  • In this video, the authors of The Battle for Consciousness Theory discuss the major contributions that Swami Vivekananda and Sri Aurobindo made to the global consciousness movement in the 21st century. Highlighting how the two stalwart gurus introduced to the West the uniquely dharmic philosophy of evolution, the authors Rajiv Malhotra and Manogna Sastry discuss how the institutions which were founded to propagate the works of these two luminaries failed to defend their gurus' works from being appropriated and distorted. They highlight how the book Battle for Consciousness Theory defends Sri Aurobindo's seminal models in individual and collective consciousness from Ken Wilber's co-opting and discuss the larger issues of digestion currently dominating Indology.

Much needed discussion on this subject and matter. But a country of 140 crore people are busy somewhere else and majority of people are unaware of these facts and challenges.Such discussions should also be in regional languages like hindi, bangla, gujrati, marathi, tamil, telugu, kannad, malayalam etc.,. bcoz so called educated people don't care about such things and people residing in tier 2,3,4 cities and villages will be there to support, defend bharatiya culture, traditions, sanatan dharma and our civilizational heritage 👀🤔🙏

Sri Aurobindo's legacy is first & foremost a path of practice & soteriology. Thus no intellectual appropriation can come close to hijacking it. Ken wilber will be forgotten in a few decades but Sri Aurobindo's works will remain great simply because they contain his Shakti.

there's also an occult but precise process of initiation into Sri Aurobindo's yoga to ensure the continuity of the tradition as well as to protect it from outsiders, which is the real reason why his followers don't feel the need to defend his works
Sri Aurobindo himself cautioned against turning his path into a mass movement. It's not for everyone

Since Rajib sir saying new research should come, I can say as a Bengali we know the book " Bartaman Bharat"(present india)❤ written by Swami Vivekananda himself in bengali language is excellent book on India's culture & its future. But, very few outside Bengal know about this book. I have also seen intentionally this book has not been translated into english language, so that wider audience know about this book. I request all the great mind to research about this book❤

First thx to the organization who arranged this book summary and honoring the writers. Great work.
On a side note, instead calling the young lady scholar a madam, we should use our own Indian language word “sister” or other honorable word would be more appropriate. 🙏

Very elucidating talk. I will buy the book. But I also need to share it with society at large.
The last part should be turned into a video short with some attractive headlines n images. So the knowledge will reach the distracted ones also.

This is simple. In terms of "darshanas" both Advaitha (Shiva) and Dvaitha (Shakthi) are parts of the whole Sankhya.

In fact, Swami Medhananda of the (Ramakrishna) Vedanta Society of Southern California has done some excellent work recently in making people aware of how strongly the 'Vijnana' drishti of Sri Ramakrishna and , the writings of and occult inspiration provided by Swami Vivekananda have formed the basis for the remarkable philosophy evolved by Sri Aurobindo, a philosophy that is palpable in his wonderful commentaries on the Bhagavad Gita and the Ishopanishad.

I am not sure that many in India are aware of the Legacy of Sri Aurobindo. Aurobindo Ashram is considered in Many parts in the south as some exotic retreat that houses some Europeans also. The authors have done a gret work in not only bringing to focus the works Sri Aurobindo but also how is work has been appropriated and distorted. Irony is that but for these faults by the westerners and the authors highlighting then, many of us would not have been awre of the subject at all!

Soon it will happen with the fifth original Jagadguru of India, Jagadguruttam Sri Kripaluji Maharaj 's compositions as well . Also, with his literatures , especially 'Philosophy of Divine Love' ( Prem Ras Siddhant) in which He has proved Darwin's evolution theory (that Man came from Apes) totally wrong. It is a book worth reading for anyone who wants to know about, the factual existence of God, involution and evolution, whether the soul exists or not and many more topics of deep curiosity which Jagadguruttam has covered in this wonderful literature of His🙏

Rajiv Malhotraji is Adi Shankaracharya 2..0. What Shankaracharya 1.0 (S1.0) did for dull Budhism to infuse chaitanya in dharma rashtra, this Shankaracharya 2.0 is doing for the parasites on Dharma after time of S1.0 namely Abrahamic religions and the counter-parasites developed to counter those parasites within that echo system both of which have spread iver the world.
Amazing long term enemy purva paksha and uttar paksha!

Brother, let us not please view this development with the jati of these great vibhutis in our minds. They transcended all jati and linguistic barriers. Sri Aurobindo's philosophy and his writings will, i am sure, be published in simple style in all Indian languages, and, most Indian people (at least of Hindu background) will become familiar with them. The time has come. Sri Aurobindo was such an extraordinary Maharishi, indeed.
