    It's really sad when you realize that Attila is the last game in the series that allows for legit mass routs. Anyone who played a WRE campaign knows that the one unit of Scout Equites and that one unit of Sagitarii you get in the garrison are the real MVPs of the entire campaign, you snipe the general and you can rout an entire 20 unit stack with a combination of fire and whistle shot and charging in with a Scout Equites afterwards.

    • @Misclicking_orc
      @Misclicking_orc 9 месяцев назад +51

      Then warhammer turned it from “kill the general to route the army” to “kill the army to rout the general”, which is a little bs given that from what I’ve heard, in the tabletop the gen was pretty damn important for morale, and also not as much of a tank.

    • @LucasEduardo-jm7nd

      @@Misclicking_orc Problem an unintended consequence of having small single entities in the game. You can't really engage them with missile units effectively, unless you use several units at once, and you can't really engage then with infantry as the sse (small single entities) can just use their superior mass to walk through foot soldiers.
      They should honestly do away with those types of units an reintroduce bodyguards in Warhammer. Lore wise many lords have unique units as bodyguards or a giant monster as a mount.

    • @PipMan1101
      @PipMan1101 9 месяцев назад +4

    I love how people have hate on strategies they consider cheap, there are historical battles that use block formations like this, not as tight as legend is using but nontheless its a used and affective formation. and fight on terrain that denies your enemy numbers is basic strategy, if anything its bad that CA does not include more bottlnecks in their battles. and before anyone says "if every battlefield has a bottleneck everyone will just fight in bottlnecks" that would be historically acurate, the only factions that did not want to fight in a bottleneck were factions that outnumbered their enemy

    I actually found more success in a noob circle where some of the units overlap as they go inwards instead of a noob box. That way my units don't get 'flanked' and sides don't really collapse like in noob boxes

    That's some Rome 1 level stuff.
    Rome 1 formations actually worked better though because the individual soldiers would attack the enemy in front of them rather than requiring entering into a dumb 1v1 animation. Could replicate the saw teeth formation and have it actually work.

    Total War Attila on Legendary difficulty just sounds like torture. This was the Total War game I enjoyed the least because even on the standard difficulty, it just felt like the AI had army/eco cheats on all the time and could shit out full stacks to send against my undefended settlements, and you couldn't possibly support a garrison in every settlement. Not to mention Nomadic/Horde factions getting ignored by the other AI when controlled by the AI, but ruthlessly pursued by the AI to the ends of the map when controlled by you.

    I find it funny that people complain about Legend using tactics such as this when, in situations like this, it would be basically impossible to win otherwise. When the AI gets cheats so ridiculously over the top you're forced to cheese to just try and be even.

    First I hope you have a great new year!! Also day 6 of asking LegendofTotalWar to do this challange "Here is a challange that might be nearly impossible: Play fall of the samurai, play as Aizu, you cannot change to the imperialists, you can only use traditional units, has to be at development 1 (default) and not increase it, you have to do a full conquest, has to atleast give time for the enemies to get modern guns, IF you manage to win you can indeed proof that samurais were far from being obsolete, goodluck!"
    You will need it

    The reason the Ai gets buffed in Legendary is because you as the player have access to buffs that the ai does not. 2 very easy ones is traditions/govenor bonus. Govenor can add +6 to recruited units morale, Tradition can add +6 morale against an opposing race. That is a +12 easilly accessable morale. And we hardly even scratched the surface of the buffs you can get which the ai cannot access.
