    After suffering hail damage recently, I've been watching PDR vids. Couple things I noted:
    1. You should squeeze and release the handle of the DIY puller tool several times, pumping it before doing the final squeeze that pulls the plug off the glue. This works the metal before yanking it hard.
    2. Alcohol is best used for removing the glue. Paint thinner sounds very dangerous and unnecessarily harsh.

      Our RACQ guy thumped the panel at a certain place with his fist, away from the ding (a big one). It popped out immediately and you couldn't see where it was. Some cutting paste had the paint fixed and my son didn't have to pay the quoted $1400 panel beater repair.

    I bought a kit like thins one and I love it. Within just a few hours worth of work I pulled and beat out pretty much every ding my car had in it. The kit I bought came with chisel like "dollies" and I found that most of the dings would come out easily just by beating on the edges with the dollies. I actually surprised myself at how good I was able to get the dents out. I did learn one thing: don't try to use the glue on a black car in the sunshine on a 90 degree day. LOL! The glue never cooled down enough and would pull right off. I paid $99 for the kit on Amazon and literally saved hundreds if I took it to a body shop with just a few hours worth of work. If people knew how easy it was body shops would probably start losing money.

      @@bltsandwich567 I said “virtually”! Twenty years ago, when car makers were transitioning from acrylic paints to 2 pack, one of the tests to see what you were working with on a vehicle was to put a rag soaked in thinners on the paintwork. If it was acrylic, the paint would instantly go soft and sticky, if it’s 2k, it won’t even touch it. Suggesting someone wiping down a panel with thinners is somehow going to damage the clear coat is just wrong. It will remove and wax or polish but it won’t harm the clear!

I'm no expert and just followed a few of these tutorials ( of which there a many ) and I removed a nasty rear door dent caused by a careless door opener in a car park, took three or four pulls, bit of light tapping down a couple of high spots and it was out ! ..... great little tool for novices and smallish dents.

But now my area is scuffed up and you can see the trace of the round tab pattern in the paint, basically removed or dented the clear coat. I'm working in a garage thats about 15C-20C so the paint isn't hot or anything and I don't use anything to warm it up. I'm using the yellow glue, never the black. What am I doing wrong? My theory is that the car was repainted (I can tell) and the clear coat they used was crap (soft..scratches easy).

      You need to heat up the dent area with a heat gun. This will make it easier to pull the dent out because the metal molecules have expanded. Its almost like heating a plastic container when it's cold it's hard to bent but when it's hot or warm it will easily warp or fold with your hands.as for the scuffing you could try a bit of polish after you are done

    • @goldenultra

      We use all types of glues for certain situations. We have glues formulated to work in all different temperatures. The regular Walmart glue will work fine for some people.

    how much does it cost to have the pro come in?

    • @raleighdentcompany
      @raleighdentcompany 4 года назад

      Our starting price is $125.00 for a mobile repair. We'll repair up to 5 small dime sized to nickel sized dings for that provided there isn't a lot of R+I involved.
      $150 to $175 for Quarter to Half dollar sized.
      Anything over 5 inches is 125.00 to 150.00 for the first inch and 50.00 each additional inch after that.
      Some places charge more, but that's about a base where we start.

    Only one pity issue is that the glue may destroy the factory paint of the vehicle, which may cause another need of repairing the paint.

  • @benfoley8638
    @benfoley8638 2 года назад

    Top tip.. that kind of glue can be removed very very easily with some normal lighter fluid, juts a dribble around the edge of the glue and it will creep between the surface and the glue and just fall off within 30 seconds.

    Ok , we as professionals normally don't use the glue pulling method on non factory , old , damaged or chipped paint because of a good chance of pulling paint of it.
