i already felt like the dart zone pro was a bit too realistic, this is next level and as you said it doesn't belong on a nerf playing field to me the main appeal of nerf has always been the goofyness of it. Its not supposed to be realistic or super organised/high performance there is already paintball and airsoft for the people who want that kind of thing. Nerf is the only game where you can go from throwing socks at a 20 year old with a thunderbow to getting tagged by a 8 year old with a roto fury in the span of 10 seconds and that is beautiful.
when you said $400+ I'm sorry but I had to hit the exit. I can make two 70+mph FPV drones for that and add an automatic custom jolt on each for that price. LOL Obviously this is only for people who have no life but nerf.
response to Drac's opening question, left hand rifle is an IRL project, mag well is properly shaped for an AR, muzzle is smaller, and the barrel shroud is clearly made to be swapped with the barrel being unsupported. Also worth knowing I've been shooting for ten years so I'm ABSOLUTELY biased in being able to spot a fake. most people are not
I’m sure you’re super proud of yourself, but the point he was trying to make was that if you were a cop or armed civilian making a split second decision… how long would it take you to tell the difference? I’ve been shooting for a whole lot longer than ten years, and owned more guns than I could ever count, including three AR’s. I still had to pause the video just like you did. You don’t get to pause real life. Especially not when you suddenly find yourself in what could be a life or death situation.
@@Brogod19 firstly my point was not " oh cool look at me" I was making a point to Firstly respond to the joke question and secondly to make a point about how unrealistic it would be to force someone without the experience with firearms either myself or (supposedly) you have. Yes I can look at the intro clip and tell based on the cut of the barrel, thats also because im better acquainted with the AR platform than just about any other rifle on the market. Im also versed in how most of the airsoft and paintball variants look (which have distinctive changes to avoid violating copyright). But again, to expect someone to be able to make a snap call like that is unrealistic which is the point of my comment, I mean come on how many people regularly have over ten years experience in firearms, specifically in competition shooting, SSC, CQC, etc where custom rifles are common and then also have similar experience with the higher levels of airsoft and paintball.
The one air powered nerf weapon I would love is modding a normal pvc potato gun with a burst disk to launch nerf rockets. This is obviously completely impractical but it would be cool to have a nerf mortar that actually shoots far.
As a fellow member of the old guard (13+ years) I really appreciate the asside regarding balance and the glass ceiling of the hobby. Until recently there was a similar feeling with flywhees reigning Supreme and the decision coming down to ammo type more than anything, so it's not impossible for the hobby to adapt a place for something like this, but a rushed milsim rifle that can't compete in superstock spaces, or in your case at all, doesn't really belong in a hobby that by design has a low barrier to entry.
@@AjthaGOAT-ek6wz generally towards the community. I was organizing neighborhood games since b4 youtube was a thing and balance has always been a concern. Ironically back then hpa was still the black sheep, though in those days it was the Hornet that was gumming up the scales. What kind of 1st stage reg does that Ninja bottle have? If it's SLP (300 psi output) then it may be no surprise that the blaster does not perform - it requires 800psi input, whether bottle-on or remote-line.
@@martyguy8185 Drac has separately noted that it's a 300psi 1st stage reg - that's the one that sits in the neck of the bottle. You can remove these and replace with a higher output one, but sometimes they are Loctited in place.
The "M16" AR15 platform was created to be comfortable, customizable, and cheap to produce in comparison to others. The more ergonomic and customizable a blaster gets, the closer it will look to that platform. Sure, you can use odd shapes to offset the real firearm appearance, but then you're at a weight disadvantage. Really, it comes to the balance between firearm appearance and user ergo and preference.
@@SpectreN7 Yeah, the full auto is defective on this unit and the connections are junky and ill-fitted. But it's also an early release to reviewers, meaning they have time to pull the line and make improvements to the tolerances of the hardware to prevent what seems like a varying failure. Hopefully they also take into account UK laws and consider releasing a model with the full auto disabled.
@@geraltofrivia323 Yeah, but at that point, you may as well buy a Supercore and print a Neutrino, supporting a hobby grown maker twice over, and paying vastly less, rather than buying this overpriced retrofitted Airsoft replica.
Very likely you are using the wrong pressure regulator when you swapped to the remote line. Check and see what shim stack/reg is on your ninja bottle vs the supplied one. The low ROF and low velocity are a tell of pressure issues.
