Thanks so much for watching this series! Would you like to see a Top K-pop Songs of 2020 reaction? 🤔 And what were your favourite songs of 2021? Let me know!!
One thing about Shinee is they always shine. I’ll be really surprised if Onew’s Circle isn’t at the top of all the best of 2023 list. Stan Shinee for excellence!
the different scenes in the lilac mv kind of represent difficulties, stations as well as people IU faced in her life/career so far. Love the imagery hehe. Thanks for reacting
Fun Fact: The sign board behind IU shows the release date and title of albums, EPs and singles she made while in her twenties. She turned 30 this last May and this was her last song while in her twenties. ☺ EDIT: Well that's what I get for pausing to write a comment before actually watching the video.😮💨
love seeing your thoughts on these!! i'm currently getting into shinee after their latest comeback and let me say...... you will love "hate that" by key & taeyeon, it's probably my #1 most played song since i heard it for the first time
About Bad Love vs Advice: I don’t think Bad Love is not commercially popular. I think it shows the difference in SM support. I think you’ll find the same sort of difference in views with Taemin’s Criminal. Criminal and Bad Love were both passion projects from Taemin and Key, where they took the reins and had a lot of involvement from selecting the song to developing the MV. And it seems whenever songs are the members’ passion projects, SM will not provide as much support in the promotion of these songs. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to me (silly me, I’d have thought a company would want to make money and so they’d actually encourage and promote all their artists’ projects), but you really can clearly tell the difference in promotion and support between songs chosen by SM to be the title track and songs chosen by the members. (Note: Criminal does have 43 million views now, but it should be noted that SM did very little promotion of it when it was released and it got to the point of fans actually taking out YT ads themselves to promote the song.) Long story short, you can’t judge a song’s popularity or commercial success on YT views alone.
the way SM kept pushing collabs on Key for all of his "solo" title tracks until he basically took a whole moodboard and 3 hour powerpoint presentation to them on the Bad Love concept....
I’m not surprised 0x1 was #1. Freeze charted for sooooo long and was so highly rated on every music chart/critic site. It’s still the highest rated kpop album on metacritic ever! 0 x 1 isn’t my favorite TXT song (it’s Loser = Lover) but that’s just a personal preference thing and I can agree that the song is a masterpiece. Personally I don’t think the song is too gen z. I can relate to it a lot as a millennial. One thing I love about TXT songs is that they leave them open enough that you are able to connect to each song in your own way and to your personal life. Ranking music is really hard for me, especially when it comes from my favorite groups so if I ignore my favorite groups that were active at the time because I love all their music (TXT, ATEEZ, Purple Kiss, Onewe) then I would say I loved Luna, Shut Up Crazy Hot, Black Mirror and No Diggity by Oneus( they had a ton of great music in 2021) Rock with you by Seventeen, Helium by Key, Advice by Taemin, In the Morning by Itzy( that whole album was amazing), and Outsider by Btob I know that was a lot but I could of kept going…. 2021 had so many great songs and albums!
Didn’t know that about Freeze!! Glad it’s gotten the recognition it deserves 😄 And that’s fair re: 0X1. Maybe it’s more the angsty vibe I don’t relate to as much, I’m not sure! I’ll have to check out those other Oneus / Key songs!
so my top 10 from the list are 1. TXT 0X1=Lovesong 2. IU Lilac 3. BTS Butter 4. Seventeen Rock With You 5. Taemin Advice 6. Weeekly After School 7. Aespa Next Level 8. Oneus Luna 9. CIX Cinema 10. Twice Scientist 11. StayC ASAP 12. Key Bad Love also i streamed the living crap out of butter so it obvi is my nr. one on most listened KPOP songs in 2021 i discovered ateez wi fireworks in 2021 and also iu with lilac
You see miss, this is where you're wrong about Bad Love not being loved by the fandom, it is arguably THE MOST loved one, it kicks start Key's artistic excellence as a soloist, one where there's entirely him and less of the company's involvement in it's execution, it made the trend of having unique album covers as concept more prominent (take a look at the albums you'll not regret it)...It shows Key's musical proficiency and stand-out as a monster performer. The album itself is by far Key's magnum opus in his solo career, 'Gasoline' album coming a close second. Key is the rare triple-threat idol holding all the positions in a group, Vocalist, Dancer and Rapper, you ought to check out his Gasoline mv and album from 2022. Views don't mean squat coming from a 2nd gen Kpop, that's the least reliable metric to gauge popularity. All this views comparison has only began during 3rd gen and has been heavily inflated by inorganic ones, just fans streaming like a bot 24/7, something that 2nd gen fans don't do and truthfully have no time to do. Key is already one of the top streamed mvs among his 2nd gen peers active as a soloists WITHOUT extra exposure and 2nd top streamed among shinee members. You'll be surprised to know that Key is also the most popular in Korea from multiple fixed appearances from top shows and top earner among his members. Taemin has not only started his solo career earlier, he is also the only member among shinee with the extra push to the west (courtesy of superm), similar to 3rd-4th gen onwards he is privileged enough to benefit from the 3rd-4th gen streaming culture and more exposure. If you look at his debut mv it doesn't even come near to the views he gets now, it's all a product of time and promotion...a totally different playing field. You are comparing two different artists with verryyyy different situation. I'd advise you to ignore that aspect entirely if you're looking to give genuine reaction and opinion, tbh hearing you mentioned it had already dampen my excitement to watch your video. Still thanks for the reaction!
I love these kind of videos, it's so fascinating to see which songs resonate with people. I actually vividly remember when Advice dropped because I immediately said "oh this is definitely gonna be the song of the year, no question asked" (I think it dropped in early March, so yeah....) and I was RIGHT. It very, very quickly became my all time favourite k-pop song and still is to this day! I actually got a tattoo of it two months ago because this song has such a chokehold on me and i don't even know why. Oh and Anti-Romantic is BY FAR my favourite TXT song, I think it ranked in my top 3 of 2021, so I definitely understand your choice ♥can't wait to see more videos like this from you ☺ - a fellow 31 year old k-pop fan cursed (blessed?) with eternal baby face
Dang an Advice tattoo!!! That's commitment!!!! and glad you love Anti-Romantic as much as I do! Thanks for watching, fellow 31-year-old baby-faced K-pop fan 😄

