I'm really impressed about these modern Porsches, never figured it out they could be so capable to be serious stuff in Rally races, they are REALLY fast and seem to be very stable too
@@1984-i1w I know, I still remember a book of my uncle full of those Rothmans Rallye cars pictures, it's like they don't have the look of a "typical rallye car" but closest to a GTcar but their results are amazing
Porsche has a few major advantages, rear engine puts more weight over the drive axle, flat engine is extremely stable and low in the chassis increasing stability, and stiff sporty suspension keeps the whole vehicle glued to the ground
Porsche is the only brand I can think of that's been competitive in nearly every motorsports category with the same car! 😂 Rallye GT Endurance Dakar racing! Etc
Modern cars.. they don’t have the looks, they don’t have the mechanical feel, they don’t have the sound, they don’t have the smell, they don’t have the danger, they don’t have the history. they are boring.
its RWD in wetweather just let go of the gas so car centers itself and the weight of the car centers by itself but you need to be quick with it rally drivers are a diffrent breed
The beauty of rally racing is it's the only motorsport that I know of where women have both competed and succeeded in. Not many motorsport disciplines where women compete, let alone succeed in. As a dude that firmly believes diversity creates further interest which creates further drivers which creates further competitions and a prosperous future for the sport, I love that about Rally.
@@renneej1238 Well if you just let go of throttle you might see yourself snap the other way into the wall 😂. I think you should keep on throttle a little so it can eventually center itself when you get into the higher revs.
@@magical5181 yeah i re read my comment and it needed to be ''just let go of the gas a little'' XD not completly no then you snap yes XD play with the throttle a little you kinda feel when you have traction again
Get some awesome.driving skills in any car and you'll habe a rally car. It's not the car that makes it good it's the damn driver thats what rallying is all about,,,,,,driver skills not how.goodnthe car is. It helps sure but the sport primarily tests the drivers ability to control the car at really high speeds. So again get some.skills amd get into any car and boom!!!! A Subaru is nothing without the skill of a professional driver, a.porsche is nothing without a skillful driver a Ford focus, audi, BMW etc etc all are nothing until the driver with skills gets in. Buy a Subaru and you'll pretty much have a rally car lmfao no thas not true little more to it than that. European rally is way better than American after all rally was born in Europe
You know, rally is kind of an enigma in our modern world. At it's basis, rally can be summarized as "go as fast as you possibly can from point A to point B, on potentially dangerous, winding, tight roads, and on unpredictable surfaces in unpredictable conditions." Without it's storied history and countless contributions to every automobile currently being manufactured on the planet, and if rally never managed to come to exist, can you imagine trying to pitch the concept to any modern racing safety organization? Rally is the cigarettes and whiskey of the racing world, it's a habit grandfathered in by everyone still too enamored with the glory days, when everyone truly and absolutely believed the trope of "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger." Somehow rally continues to exist in a world filled with uptight suits and hand-holders, and it truly is glorious.
I used to watch rally videos and seeing them wreck I always felt indifferent. But after I got into my first wreck last week it’s so much more terrifying lol. Every wreck sinks my heart.
When I was little, say about 30+ years ago, I was lucky to have a european rally championship race going through my village in Greece. Not only that, but also a service park! We used to watch the special stages that were practically at walking distance, man the sounds the smells and the peppering with gravel! 😃 Needless to say we were bitten hard and at a tender age! I am now contemplating my last new pure gasoline car purchase, while they still make them. No traction batteries. Before we know it we will be driven around in battery boxes making electric forklift sounds. With a GPS of course, you go over the speed limit and you get the ticket on your phone... I wish they would bring back the homologation specials, that's how we got some legendary production cars. The way things are going, just a dream, I know.
its a mysterium for me how they make every car, doesnt matter the age, sound sooo good. meanwhile i have no idea what to change on my car to change something at the sound. besides the obvious, new exhaust
I swear I'm going to find me a place far from towns and places and just make my own rally track.. I would share it and invite everyone even if you're not racing to come out and have a blast.. just need someone with a bobcat to help me with the trails lol
Respect to all these drivers with balls bigger than the sun. I personally view WRC championships equivalent to 2 or 3 F1 championships due to the big balls required for rally
Yeah F1 doesn't have any of the spit and grit breakfast for champions anymore, it's way too controlled, drivers can't have a sandwich outside their specified regimen without getting cancelled. In most of the videos about modern F1 drivers driving 80's and 90's F1 cars they're getting a culture shock, grinding gears, can't match the downshifts, and just simply can't even relate to the cars anymore.
@@ToreDL87 I agree that WRC appears to take more balls and skill obviously, but don't gatekeep and discredit F1 as they withstand incredible G-Forces which we would only pass out from for a start.

Including E30's and E36's.
Makes me proud to be an e36 owner to see these things getting called classics now :D
the way that fwd car was tearing after that subaru was something else
