I bought this book in the Amsterdam Airport in the 90s, only to find out the book was set 20 minutes away from where I lived back in Iowa. Crazy coincidence, amazing book.
He talks about magic, and I witness it here in this interview. It's the same kind of magic he makes us hope for in the pages of his book, but it also tells me the artist has to carry it to express it in artistic form. This gave me hope.
I think he wrapped up the core of the book when he said, 'I believe that the Universe transpires and creates Magic in lives' I'd say, if you allow it. He's truly a Creative Artist and his experience of the writing is truly a creative moment, as he said - Zen Like ! He allowed it to happen 😍
Robert James Waller was an American author best known for The Bridges of Madison County, an enormously successful book in 1993. He was also a photographer and musician. Wikipedia Born: August 1, 1939, Rockford, IA Died: March 10, 2017, Fredericksburg, TX
Beautiful book...incredible writing...I've read it several times and my heart opens more each time to this delicate fragile thing called LOVE. Incredible. He wrote with such a deep sensuality we have been blessed by his presence. Thank you for your gift

At the end of his life , Richard (her husband) said "Franny. I know you have your dreams , I am sorry I didn't give to you" (Something like that). Some said he already knew her 4 days story. But I don't believe he did. He just to say sorry about what she has dream of yet never received. Remember she said he is a farmer and very clean husband . So without any clue of this at all , if she kept it as a secrecy . I feel pity but lucky too for this clean husband.
Blooper right of the bat. "Directed by Steven Spielberg? You mean I have been adoring Clint Eastwood as director this whole time? Well. .. so that's fine...this gentleman, Waller. Yep, a true artist! I AM OK NOW
Robert didnt even want it published, he just had a story to tell & was way too busy to worry about getting jt published. I felt the interviewer could have been more gentle in the questions, it sounds like he is grilling Robert for his life but Robert amswers with genuine ease. Love the film, just bought the book off ebay.
An amazing film that I lost count as to how many times I've watched. Francesca's body language and these little sounds she makes while looking at Robert (from a distance) or thinking of him as if she's in a state of extreme sexual excitement but at the same time like holding back, trying to control herself, I find extremely erotic. Then you got Meryl Streep herself looking like a Goddest, with that beautiful face and that body of hers hidden under those dresses that makes me think no other actress could've played this character better than her. Beautiful film that I highly recommend.

That scene in the truck when Francesca has her hand on the car door contemplating whether to get out of the car or not.....OMG makes me cry!
Fabulous story, amazing acting from Clint and Meryl. Very, very touching.

The first line of "The bridges of Madison County" is magical. I love this book and have read it numerous times. It's so beautiful!
Deep soul. We can see it in his eyes. After the movie, I'm going to read the book now.

I'm long past wishing for that kind of Magic. If couldn't handle it . Too intense.
Great story. Might try and read the book. I am impressed.
Wow so he's definitely Robert Kincaid!
This story "has connected with the entire world". Saw the movie yesterday, god, I was crying! Just beautiful.
Still my favorite romantic movie of all time. Still heartbreaking. Such a beautiful movie.

Ive watched the movie about 30 times and I always cry. I hsd a love like this and all those memories come flooding back.
Best story of all time. Best film of all time.
holy crap, Waller looks exactly as I pictured Kincaid...
Why "crap"? It's ugly here.
I was just thinking the same thing!
Same here
The book is probably a bit autobiographical -- listening to what he said in the interview.
The resemblance is uncanny
I was very touched at watching movie, since never seen before it.Long, long time, ,I will remember it for my life.

It’s a story of betrayal, some lady cheating on her husband is not a beautiful thing. Waller got what he deserved, a slow painful death 😂

Have not read the book , but, EXCELLENT MOVIE!!!
Give yourself a treat and read the book and its sequels, A Thousand Country Roads and High Plains Tango.
If you haven't already, read his book 'Slow Waltz in Cedar Bend.' Love story that takes place in an Iowa college town back in 1980.

I just saw the Movie Last Night.. it was excellent... For some odd reason I don't believe that this story is totally fiction..
He’s beautiful ☺️

Any artist knows what he means by the inspiration and how the book was " given" to him.

I think this is pre movie shooting. I watched documentary and it's all Clint Eastwood. No one mentioned Spielberg

People said the movie was much better than the novel. Even mentioned in another movie "Serendipity".
No, definitely not. The book came first so the movie was a comparison to it only, it was an adaptation of the book.
Depends on your reading skill…?