DRAC PLEASE READ: I believe the charging handle allows you to pull the bolt back if it gets stuck in the forward position (a jam). This can be quite common in the super-cores where darts are stuck between the outer wall of the receiver and the pusher. This usually occurs when the darts haven't quite made it cleanly into the barrel due to sitting at the wrong angle or position in the mag. It is quite disappointing to see a "so sure of the conclusion" review from someone who doesn't have the greatest HPA knowledge (which is fine and of no fault of your own). I think the charging handle feature would have been noticed if reviewed by someone who had spent more time shooting and using the blaster on the field or prior knowledge of HPA blaster issues. EDIT^: This is noticed later in the video but it is clear that it had not been field tested when some of these comments were made. Can you honestly review something without actually having used it? and got to know it? I appreciate it was stated that this is from a North American point of view and appreciate the time that goes into record and editing a video but as such a large RUclipsr I'm not sure I agree with giving the product such a "so sure of the conclusion" review simply because you are not the target audience. As a terrible and extreme example of this but... Imagine me giving a real gun an inaccurate review simply because I cannot use it in the UK. It doesn't mean it's a bad gun but my review would put people off of buying it. Now imagine I was the biggest gun reviewer in the UK... It would have a big impact on the communities perception of it.
We have that type of line connector in scuba diving, it seems like you simply didnt push it in all the way. when you do, the little release ring around the main tube snaps forward flush with the main connection
It’s also too expensive as a system, period. I remember back in the day, we would tease HPA airsoft load outs for literally being “daddy’s money”, because it was. Parents buying their children nice toys is a beautiful thing, but don’t pressure your parents into buying an HPA setup. Consider the stress your parent might be under and realize how big of a purchase something like this really is and whether or not it’s realistic. And if you’re an adult yourself buying this, pay your bills first and then buy something more reasonable. Buying an entire HPA kit won’t really make you happy or be economically viable in the long run anyways. This isn’t meant to be financial advise, I just want everyone to be happy and honestly I don’t think anyone would really be happy with this product. Thank you for the amazing review as always Drac!
This whole "realistic, full metal full power" approach to every combat tag style game killed gel ball in South Australia, quite frankly I'm sick of it and I'm glad someone out there is willing to take it to task. Much respect drac
I dont agree with the hyper realism, but Drac HONESTLY does not know how to use this product correctly, the beauty of HPA is it is a fully dialable system. the problem with this review is he clearly does not understand whats in his hands. The bottle stock would have had this blaster humming as it requires 800psi to cycle properly... But no Drac in his infinate lack to do any real research on the product before attempting to use it, and then subsequently butchers the reviews just like his mods. As for the STEWARDSHIP of the hobby, please give it to some else, like anybody... Drac Bagged the crap out of FTW and other People who have created some brilliant product for our space, so it only seems appropriate that he doesnt know is product in hand, stuff it up on camera, bags it out hard, but when it takes off, "he supported it the whole time!"... He needs to find a Jungle of D***S and eat them just like PeaceMaker would, especially if it would help with a MORE HONEST REVIEW!
@@GladlyKillmore if the point of "blaster tag" is to simulate actual warfare, and not in fact to add a new dimension to the game of tag by adding projectiles and tactics (that are somewhat similar to combat on a surface level I'll grant you) Then being tagged or "killed" if you like should have a much more severe penalty for one. I really shouldn't be able to be sent to the other team to make sure everything is fair for the players. Friendly fire should REALLY have a bigger penalty. And uniforms, training, discipline and the chain of command should really be a lot better enforced just of the top of my head. Or..., maybe, we do it cause it's fun and we're all just big kids playing cowboy with better toys and more people.
i think hpa is a cool thing for nerf however i don’t think the milsig has a place in nerf especially with how seemingly inconsistent it is at a 400+ price point. you’re better off building your own custom hpa nerf blaster or even diving into spectre’s hpa cores
Absolutely do not mind the chat segments here, as they need to be brought up and discussed. Personally I'm a seasoned airsoft and paintballer, as well as trap shooter and even a competitive air rifle/pistol target shooter. I've watched each of those hobbies get to where they get more and more expensive, and in turn more and more exclusive. In my relatively smaller area in Ky, that effectively ended the airsoft and paintball scenes, and while the firearm events are growing, the air rifle/pistol events are also dead due to the entry cost. Nerf's huge appeal is fun that's widely accessible. It really needs to stay that way.
