I always get associations to trains, rails, airports, docks and harbors when I'm listening to dub techno. I don't really know why, but I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one. Especially trains and rails. I got them even before I knew how much of this kind of music actually exists. I listened to Trentemøller and Lulu Rouge and had never heard anything else like it before. But especially when listening to Lulu Rouge I got those associations, which is also the closest to dub techno of the two. I guess there's something in the sound especially the chord stabs and the delays that gives me the associations. But it's funny that it's stuff like trains, airports and harbors. You know, trips, about getting away to another destination and arrive at that place.
Maybe because the train is like sound on a track, and poles and stuff on the sides are notes that come regularly, and the landscapes are soundwaves... always funny to hear a sound that fit your journey, like when you go out of a tunnel and the bass starts at this point :)
Methedrine Lovegod - I agree. Just techno in general gives me the sense of motion very much as the only genre opposed to others. Tech house do also have it. Probably tech trance as well, I don't know. But motion is one of the several things that techno is best at imo :)
Dub techno changed so much. I noticed this video now when I remember I encountered it years ago before pandemic But to hear all this sounds I feel like I lost a lot of my life and I am sad I didn’t knew this music or your work earlier. Thank you is the only word that will describe that you made a time capsule in the internet
6:33. I love the sounds in which are quiet, and in repetition, especially that of a mechanical or industrial noise. that along with the trance is beautiful
Really something else this. Beautiful. l was part of the rave come acid techno scene from 89 onwards. Still listen to techno now. But this dub techno really blows my mind. Love it.. Mega thanks to the dude who chose the tracks and mixed this.
This is a brilliant podcast and only made me love the internet's hyperconnectivity more. Thank you for taking the time to share such wonderful tuneage with us
Right? I never did feel like the "techno" part conveys well enough as far as how it seems like such a different style than techno. The augmented chords and subtleness are everything. And I understand the "dub" part but dub techno is so seperate from simply techno with a dub effect. Also "dub" registers like "dubstep" to people who aren't already familiar with this genre.. which I'm always compelled to explain that it is Not to be confused with dubstep lol
Sorry I can't stop listening to this mix .This remind me in the old time how progress house usted be with allot of fx... but this love dub techno is the best.
The wonderful sound, emitted by amazing synths, is but eventually sequestered by the same technology, which does not really care about any genre or age. Dub techno being just one example. Vast spaces still remain uncharted inside this dark matter, dark space.
Thanks a lot for the link and congrats for this super set. It's very cool also to view the tracklist in realtime and the nice visual. Big up mate keep up the great work!
+MrLeePickett I keep finding myself unconcious half way through a mix. Then I snap back to reality and I'm like "woah shit there was music on". You know it's good when the music takes you out of it.
Yeah, you're right! I wrote this comment when I listened this Set on a Study trip to berlin! We drove through the city with a bus to make a sightseeing. And while the tourguide talked about the different places I already knew, I just listened to your mix. It was a rainy day, too and I realized, that this music, dub techno, always creates a picture of a city on a rainy day in my mind.

Totally agree with that comment. Or looking out the window on a flight.
That sound you can hear from the rails and cables just before the train arrives. Totally dubby! Haha.
This music makes one feel motion so it makes sense that one tends to associate trains and rails with the overall vibe that this soundtrack provides.
