You were the only drummer that didn't seem to struggle with the archspire material tbh. That could've been such a great era for Archspire with your sheer virtuosity and creativity. But no matter what, I'm always going to check whatever release you play drums on!
Kevin is no Spencer Prewett,!who is one of a kind amongst extreme metal drummers and will be sorely missed by drummers like myself. He certainly struggled to pull off any of Spencer Prewett’s works as comfortably or cleanly as the pro session drummer Wildy Souza and John Longstreth managed to. Like Kevin, both also chose A.U.M. as one of their covers (i.e.) the fastest drum track on BLEED THE FUTURE and both were superior to Kevin’s rendition. Edit : Like yourself, why can’t some fans of certain musicians maintain objectivity?

Imo kevins approach to AUM was clearly the most dynamic and skillfull one. longstreth simplified especially lots of cymbal usage and souza seems to struggle quiet hard. And tbh, prencer is a beast but on convert recordings you could clearly hear thats its almost impossible to perform the archspire stuff really tight live, so I guess whoever wins such an audition will be better than prewett (which is natural). not saying anyone is bad, all four belong to the absolute best death metal drummers, but when ranking them I come to quite different conclusions. I guess they will also consider different reasons apart the audition videos.

I know that Spencer never recorded with good mics or anything, but the videos of him playing sound sloppy AF, in my opinion. Which is to be expected when playing this style. Kevin is the only one that I feel made it look easy and was definitely the cleanest... even cleaner than Spencer himself.

No one is irreplaceable. Cant really remember anyone so comfortable playing this fast blazing style aside from Longstreth or Barker. I enjoy Kevin's work, but FF is even a longer stretch than Archspire.

On the topic of Focal Dystonia, is there any chance you could possibly post a video about it, what your symptoms are/were and what you've done to work through it? I've been dealing with focal dystonia in my left hand since 2018 and it is still very much a work in progress. I play traditional grip now, as every time I think I'm making progress with matched grip I end up feeling like I start to go backwards again.
This goes to show you may be technically the best person for a job but still you need to fit into the culture. For instance I got my programming job even when I'm technically deficient but my work culture was compatible and I'm still here years after. Kevin is one of the most technically proficient drummers in the world so he will surely find a band to join very soon. Wish you the best and don't fret about archspire.

The band members from Archspire are great guys from some personal interactions with them. They can have their reasons for not wanting him. Whatever vibe you picked up is a slice and speaks to the ease at which people's opinions are manipulated by their own tiny perspective. You give off a bad smell with your uneducated opinion. The next time you eat some bad Chipotle, you can tell yourself your gut feeling saved you from a fatal chance circumstance. Later on, you can start doing tarot and collect some shungite while your crazy gf molests some crystals and predicts the next president of Uruguay. Maybe a group of friends likes goofing around, or maybe you're Dick Tracy, and sniffed their chakras to the point of nirvanic congestion. As a rational person, I'd pick the former as the latter is too close to an excuse to throw gang signs at goat entrails until the magic 8-ball gives you the answer your out of touch subconscious forgot to relay to your frontal lobe.

Damn man. Benighted was my all time favorite band. I dont think it will ever sound the same without you. You made that band amazing soo im sure whatever you do next will be amazing.

Sad to see that Archspire made the mistake of not hiring you. From the ones I saw, yours was pretty much the cleanest one. John "God of doubles" Longstreth was also very good, IMHO. Still can't wrap my head around the fact that Benighted parted ways because of an assumption. I'm sure you will find something else soon and maybe it will make you feel fulfilled. Them Archspire guys gave off a bad smell. Stuck up in a "were funny and don't care because were so amazing" that was the vibe I got, I was only ready to listen to them when you joined lol!
The band members from Archspire are great guys from some personal interactions with them. They can have their reasons for not wanting him. Whatever vibe you picked up is a slice and speaks to the ease at which people's opinions are manipulated by their own tiny perspective.

The next time you eat some bad Chipotle, you can tell yourself your gut feeling saved you from a fatal chance circumstance. Later on, you can start doing tarot and collect some shungite while your crazy gf molests some crystals and predicts the next president of Uruguay.
Maybe a group of friends likes goofing around, or maybe you're Dick Tracy, and sniffed their chakras to the point of nirvanic congestion.
As a rational person, I'd pick the former as the latter is too close to an excuse to throw gang signs at goat entrails until the magic 8-ball gives you the answer your out of touch subconscious forgot to relay to your frontal lobe.

Is David still in Obscura? I know Seeber has played with them on like the last couple of tours they did. If that seat is up for grabs, i cant think of a better band for you. Not the most physically demanding work, but mentally its challenging.
Pretty sure Obscura has announced a new lineup without Diepold.
David is out. They got James Sewart from Decapitated. (The entire Lineup changes every album, exept Steffen of course😂)