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Advice surprised me on 1st listen. His rapping is amazing. I am so glad he is continuing to explore it in the new comeback. I am Taemin bias only 7-8 months. =0p He is such a great dancer and artist. Dance practices are a must watch with him. =0] Butter is a bop. Love it more than Dynamite. Such good vibes. Lilac IU i have heard of this song. I think i heard it. But never saw the MV. Her fit in the club wow. She so cute. Catchy song. Love her vocals. Really nice song. I found IU through BTS and i am so glad i did. She is wonderful. Next level by aespa not catchy at all. so not my vibe. The red haired gal looked pretty. Shrugs. Key Bad Love is catchy. Love the melody and vocals. I was surprised he likes the 80s sound so much. Many of his songs are like this. To me the female dancers is a Taemin thing. The other members agree with Taemin on this and use both dance crews the same. Taemin believes there should be no separation because both dance groups are dancers in the end. And many younger idols have taken up this mantra and use both sexes as backup. Love that. TXT Lovesong is my fav song by them. UwU After 1st listen i was hearing it daily. It's so good. Catchy. great vocals. Good MV. Just a great vibe. =0] Hugs. -NY USA 2019 Army💜
lovesong at 8?? blasphemy!! haha I’m joking ofc, I do love this song beyond words but I have to admit that 2021 gave us so many masterpieces. I am seriously surprised a lot of songs didn’t make it here, especially drunk-dazed or fever by enhypen. you wouldn’t be able to tell by these critic rankings but those songs had a serious impact on kpop in 2021. I’m more sad to miss out on the enhypen reaction than lovesong at #8 tbh 😅 still, I love your reactions as always and I hope one day in the near future we will get those enhypen reactions 😂
No DC in your top 5? I'm kinda disappointed, thumbs down, hate comment, unsub, etc. Jk 😋 DC did release in 2021: - the Odd Eye album (Dystopia: Road To Utopia) - the BEcause album (Summer Holiday) - the Eclipse album - Shadow (OST for Dark Hole) I can't be that disappointed though since there's no girl group or female artist in general in your top 5.
Haha oh nooo! Yeah apparently 2021 was the year of boy groups for me!! 😝I've already made my 2020 top 10 and 3/5 are girl group songs, one of them being from DC 😉 Also I mentioned this in part 1, but I've only heard 3 songs from DC in 2021! That's the only year of their discography I haven't gotten to yet. And Odd Eye was my #7 for 2021. BEcause isn't my favourite DC title track, but I do love Poison Love. It'd be in my top 20 for sure. But that makes all three songs I've heard 😅
@@laurenclaire No worries. I watched your 2020 one and saw that DC was up there. That's kinda where my expectations were coming from. And all the songs that are now in your top are great too. There's a lot of good music out there.

bad love is literally one of my all time fav kpop songs EVER I had no idea it only had 13m views 😧
Criminally under-viewed!!!

I’m so happy that Key shot up the list. Same girl- same, lol. He’s amazing. So glad you’re checking out some of the Shinee guys songs! ❤️

Funny you compared Key's song to Taeyon's INVU, the two are good friends and have a great duet together, called 'Hate that'.

SHINee have always had female.dancers...is that not a thing for other groups??
Weird you do not seem to know much of IU!
No DC in your top 5? I'm kinda disappointed, thumbs down, hate comment, unsub, etc. Jk 😋
DC did release in 2021:
