lives are better being reminded of life nuggets w/ sarcastic humor.

    Ive watched this show since 1994 with my grandfather and while eating lunch at home. I vividly remember watching Sesame Street, my mom coming down with some pea soup and crackers for me. The best part of the day, Red Green is on!
    I was planning on getting my grandfather some tickets to your last show, unfortunately he got sick and needed to get a few surgeries. Even after a heart surgery he was right back to work (handyman). His last week or two at the hospital was the first time my entire life i seen him not doing anything. Its been two years in June, the thing im the most mad about is that I wasn’t able to attend your last event with him as his last as well.
    So glad to have had your show in my life and turned me into the lazy duct taping handyman i am today. Thank you for giving my grandfather and i lots of bonding time watching this show and working with him until I graduated highschool.

    Even those toy COX planes and land stuff, gave the kick start to kids who are now accomplished engineers, business owners and such. I had some of those, (Plane, 3 wheel chopper, and a jeep), when it was about the time we put a man on the moon, and life was like,---"Go for your dreams son!!!".

    • @UberLummox
      @UberLummox 5 лет назад +2

      And now most kids don't know how to use a hammer. Hell, most adults don't.
      We grew up w/COX, or slot cars (ya hadda maintain those), building models, learning to fix your bike which would lead to fixing your own car. As cars have become less owner serviceable, I see less and less model kits in toy departments. I strongly believe theire's a direct correlation.

    I have actually used the drill trick with wiring many times. Only I clamp the ends of the wire in the vise first. Then I chuck the other end into my cordless drill and pull my wire out straight and hold a bit of tension on it. Slowly run the drill and let it twist up. You get a nice uniform "cable" that covers up nicely with loom or wire wrap and also threads into frames and between places super easily. Worked at a place installing drive by wire systems for handicapped people and this was taught to me by the shop owner. So, not as crazy an idea as it seems.

    Boy! You can sure tell a "getting the bugs out" of a show by watching the first episodes of the first season!
    I've watch a few episodes off-and-on since 2009 and this is the first time I saw *any* of the first few episodes- I've seen 2002 season episodes (idk the first year.)

    Hey, since when are flame throwers illegal!?!?!?!?!
    I love the way performers just show up on the show to do recurring characters. It's not like they got a lot of money. I guess they came for the joy.

    you can tell by the reaction at the start of the show when it was a laugh track versus live audience. things definitely started good and only have got better.
