    Jewelry repair is a constant for me. I don't like to abandon (scrap) a piece that I can fix, but I am no expert.

    Jewelry a passion and I'm so thankful for the amount of detail and knowledge you put in all of your videos, I feel like I've learned so much from you. I hope this channel continues to grow, maybe you can include some of the processes you use to make or repair jewelry. I would also love it if you included tool recommendations or tips for making jewelry.

    Andrew, yes continue to introduce and teach us about different gemstones. While I do this on my own blog, you are the jeweler and expert. You could also teach us how to best take care of jewelry. How to clean it. How to store it. How to not harm it. Perhaps tips on getting the best price and value, such as any "retailers to the jewelers" if there are a few, as well as, where or what "C" to compromise on to buy a larger stone (a big effect). I think you're doing splendid with me. :)

    I’ve watched a couple vids of yours so far and love them! I honestly really like the direction you’ve already been going. I love seeing a video about a topic I wouldn’t even know to ask a question about. I like niche knowledge and most people know very little about jewelry, so I think it would be best to focus on info only a jeweler would know. As for other topics, maybe think about starting a second channel! If you like talking about something enough maybe make a pilot video here and then consider making a separate channel. I really love seeing this unique content here, nobody else is doing it so keep up the good work!

    Hi. I learned a lot from your educational pieces about individual gemstones and would love to see future content featuring trivia about the histories and other little-known facts surrounding famous gemstone specimens we occasionally hear about in the media.

    Great vids and wicked informative. I’m from New England myself if you didn’t notice already haha. I’m a novice jeweler and only have made a handful of pieces. I watch these videos to see another important side of jewelry other than the creation side of it.
    I would really love to hear you talk about different styles of rings, pendants, etc. and possibly how jewelry has changed through time; just an idea. Maybe what is popular or what was popular. Also maybe a video on what makes jewelry so great whatever that may be to some people. I feel like that would stimulate more areas to cover.
    Thank you for creating these videos. They have been a huge help!

    For me gemology is my interest, geology is an interest. I also enjoy archeology and jewelry of the bygone times. I love learning about trends like art deco and how these eras evolve.

    I have a fascination with gemstones, especially colored gemstones. Here are my suggestions for new content: iolite, tanzanite, lapis, fancy colored diamonds, lab created gemstones, emerald vs. tsavorite vs. chrome tourmaline, Columbian vs. African emerald, pearls (Tahitian, South Sea, Sea of Cortez), vintage jewelry styles (Art Nouveau, Art Deco, etc.), investing in precious gemstones (what to look for), uncommon jewelry metals (Argentium silver, surgical stainless steel, titanium, etc.).

    I enjoy watching your videos and have learned much from you. I would like to see more about how to identify a well made piece of jewelry, and how to avoid mass produced jewelry, focusing on quality pieces instead. I’ve also recently had a sunstone set in a custom made setting..it’s fabulous and set in 14 K rose gold. Worth every penny to have a one of a kind piece of jewelry!

      Great suggestion! I did recently post a video along these lines about how rings vary in quality and some things to look for.

    Great videos! I personally would be interested in a step by step guide on cleaning, enhancements, oils etc. a gemstone, perhaps the methods used for different gemstones? Both simply at home and professionally (with sophisticated equipmets)?

    I'm learning so much about each gemstones from your videos. I'm interested in buying gemstone jewelry. However, I find price range just way too expensive. I would like more information on future prediction. For example, Do you think price of Lab grown diamonds will continue going down or up?

    • @YourAverageJeweler
      @YourAverageJeweler  3 года назад

      I don't believe lab grown prices are going up, but I also don't see them going down significantly in the coming years. Hope that helps.

    Hi Andrew, I have enjoyed your videos and have learned a lot! Over time I have accumulated a pile of jewelry misfits like many single earrings, my grandmothers tiny white gold wedding band, stuff I can’t wear.....platinum, 18 k gold, tiny emeralds no jeweler wants to reset etc. What are your thoughts on how to best recycle or upcycle precious metals and stones? Can different metals be mixed to make something new? Is that even cost effective? Thanks in advance!

    • @YourAverageJeweler
      @YourAverageJeweler  3 года назад

      The reality is it is not necessarily cost effective to make something new. It can be a nice way to keep sentimental pieces, but it is much more labor to create a nice piece that way. If you sell in “scrap” the materials are generally recycled, but not in the direct way you are implying. Sadly, it sounds like these pieces have used their life and it is difficult to get more out of them once they are worn out that far. Best of luck.

    Thank you for your insights on different gemstones. My birthday is in April (Diamond) but I love other gemstones and have collected quite a few gemstone jewelry pieces over the years. I would love to have an alexandrite but it’s not in my budget currently! Since gold has become so expensive I see a lot of jewels now set in silver. What is the best coating metal on silver to prevent it from tarnishing? And with 925 silver settings do they have to be coated?

    • @YourAverageJeweler
      @YourAverageJeweler  3 года назад +1

      925 is sterling and it will tarnish when left on its own. Rhodium is the most common coating, but it's more about the quality of the plating than the material itself. Hope it helps

    Hi!
    I've started to be interested in the jewlery and gemstone topic recently after trying to find a nice ring for my partner (and realising i might be the one liking it more than she) and with that new interest discovered your channel. (BTW really like your way of presenting information, you're very consise and clear)
    A subject I would really like you to cover is how to effectively/safely/confidently shop for loose/facetted gemstone on the internet.
    I'm currently considering buying loose gemstone and going to a local jewler/artist to set it but I am warry of beaing scammed.
    Thank you for your work trying to demestify your profession, hoping you'll cover my subject.
    (BTW I would definitely do a separate channel if you plan to talk about a very different subject like finances)(which I would probably subscribe to too)