Drac, I have watched your reviews for many years and I always look to see when new blasters come out. Context aside I am impressed with the earnestness that you opened your review with and the love you have for the hobby!
I agree with others, I think this platform takes the creativity out of the hobby. I understand there are those who strictly want to compete, but those of us who have been modding blasters for a decade or more can attest that there's a level of ingenuity and imagination that goes into a great build, as well as a level of pride in fielding a blaster you've dumped dozens (if not hundreds) of hours into in order to make it exactly what you want. The fact that it looks so much like a real firearm is a con in my opinion as well. The last thing we need is a LEO driving by a public war and having the situation escalate into some kid's obituary over an avoidable misunderstanding, because let's face it, this will likely make it into someone's hands who will bring it out in public.
Agreed - you could make the case that knowing how the blaster is put together and how it can be serviced is as important with HPA as any other type of modding. I wonder how people without knowledge of HPA modding will go with this blaster when it requires servicing etc. As with any moving parts, things will come loose over time, o-rings wear out etc.
It reminds me a bit of the AURORA model… on Captain Xavier’s Discord server (which I am no longer a part of for personal reasons) and his channel, he did a range test and review of the above named blaster. It looked almost exactly like a real-world firearm with a blue paint job. On the discord server, we had the debate of ethics (should it be allowed in most fields, etc) and the general consensus was “not yet”. As cool as this is, I became part of the foam hobby because it was enough different from the real-steel world. This has a market, but me and mine won’t have this right away.
well first up, respect for just calling it like it is. dangerous toys can be dangerous for reasons more than "are you wearing your goggles?" personally i'm a longtime paintball guy. was pretty hardcore into it until some nephews arrived and shifted my attention more towards the nerf space. i do have a thought and a question though: back when i was still paintballing, fields were starting to ban full auto. "insurance reasons" so in response something called a "response trigger" was gaining popularity. it was TECHNICALLY not full auto cuz if you pulled the trigger and held it, it would fire 1 shot then stop. but if you held the trigger at a sort of partial pull sweet spot, it would basically full auto. could that be what's going on here? i honestly don't know if this is even still a thing in paintball but if it is, i could see people wanting it.
One of the members of my LARP team has one. It has performed well during plinking foam around the basement. But this video makes me interested to see how it holds up under stress
Second comment this one replying to the product itself. I like Airsoft, I think it's a good way to build familiarity with firearms, and to teach people interacting with others, team coordination and PLENTY of other things not worth listing here. I think its systems frankly have no place in Nerf as a hobby. I already was concerned over the designs we were seeing coming from a few companies like the Nexus and the Lynx, but I also realized they were still a distinct enough silhouette to not be dangerous. This is legitimately just a clone of an AR/M4 designed to shoot foam, it is unsafe and ironically feels like a company trying to begin a trend of gate keeping in the Nerf community much like Airsoft and Paintball can both have where its difficult to enter the hobby for a realistic price point for younger hobbyists. I applaud the attempt I really do, but nerf always felt like a very community driven sport that unlike hobbies like airsoft and paintball really were geared towards inclusivity and I think removing or losing that by going to these new platforms will likely kill the hobby even moreso than Nerf's current efforts with their most recent platforms and series launches
@@Pierre845 ironically i think the problem is not an HPA system itself. We've had them for years in nerf. Its this new wave of products that seem to be forcing nerf in the direction of airsoft and paintball with a standardized platform. Nerf at its core is individuality, different builds for different play styles and even load outs. This standardization while a nice idea is poorly thought out with regards to nerf, its community and its ideologies and thats the problem here frankly
No worries Drac, we got you. Came for the content, stayed for the integrity and cool vampire who likes to wear red. Best of luck and I look forward to seeing you on the battlefield.
