The G37 will be a modern day 240sx in a few years. Everyone gets them cheap now and wrecks them, and eventually there won't be any left. Yeah the theft issue is a problem and so are takeovers. Cutting up is an issue too, the car is just too good at it. But people do more than drive fast, they drive stupid. Which is why so many of them get wrecked. They're very good cars and are good at many things. They make good power even stock, the handling is good and can easily be made better, and the interior, though aged is comfy. It is true many of them are clapped and you can find good ones for under 10k. Poor maintenance can cost you, I've spent thousands at this point basically rescuing my G37. I've been tastefully modding mine, only thing ive added is some carbon fiber exterior bits visually. Been more focused on maintenance than mods. I've done tires, brakes, new calipers, new control arms, new bcm module, new rain guards, fixing random leaks, replaced the oil pan, replaced the crank sensor, had the transmission die on me, ended up being the torque converter, the flywheel, coolant temp sensor, cam position sensor, subframe chassis, the battery, coolant hoses, rewiring some stuff after a water leak, had someone break into my car but they couldn't get it going since I live in an apartment all the way near the back and up so theres no way they were picking my key. Replaced that window and the window motor. I've rescued this car from a clapped out state because was relatively low miles when I got it and I saw potential in it. Got it for 6k and being a mechanic myself, I have done a lot of the work myself. Been saving money. Ofc I have done some tasteful mods. HPS intakes, K&N CAI, High flow cats( previous owner had test pipes and straight pipes that turns it into a trumpet car), custom welded Y pipe that was not cheap. Cost me around 500$, resonators to replace stock ones, and a muffler delete, looking at getting a catback or axleback, not sure yet. Right now the only issue is the hoodlatch doesnt wanna work on one side. Not a big deal since I can work around it but it'll be next on my list.
@@tleoipl37 yeah I agree if you take cats off then muffler delete doesn't sound that great. But, muffler delete is definitely the best sound for your buck.
Back during my ownership, it was a proper community. Minus the theft, all this stems from (as you mentioned) being WAYYYY too attainable. I remember looking for mine in 2015. It was great bang for your buck for $25k. Now a fraction of that for some with the same performance, you got a lot of clowns entering with poor mods. Great video bro.
Hopefully one day my G35xS will be a rare care. At this rate it surely will, with all the idiots wrecking them. Mine sounds good, it has a Top Speed Pro1 y-back exhaust mounted to a DC Sports Y-pipe (This Y-Pipe works with AWD models), & soon to have HFC's. It's a unique sound, & sounds so much better than all of these guys doing muffler deletes, It's already an affordable car. Spend the money on a decent setup!
@@tleoipl37tbh being poor isn't an excuse, if you want to modify your car and you're poor, you save and buy the part and put it on yourself. I also wanna add, I feel like that's another reason it's popular with poor choice drivers is that frankly, you can be stupid and drive this car. The VQ37/VQ35HR as an engine just doesn't break. You can be lazy, you can not do maintenance, and it will just keep running. It'll look like shit and run like shit, but it won't die. I admit, thats why I like G37 sedan. I keep up with my maintenance because I can do all my work myself anyway, but it is nice to know that whether I do it or not, the car is fine. I've seen so many 200, 300k miles even G37s and G35s, and let me tell you, you can tell when a car is neglected. How's it smell? How's the interior? What's the oil look like? I don't even judge by leaks necessarily because all cars have some leaks sometimes that just go undetected, but you can tell by how the fluids look, how are the tires, look at the condition of the brakes and pads, how does the car sound? So many of these cars look like they just fled the scene of an accident when they came in, huge dents, busted headlights, dragging exhausts, cracked or completely rusted through subframes, etc. Just these are things that someone who cares about a vehicle just doesn't do. I change my headlights immediately when they go out. I change my oil often the day of when I get the alert, because these cars have that. I noticed a brake squeal back in September omw home from work, I did it the same day, in the parking lot of autozone no less. I notice an exhaust leak, I go looking for loose exhaust gasket bolts that day. Notice my exhaust isn't on quite right, I go to the junkyard and grab new hangars or exhaust bracket bolts that day, if not, the next day. Just stuff that shows, if they haven't done this, they probably didn't care. Guy I bought my car from, it was a mixed back. His coolant, oil, and undercarriage looked fine, but his tires were bad all around and his brakes were low in the rear, but the fronts were literally brand new. All the interior stuff worked and it was clean and smelled nice, but my friend pointed out the door looked repainted and I should've listened to him. I originally talked him down from 13k to 8k, and my friend talked him down even more to 6k. I've spoken to him since, learned the car has a clean title but was in a minor accident. He wants me to maybe sell it back to him with all the work I've done to it haha, but I told him, I gotta get over 10k for it bare minimum. I've easily put over 10k in it in parts, labor, or my own time spent fixing it.

The main reason is because you can get the car cheap, young get them and they dont respects the cars.
And there v6s that compete with entry level v8s usually I don’t even like the old style Infinti and it’s not and 2014 charger you can get for 4k
One more thing, muffler delete can sound great with resonators. Muffler delete gives the car a deeper tone especially at idle.
Muffler delete on the coupes 🔥 sounds identical and less trumpet then 1k+ exhaust systems if you have cats still
@@swoleki exactly
Muffler deletes aren’t all that especially when you add test pipes or HFCs to em. They sound bad then lol
