I did a computer science degree 20 years ago, worked as a web developer for a couple of years, but then ended up working in a totally different industry. Since the AI revolution kicked off, I've been learning to code again and have done a load of Python courses. Coding is so much easier now thanks to improved text editors and libraries for doing pretty much anything. I'm doing courses in FastAPI, Machine Learning, and LangChain at the moment and really enjoying it. It will take me another 6 months or so before I would feel confident to apply for jobs I think. This video is great. Very encouraging. Everybody should learn to code, I think it's good for the brain. I love the way you are constantly learning and how impossibly confusing things eventually start to make sense.
With all the things you do, all the effort you put in your videos and all the time you put in each single animated video to help us. All i could say is thank you and congrats for your 400k subs!
Getting hired and experience is probably the hardest part. I initially got some projects on Upwork, but didn't get anything for last 3months. Now, Learning a bit on low level, got very few interviews coming up. Also will try out the open source contribution route, it actually worked for some of my peers. Thanks for sharing the resources for interview prep and CS fundamentals.✨

Nice video. I've seen several roadmaps like this, but all of them lack or left for the end a genuine "Zero" section. I'd recommend first learning how to use a PC. It might sound trivial, but it's invaluable to know how to properly use and configure your OS (Windows, Linux, or whatever you choose), both in the UI and the CLI. I'd even suggest familiarizing yourself with the components of a PC and understanding how they interact. While you can learn these things along the way, knowing them beforehand will greatly benefit you when you start learning to program.
Hey, I'm Yuusuf and 20 years old. I’m interested in becoming a self-taught web developer, and I would like to meet serious people who want to connect so we could make a study group and make a plan together. If you are interested, let me know.
25 years ago companies were hiring people if they show interest in learning how to program and would teach them on the job. These days, you have to hit the ground running and then some! You have to prove that you know what you say you know with 3+ professional references in the field! If you’re starting out new, you have to put all your heart, mite, and soul into it. You cannot be lukewarm in the least to get that first job as a developer!

huge props to lewis for this in-depth guide on breaking into software engineering without a formal degree bro's doing the most to help others but here's the tea, while self-learning is a powerful tool, a structured formal education can offer a foundation and networking opportunities that self-taught routes might lack not saying one is better than the other, just that there are unique advantages to both that being said, the amount of value packed into this video is wild. keep grinding!
I would do your laundry and dishes for a year to get a comprehensive version of this video in course form doing a deep dive on each of these 11 topics. I mean, maybe not your laundry, but my fiancé taught me how to cook amazing authentic Mexican food. Like tamales?
Well if you done that that means you now have a 9 - 5 work and need to keep your webpage intact manage your community and then learn new things all the time equals almost no free time. For a job where you only make around 45 - 60 thousand € (if you live in the EU). Better aim for making your own company then the amount of work you have putting in is justified
I know it’s mentioned in the video but I highly recommend to begin coding with python. Personally I started on C then Java script and then python. In hindsight I wish I had begun with python as it’s slightly easier to get a grasp on the main concepts used in every language. It’s much more beginner friendly but also used later in the game and more popular now as well.
I hate when someone says start with js and Python i would say start with java, assembly or c , then switch to the above as the java will force you to tell exactly what you want the computer to do and they don't hide the Woking in syntactical sugar coated syntax