This thing looks sick, shame it doesn’t deliver, so that and it looks really real might/will be an issue, but aside from that, it’s pretty slick, also I really like your rifle :)
Hi. I'm disabled and on a limited income. I can't pump a springer more than 10 times. A fly wheeler won't hit as hard as the springer. That's why I picked it. I saved up to by a M74. I got it so I wouldn't need to buy several blasters. I'll let you know how it goes. I plan to use a orange cloth cover. I'll send you a picture. There are ways to play in public. I plan on taking it to the local police so they can see it. With all the blasters looking and sounding the way they do. The M74 should fit in just fine. I hope... So from the Texas Rival league this is "Freeze," Have a good one
Yeah, seems like you'd get shot over this thing unless you treated it like an airsoft gun and only used it for closed fields. Definitely an option for the wealthy, die-hard nerfer that wants to pay to use this thing outside of an indoor range toy ans can find some competition willing to do the same. I'd say paint the black parts bright orange to make it more toylike, but a guy just got arrested here in the states for painting a handgun to look like a toy, so now people are likely to be on edge about that too. Honestly, this is outside of the "safe to play anywhere" aspect that separates airsoft from Nerf in my opinion, and I think you'd be better off just either going full airsoft, or sticking to the semi-milsim springers like the Nexus Pro.
you are ignoring that a) airsoft is illegal in some countries (such as australia) and b) we do actually play 300fps games on closed fields as a result. Just because it's not your cup of tea, doesn't mean that it's not someone elses. Also, he was operating it completely wrong... a 300psi slp reg on that ninja bottle is far below the 800psi required for proper operation.
@@UnimpressedAussie counter, this illegal in some parts of australia for being a firearm replica or being illegal airsoft for having an internal tank. so not helpful there either
Here in the UK we have HPA for Nerf for years, different sites have different limits of Joules power depending on if its semi only or full auto, we don't actually require orange barrel tips over here but 50% of the surface area has to be red, green, blue or yellow. . . Luckily there has been no injuries or issues as far as I know.
Some crazy sites like one at Bristol have a 300fps limit and that can be full auto but full face protection is mandatory and its over 16s only. . I have found 120fps limit is the most common for indoor cqb and games with mostly kids. . I use a shop brought HPA bullpup I picked up a few years ago as it can easily be adjusted to the games fps limits easier than swapping out springs, I know fly wheels can have variable speed but I just hate the noise, I like to be sneaky and my HPA setup is almost silent. . . It's as close as I can get to a nerf sniper that actually has some accuracy. . 100% agree with not making the nerf blasters look too realistic though. . . You only need one kid to be running around at the wrong place for it to be a disaster.
@@johnfarscape Hiya, I believe the high fps event you refer to is in Warminster (FFS), but run by the same individuals that run the Bristol games. Full auto at 300fps from a sealed barrel is actually illegal in the UK and is therefore not actually allowed at these games. Hope this helps, Pete
@@johnfarscape you're thinking of the laws for carrying replica firearms in public when you're talking about 50% bright colours. For Nerf, because even the Bristol 130fps games are played on private land (Mormon chapels) blasters can be any colour.
@@Pierre845 the high fps events I have been to are in Kent and the surrounding areas . . These have a 250fps limit, the 300fps event was in Bristol and was organised by Westminster Airsoft. . They were doing one at foam fest 2020 before it was cancelled and was advertised at 300 fps limit on the foam fest 2020 site. . Personally I find 250fps is perfectly fine, its probably the optimum for dart performance, my Axiom actually turned up being able to fire at 400fps, This just destroyed the darts and caused them to fly off all over the place with horrific accuracy.
@@childofthedarkrat the law is called RIF or realistic imitation firearms act. . Basically you can't even own a black water pistol now 😅, you basically need a nerf or airsoft club membership to purchase or own anything that is painted in "realistic" colours, if you get stopped or like in my case buy something and have it stopped by the postal service you have to give them your club details, they then email the club who give them the conformation that you attend and also the dates to stop someone just going once to obtain a RIF defence. . I believe getting caught purchasing a rif or manufacturing a rif by painting your blaster caries a possible 5 year sentence.
I feel like this is a conundrum. I feel like in the modern system, where things like Caliburns and Tier 0 flywheel blasters, this will still have an edge, but won't necessarily be game-breaking in all circumstances. Buuuut, I absolutely agree that the pricing is a negative for our hobby. Even now, a Nexus and a massive half-length refill pack will get you a very competitive platform, even at stock, at almost every field you go to for less than $75. The downside for me is that that's the exception, even base-level Hasbro pewpews run $35, and for anything competitive you're looking at at least $100 once you account for ammo
The worst part is, I feel like if they get this RIGHT, if they figure out the correct fittings and deliver a reliable, solid, high-performance, well-tested platform, say a mk. II version, it could be worth that price tag. It's pretty well-priced for a HPA airsoft pewpews, it's just so high for Nerf
I was fairly receptive to this blaster at first, and then I heard the price. Hoo boy, $400 is not cheap, and given what I've heard from this review, I went from "I could see maybe picking one up if they come down in price a bit" to "you'd have to pay me to take that"
I agree that HPA CAN be OP, and COULD "dominate" the field, but I don't see that in the near future, because, as you said, you have to buy the darts, gas, field time, and blaster. At that point, you're basically playing air soft, except you're not shooting little plastic BBs, but foam and rubber darts.
