Just found your channel after this popped up in my feed. Subscribed. Great review. I've got a Studio 3 I bought new years ago and still love it - I've tried several other speakers over the years but never end up wanting to trade this one out. Take care man.
@@DjMartiniMidwest yes, the 4 preserves the classic design and build quality for last as much as you want. As a vinyl collector I can confirm for me and some colleagues, this is the best wireless Bluetooth speaker for sound quality and fidelity. With AC it's a excellent home speaker obviously, but that is another category which has more options. Your video make me remember how much I love my Onyx Studio 4 hahaha Full support from Uruguay 🇺🇾
Have the oynx1 since 2015, in fact am listening to it right now. Battery has completely died, have to run it fully off the wall. But still produces great sound and bass
I bought one too back in 2014 and just discovered the battery was dead. Saw this guy's video on changing the battery out and did it today. Bought it on Amazon and genuinely took 5-10 mins to sort, £18 for the battery was a bargain!
I have 2 Studio 8’s paired in stereo mode; they are heavenly to listen to. However, I am deeply frustrated that every time I re-connect to them they NEVER start in stereo mode!! I’m always obligated to repeat the process of syncing them up into stereo mode to listen to both of them at the same time. Their app is completely useless; it doesn’t recognize them at all. Am I doing something wrong? Is it possible to always have them start on stereo mode without being obligated to pair them each time??!
Thanks for watching and your question. Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with that process I’ve never had two units to pair. So hopefully some else might chime In to assist ..anyone? I’ll look around too…. I’ll get back to you..if I find anything. Thanks.
As long as I don’t disconnect my device(s) and don’t power the Studio 8’s off they remain paired in stereo mode. The moment I disconnect any of my devices or power the Studio 8’s off then back on, I have to re-initiate the stereo sync process by holding down the Bluetooth button for 5 seconds on each speaker until they sync up with one another. Sometimes that process has to be done twice or 3 times for them to actually complete the stereo sync with one another; other times it works right away (usually if I don’t power them off). It’s just so odd to me that they don’t have a memory feature to start them up the same way you disconnect from them; in stereo mode. If I disconnect from only one it would make sense that I re-connect that way as well, but seeing as I always desire to use them in stereo mode it is extremely tedious to be obligated to re-syncing them. Hopefully a firmware update can fix this; but then how do you even do a firmware update on them?! Frustrated. Will have to email or call them directly to get some clarification. Very little info is available online. They truly sound incredible. I’m melting in the sound; especially acoustic music. Just WoW. 🫶🏻
@@DjMartiniMidwest UPDATE: Contacted their support #, and after being transferred to 5 different people; the last person was the correct person with the knowledge on Studio 8’s.. He explained to me that the only way they can work in stereo mode is to go through the tedious process of holding down the Bluetooth button on each speaker for 5 seconds so they sync up together & NO OTHER WAY EVER. 🤯 He claims they are designed to work that way, there is no app available of any kind to connect to them, no firmware updates ever, etc. You are stuck with what you get out of the box. I rate their sound a solid 9.5/10 when they are playing in stereo mode harmony. But to be obligated to go through this tedious process of pairing stereo mode on them over & over again each time Bluetooth disconnects; has me feeling like the 5 days left in the 30 day return window is approaching far too quickly. My heart is truly torn. 💔 My desire is to keep the incredible sound quality they produce but NOT the tedious stereo pairing process. What a shame.
I have the studio 1, works great just battery wont hold charge. was thinking about selling it and upgrading to a newer version, but after watching your video imma just change the battery. Cool video
@@Dele_Ps_Advice you need to remove the cloth front plate to get access to a few torx screws and remove the cover. inside there is a little compartment hold by 3 more screws, take those out and inside is the battery to be replaced. Some batteries in amazon send the screwdriver in the kit.
I own the 4 and the 5. The 4 is perfect for my room as it has the perfect clarity and enough bass to not irritate my wife as we live in a condo. The 5 is better for outdoors because of its portability (the purse handle) and heavier bass. The one feature I value the most is the Power On. I use the Onyx as a speaker for my PC and which is 10 feet from my desk. The Onyx 4 (plugged in) has an "Always On" feature which is great as I don't have to go the Onyx and turn it on whenever I want to use my PC, phone or Tablet. The Onyx 5, on the other hand, the Power turns off after an hour or two even with the device plugged in. This is very inconvenient for me as I always have to go across the room to turn on the Onyx 5. I won't hesitate to buy the Onyx 8 if it has an Always on Power feature. Otherwise, I'll stick with the 4 for my bedroom.
I have the 5 and it's without a doubt the best speaker I have ever owned... saying that, I have not heard a 4 or below so am unaware of what I am potentially missing.

I’ve had 3 of the HK speakers and all of the snap crackle and pop! The bass makes the speaker blown. Once the speaker is blown you can’t turn up the volume or the bass will make it cut off😢
Hello , thanks for watching and your question. Unfortunately I’ve never owned a Go+play unit . So I only have opinions but the go+play got great reviews for sound but was not very functionally with the iPod and I heard the sound quality is not as good using the other inputs . I have heard the onyx 8 before .. it has great sound quality with newer Bluetooth and functionality. It’s also Smaller and more portable then the go unit in my opinion. If the price is right the go might be an option , also look at onyx 7 which is almost identical beside the processor in the unit (cheaper option) . My Finally thoughts I would probably go with the Onxy with its newer technology and slightly smaller build . If the 2007 released play+go was found at a great price and I was just keeping in stationary spot .. I would try it . Thanks 🙏 I hope my thoughts were helpful.
I am Only guessing and my opinions.. but either an electrical short somewhere / crossed wire , a damaged speaker or a battery failure issue ? I have never owned an onyx 8 but my experience with speakers says it might be some things to check . Thanks .
I have an early model (5 speakers at the front) with the halo handle and where the screws are meant to be is just plastic, it’s some kind of weird hybrid model I assume it was a pilot model realeased in APAC , anyone got any info on that model? I need to replace the battery
Just want to point out there's not 6 speakers in the Onyx's 1-4! It may look that way but.. there's only 4 speakers with 2 air suspension diaphragms (These are not speakers) open one up and take a look inside you will see. Found this out when changing the battery in my friends 2014 Onyx. If your Onyx 2 has an 8 year old battery that only has 37 min of play time you best change it out. Most likely blotted and will burst soon. My friends Onyx battery had 1 cell blotted to twice the size as normal (3 cell battery) had to pry it out.

Really wish someone knew all clear differences for each version.
