    You have the most contagious laugh in the world. When you took out the walkman with the tetris game, I couldn't stop myself, and just when I was able to, the music started alone on the bluetooth speaker. Finally, as I was starting to have a hard time catching my breath, the digitizer. Or rather, your description of the cassette digitizer. SUBSCRIBED!

    Great walkman cassette recorder, in fact is like a portable deck, the recording quality is very good, I never seen something like that here.
    I love many of the songs you show here, I don´t know if RUclips policies changes from country to country or what, but only on one occassion they ban one of my videos, a Bernie Flint song dubbed from vinyl but was by EMI.
    As always, nice to see your videos.

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon 8 лет назад

      Thats exact;y what it is, a portable deck and you know, I find myself recording using this way more than I do with my JVC KD-A5 it's kinda crazy. This thing has quality written all over it (except for the left headphone channel that doesn't work but I smell a blown headphone amp transistor)
      with regards to youtube, I think they will flag your video if you apparently have more than 30 seconds of copyrighted content, then you wount be able to monetize your videos and however depending on the record company and their policy, either the audio will be silenced or the company will monetize your video and take the money earned for it.
      I now just use my own music to save this copyright hassle, it's too strict in my opinion.

    You havent mentioned the 6v dc port. With it you are able to operate it without batteries. This walkman is pretty big compared to "newer" ones thats why I think some wouldnt walk around with this huge cassette player but it gives a alternative opportunity to a cassette deck and when youre travelling and sit in train and there are sockets you can operate it with an appropriate dc adaptor.

    Today I had something in my mail where I was very surprised that it already had arrived: My Sony WM-D6C :o
    Opened it while being very excited ;) I hoped it was not broken due to any issues while shipping and sure enough it was not damaged at all. I couldn't even find a single remarkable scratch or mark on it! It almost looks like brand new. Wow I was surprised how big that thing really is :o
    After just looking on it I first had to figure out for myself how to open the freaking battery compartment ;) Then I inserted some batteries to test it and it worked right away with all buttons, sliders, dials, plug sockets, and so on. I am so glad I got this thing for that cheap in this condition, I think that will never happen again. This is something I am really going to cherish because I like this thing so much and because it is pretty expensive for normal of course :o
    My serial number is about 119.000

DVD is only 740 but image is nice and sounds. I also found last year a 2002 JVC SR-VS30 Super VHC and mini DV player recorder on both sides. These were over $2,000 + when new back then. I bought it for $9.99 Goodwill thrift store and cleaned the heads and compartment as i took it apart for serious detail cleaning and visual inspection and all electronics in awesome condition no bulge in circuits anywhere just dusty. Plays and records mini DV very good. VHS side is also awesome i notice better picture quality then playing tapes on standard VHS machines.

    A few days ago I finally purchased something I wanted to have for myself for a pretty long time now: A nearly unused Sony WM-D6C :o
    I am excited to get it, but as it is coming from USA it will take a few weeks for it to arrive here :) Btw have you ever heard about the WM-D6 (without a "C")? That model seems to be even more rare than the D6C, what makes it even more expensive. These D6 models sell for about 700€ here in Germany, but they are technically not as good as the D6C due to the lack of Dolby C NR :o
    If you want to know: I paid about 35€ for my D6C now. It was listed on ebay (USA) as "Old cassette walkman" so the seller did not know that he would have gotten a lot more for it when listing it as a "WM-D6C" because people are searching for that and not for things like "Old cassette walkman" :) Very lucky find I think, I hope it arrives in a good and working order as advertised on ebay :)

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon 7 лет назад

      Niice! Let's hope this arrives well! 35€ is very lucky indeed, i would cherish that when it arrives ;o)
      I'm very happy with mine, I got it at a decent price also.
      I dont think i'd ever get the D6, sure it's rare but the lack of Dolby C would annoy me, knowing that there is a Dolby C version out :o)
      i'm happy that the D6 is the rare one and not the D6C ;o))

    • @amimasteronline4675
      @amimasteronline4675 7 лет назад

      By the way I have read in some (german) forums what could cause your internal headphone amp problem. There are two parts (one IC and one transistor) in the WM-D6C that can break easily in milliseconds when a power supply with the wrong polarity or too much voltage is connected to the D6C's PSU connector. The parts are the Sony IC "CX20084" and a transistor where the name is variable in different revisions of the D6C. Maybe you want to try replacing them? The CX20084 for example you can order for about 2€ on ebay, so its pretty cheap. Maybe I could help you with that :)

    Nice review :D
    I was actually wondering what was the point of having such an old-school walkman nowadays (with Smartphones and other MP3 devices)? Is it for the vintage value of the object itself or is there another reason such as the quality of the sound or something like that :D ? Or maybe something else entirely?

