Mountains of perfectly preserved, water colored fish; frozen in time from head to tail. The smell was a whole other thing. It lingered on our clothing for days, and even my son-in-law’s mother remarked she couldn’t stand that smell anymore. My stepmother is from the Dominican Republic and I can still remember the smell of her cooking bacalao. It lingered in the house for days. 🤢 #teamScott on this one…

You bought Pancit Canton from Walmart? Or was it that Chinese/Thai crap (no offense Asiana Family)? Pancit Canton is Filipino and they are different and tastier/spicer. Japanese has the yakisobi noodle, which are sold in some Walmart's, but are always sold in Ingles for like 10/$10. It's good too and close to pancit. Chow and Lo Mein don't soak up water or seasoning. One is beefy and feeling though. Try the pancit on bread with rice and egg. Filipino only have two brands. One is Lucky Me. It's the greatest. She's eating Lucky Me Chili Shrimp.

This is why there are "wet kitchens" in SE Asia. I saw this really neat design i'm going to replicate where the kitchen was glassed in with sliding glass doors so the cooking smells stayed out of everyone's closets.
I like alot of philopino food but some is so not right my philopino friend thinks hotdogs in the fridge since last summer is still good or food heated up over and over again as each person came home to eat and left it in slow cooker off during the night and plugged back in next day to serve and then the next day I got in trouble because I didn't want to eat lol and chicken feet oh my and fish head nope but buccan pie or rolls with a filling like adobo or chicken with sticky rice yum yum.
The best investment is to get yourself a good air purifier. I just got myself three and it is beautiful eliminates the odor gets the smoke and gets the air cleaned up real fast so good I got three air purifiers and it’s the best investment I made.
Cook them in the garage.. or try baking it in the oven or better yet an air fyer with a little bit of olive oil.. i also don’t wanna stink up the house specially in the winter time 😊..
