While I’m sure a lot of people made special trips to go see it today I hope a lot of people we saw on the trains today are going to be using it regularly. It’s nice to see people get excited about transit in LA for once
My wife and I took the train for the first time and it was really nice to not have to drive! We probably wouldn’t feel safe riding solo, but I think if LA keeps it up they might have a legitimate transit system.
About time!! First the K Line thru my old hometown Inglewood, and now finally the Downtown Connector. 2 things I've been waiting for since 1991; better late than never 👏
Last Friday I rode the regional connector for the first time. Never particularly been a huge Metro fan because of how mishandled the agency is by its corrupt governance structure but i’m glad the system exists and they’ve gotten me where I need to go when I need it. I certainly enjoyed being able to avoid the transfer to the subway which adds time and hassle especially since I travel with a bike. The subway A650s also basically just constantly reek of…you know. So this connection was an improvement. I watched this when it came out but now that i’ve experienced the thing I figured i’d come back and leave a comment! The new stations look very nice too even a month after opening, hope they keep them in good shape!
It's great to see Los Angeles investing in public transport improving trips and connections despite of being a car-centric city. But i wonder why a light rail through downtown and not a proper metro system which has more capacity for a great city as L.A.? Greetings from Chile.
Hey Los Angeles resident here! The American government completely despises public transport over all, this sentiment trickles down to the low government such as the LA city council which is extremely corrupt. Getting funding for any public good be it protected bike lines trains or anything is like pulling teeth. Most including myself hate our local government they completely suck. Sorry for the rant.
Good new is, there’s a rapid transit line downstairs at 7th/Metro center station, it’s just not a thru running system just yet… we’ve got the backbones, but our government only likes to invest in transit slowly and carefully compared to how they fund highway projects. The metro system would be pretty cool if it extended past the Wilshire and Hollywood corridors and got the same kind of federal funding that freeways get
Super. A free sleeper train for the fentanyl addicts and jabbering crazies from one end of the county to the other. I appreciate that the Measure M money is actually put to the use it was intended. I appreciate the thoughtful expansion in quality transit infrastructure. However, ridership safety and security is a real problem - and it's getting worse. It's not a problem that Metro caused, but it is still a shit of a problem plopped on their front door. If that's not addressed, it will sink the system.
Wait, how do you leave all the union Station footage which we've seen for years but cut footage of heading to the Korea town station that many haven't seen?
I appreciate the effort but you failed to give any pertinent info. Where to begin? You should have said where you got on the subway first, then when you got to Union Station you did not say which direction you were going when you boarded the train or what train you got on(every train line has a name. They are not all the regional connector). You should have also pointed out what station stops you passed through and maybe add what was there since the train went underground. Sorry to beat you up about this but you really left a lot of info out.
@@gregg5958 In LA, 75% of all metro riders come from low-income households. These are people who historically lack proper access to healthcare. When you don't wear a mask, you put these people at risk, whether it's from c0vid or any other disease. Stop endangering people who rely on transit everyday.

A big day for the homeless!

Great to see this project is open. This is a huge step up for transit in LA.
It isn’t.

Nice video, although I think it would be nice if you'd to add stations-stops' names so we get a sense of locations, but great job
Thank you for the feedback and kind words!
I absolutely agree. We want to be informed!
Thanks for the video!
I went from Azusa to vernon Station, boy the train was jam pack.😅
Wow! Glad to see that people are at least trying out public transportation here in LA!
Thanks for the video. This is helpful when I go to work and gives me an idea of how long it takes. Good job!
Glad it was helpful!
When I just start using metro I didn't know this connector was just opened 2 years ago.
Great video! Love seeing new transit projects, especially in LA. Love the vlog style video
Thank you! I’d thought I would experiment with a different style for once to keep it at least somewhat fresh.
My favorite part was seeing your trolley train cross over the expressway (oops, freeway) and dive down into the new MTA tunnel.
Thank you!
I have video of the E line version of heading to Little Tokyo the very first train
Good video. I'll be on it next week.
i love the enthusiasm of rail nerds
Me too! I couldn’t agree more!
If you want to see rail-nerd enthusiasm at its best, come to Japan! 😆
@@dmark1922 I can tell from an anime that I love TBH.
I hope someone has a video of the new E line on the E. 1st Street bridge.
I’ll see what I can do, no guarantees though.

Thanks for the great footage and quick upload!
No problem!
Nice catch
Thank you very much!
great job with first day footage
Thank you!
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it. I think the tide is slowly changing in America about public transit.
I hope so. We’re too dependent on cars TBH.
@@RailfanParadise I fully agree with you. right now in my area of Florida I can not live without a car or at least it is very hard to.

Wow! I didn’t even know that!! When it did happen?? Did they extended it to Long Beach or Santa Monica?
The Long Beach and Santa Monica branches already exist, as for what’s featured today, this is the only new part of the three (now two) lines.
