Good to see you back out. Whilst you where in lockdown I had a little whoops on my 790 Duke at the Drag Strip... Yeah embarrassing vid evidence is on my channel. lol
Nice to see you out and about again my old codger. However, I was a little perplexed by the sudden appearance of what looks like a pierrot marching purposely towards Wolfgang. Was it Gary? :-)
New SMCR owner here such great bikes love mine.. great to see you out and about.. :) bike looks great. Need to do the slave got the Oberon on my desk to do.. not looking forward to it lol
Really like your vids. Been thinking of getting either the 690 or 390. Really like the 690 but I have been told they suck on the hwy and if I want to do multi state trips (USA) DONT GET A 690. Would you agree with that? I like a lot about the 390 but do about 60% of my riding off road, rocky terrain and I'm concerned even with spoke rim that bike will struggle. Love any feedback......and again thanks for the vids.
Thank you! I’ve ridden both for short distances on highway. The 690 E R is like a naked bike but more upright. I thought it was okay. The 390 I rode in torrential rain and the screen helped. But you can add a screen, see my playlist. The seat might be uncomfortable, I changed mine. Tyres are 50/50 but tubed as stock, if people have put 80% offroad tyres on it might explain their reticence. I have no such qualms with either bike. I’d adjust it to suit my needs after a test ride of course. Personally, once (if it ever happens in UK) Covid restrictions are lifted I’ll be riding my 690 on the highway, it cruises at 80 mph easily, but try one first 👍
@@CodgerBiker thanks so much for your reply. Do both bikes seem stable at hwy speed? A couple reviews have said the 690 seems unsafe over 60 mph. I agree the best way to know is ride them for yourself but not so easy to do currently. Thanks again.
The 690 Enduro R as stock is higher, lighter and narrower so I think some people might feel it is susceptible to side winds. But I find it okay. I have lowered mine 1” and fitted a fairing. The 390 Adv was fine also, but felt small. Neither is going to be a perfect tourer. It depends much more on the rider, their expectations and tyres I think 👍
I enjoy your vids, man. And you're confirming my suspicion that the 690's my next beast. Love your fields, too. However, not too sure about you bike bashing. Have huge sympathy with these folks, doing no-one anything but a favour.
@@CodgerBiker And don't get me wrong. It's so easy to be irritated by anything, these days. I live in Norway, ride a GS (I know), and actually love it. But I long for the nimbler things in life. And the 690 seems to be one that fits the bill. Also interested in the t7 . Attracted to the bulletproof Japanese thing, but suspect it's gonna bore me. Any thoughts?
I'd love a T7 myself. Got to be bulletproof I suspect. The 690 Enduro (in my opinion) is more short range, very light weight, fun. Depends on rider needs I think. Just now, with all these restrictions (and my bad hip) the 690 is enough. 👍 Nothing wrong with a GS either.
@@JoelPriestley I’m in the same boat. T7 or 690. Still can’t decide. I would be selling my 2017 Speed Triple S for. T7 : reliable, do anything bike with no tech. But heavy. ABS doesn’t come back on if you stall out. But I’m worried like you are about being bored after a while. Great after market: 690 : way better power to weight ratio. Can do everything the T7 can do really and more so off road. Great after market. Possible fuel pump issues? No idea as far as that goes. Probably way more fun. But fun is subjective. But it has tech I could give a shit about honestly. I don’t take trips (no time) so that doesn’t matter. I ride a huge radius around my house. I have a test ride scheduled for both next week so I’m basing my decision off of the ride itself.
The rider is everything. You might find a single too agricultural after a triple. I'd have the T7 if younger and stronger than I am now, or if I was just on-road. Those bikes are too heavy for me to be picking up now on a trail. But the 690 is great fun and light, the clutch slave cylinder would need changing. I went Oberon, 1st essential mod 👍 ruclips.net/video/4k2GZpUz-wI/видео.html
Not directly. I think they are similar in some ways. The 790 better for longer range. The 690 better for local and more offroad I guess. But I'll maybe do something soon 👍
Cheers👍 That would be like answering which of your children do you prefer.? 😂 In current climate Wolfgang serves me best. Longer distances it’d be Ludwig. Both are great fun.
Hello, my new friend.
Wow, that's a beautiful 🌺🌷❤💖 motorcycle ride.

You must be riding a unicorn or something to make so much emoji emission

Hello Chris, good to hear from you. Good to be back. It’s been a long dark winter, but now: sunlight! 🤞👍 ☀️

50 km yesterday in sunshine and 14 C.
Nice 😊
👍Great to hear. Let’s hope that the future is freedom! 👍
Do you prefer Wolfgang to Ludwig? Great little vid btw.

So wanted that cyclist at the end to have to take his foot out of his cleats and put his foot down 😅
He was just too good. I tried to encourage him with a few braaaps!
@@CodgerBiker The lycra brigade don't need encouragement of any sort! 😅
I don't mind them really. Just like to poke them with a stick, they seem devoid of humour. I think it's the Adrenalin! 🤣