      Actually it's all of what you mentioned and more.There is the nostalgia factor which plays a big part for me, i'm not anti-digital as I do play FLAC and MP3 but analogue has got a unique quality to it, there is a certain unique warmth where as digital tends to have a crisp clear quality.
      Also it's the tactile and tangible aspect of it, I enjoy using vinyl records for that reason. More than anything it's about how it makes you feel rather than the practicality :o)

      Thank you for a quick reply, I've been playing around with it and I recorded your video on the tape and it was clear, I also used my PC, maybe the sound card is better on it BUT when I record the music again, and the music that I record is hip-hop, the bass gets distorted, I think that it might be an issue with the type of music. I will try to record some old school music and let you know. :3

    Hi Maddie,
    You may already know by now more about the You Tube copyright laws, but I'll add a little more information that I learned while watching Buzz1151 on You Tube. He gives credit to the artist and their song in his opening description. That seems to satisfy You Tube. Also, the fact that he makes no money by running adds seems to please You Tube as well. Recently he got dinged by You Tube for playing copyrighted music for longer than 30 seconds, but he isn't affected because he runs no commercials. Apparently they have a real problem with people using copyrighted music while also generating revenue for themselves by running commercials at the start of their videos. Having said all that, if you keep it under 30 seconds, you should be OK.
    Regards, Tom

      Hi Tom, Thank you for telling me this, yes i'm aware that you cannot monetize a video with copyrighted content, I've heard about this 30 second rule but I wasn't sure if it was true or not, even though I noticed that I was getting away with 30 seconds of music.
      i've already had an email about that from youtube. they said something to the effect of "Don't worry, you're not in trouble but we have found copyrighted content on your monetized video, the owner of the content has allowed you to use the content however there may be ads appearing on your video"
      Which basically means whatever money that video makes goes to the owners of that content. It's only one video and that was around 31 seconds of the music haha they're pedantic with the rules. Lately i'm just using the music which I write myself, it's less complicated.
      regards

      What a rats nest of rules! There's too many variables. Sometimes you're OK and other times you're not. Still, I enjoy your videos and all the effort that goes into them.

    That unit is one of the "Holy Grail" of Walkmans (is that right? WalkMans? or WalkMen?) Anyway.. nice score. Even if it's not working, it's still a nice museum piece.

    Can anyone tell me whether I can use any walkman with "MIC" to record music from another source onto cassette? Is "MIC" alway also "LINE-IN"?

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon 7 лет назад

      No, 'Mic in' is different to 'Line in', 'Mic in' is more sensitive since it has a preamp , its designed for microphone use and will distort any signal meant to be connected to 'Line in'

    Just for hearing you laughing like that, those USB cassette players have justified their existence ^_^
    I'm new to your channel and like the subjects and your humor :)
    I was lucky too to get a D6 (the earlier version, without Dolby C). Lucky because it was sold as "non working" just because the pause button was stuck in pause mode and I could unstuck it (but I won't use the pause button, which is ok for me).
    The only issue I still have is that I don't know what kind of microphone I should use with it (the DS70P I use with my MD recorders is no good with the D6, but a crappy pair of earphones have some (faint and harsh) signal). Maybe should I try a battery powered mic.

      Hahah I just relived that moment watching that part again. Welcome and thank you for the kind comments :o)
      Yes I think the best to use with this and your minidiscs are battery powered condenser or electret mics, i've used earphones before and yes it's not so great, sorta act or sound like like unamplified dynamic mics ... What I used to do with my minidisc is just build stereo electret mics, (non powered) and they were amazing, i'm not sure if it would work with the sony walkman but worth a try :o)

    It WAS a good recorder/player. But it didn´t last long. Broke down - repaired it twice for a lot of money.
    It´s not for professional use- still got it somewhere in the garage.
    Sony is kind of dangerous for the average consumer- all my Hi-Fi devices broke down. Also casette player/recorder Sony KS 770 ES doesn´t work anymore, Sony cd-player and Sony amp also history......