After researching quite a bit it seems you had problems due to it being from the first batch and or having lower pressure air. The manual goes over unlocking the sear that was locked in your vid. Would you consider doing another review of maybe one from a more recent batch? It would really help someone like myself in deciding to purchase one?
Even if the reliability issues *are* user error, the fact that they sent a review copy to a professional, hobby-leading reviewer with such lacking instructions that that user error made it into the final, formal review, especially considering one of the major criticisms in the review was poor communication from the manufacturer... not a good look.
Are the points about HPA in regards to all HPA (like, homemade Rapid Madness/BB Destinys that have had HPA hookups) or just about commercially available HPA blasters retrofitted for darts like this one?
The orange mk2 at the back! Waiting for the review of that!! Is it cheaper? Of the same quality? Same or better performance/internals? So many question!! Haha
Really appreciate the honesty and dedication. Love your content. Can't wait for the next endwar and FPT. This past endwar in Georgia was my first and it was amazing. Drove 16hours by my self and it was so worth it.
It's kind of a misconception that you can't own firearms here in the UK. You absolutely can, it's just a LOT more restricted than it is in the USA. You can't just walk into a shop and buy one, and there are restrictions on what kind of firearms you can own. Handguns are banned, for example, but you can own rifles and shotguns provided you have a license and have a shown reason for owning one like being a member of an accredited sport shooting club or if you use it for pest control on a farm etc. You also can't leave them just lying around. You have to keep them in a locked and secure gun safe when not in use.
I was really looking forward to getting this thing too. I wanted a blaster that can hit over 300+ fps easily and isn't a caliburn. Everyone is bitching about the way it looks and I understand their concern. That wouldn't have been a factor for me. As a huge Destiny 2 player and fan in general I was going to contract someone to make it look like a destiny auto/pulse rifle. Oh well so much for that grand idea.
This is a shame. That's a benefit of building your own HPA blasters - you have an intimate knowledge of how they work and can ensure better reliability, accuracy etc. Re comments about gameplay and balance - this is entirely a matter for game organisers to deal with. Whether banning, balancing teams, limiting fps / rof etc, there are plenty of approaches to integrating (or not) HPA - it's not just one thing that gets a thumbs up or thumbs down.
Yeah in my experience HPA certainly isn't pay to win even when it's a 300+ fps full auto monster. The darts are the limiting factor at that level of gameplay IMO which limits the potential of an HPA blaster. We balance teams based on blaster fps, rof and the player and have no issues with HPA dominating against things like the prophecy, NP or LS.
Even as someone into the idea of HPA, and who mostly nerfs on a private arena I have a hard time justifying this one. While I think had it worked it would kinda have fit in the field, I don't think this is probably one I'll let in. Not only does it appear to be way too unreliable, but If I an organizer runs one, it would encourage others to also do so. I can vouch for my own safety, but I don't wanna later hear a buddy was being dumb with one. So If I ever actually get hpa I'll build it myself, and probably put it in something less milsim.
Can't disagree with any of this - and in your last point you've described pretty much every HPA blaster in existence before this one. And yeah, this is one blaster that the person using it should definitely understand how it works.
HPA is really not that dangerous. The super core runs very well at 48psi. Mountain bike tyres are around that pressure. When you let the air out of those you don't lose fingers.
Yeah, not a huge fan of this. I think it makes our hobby less interesting on a gameplay perspective. Because like you said with this you don't need to really think about what blaster you bulid/use.
I appreciate this review because I havent seen much content on these blasters and they looked fun so I was gonna try and get one but Ill wait for version 2
Build your own HPA slap it in a nerf shell and enjoy .. don't buy this. I know in the USA, HPA is a kind of dirty / scary word. HPA isn't however any kind of pay to win or here to destroy the hobby in Europe. It is just another way to play that gets more people involved. It doesn't cost much more than some other high end blasters other people use. The highest cost being the paintball tank which some people already own.
HPA tanks are cheap (unless you go carbon). It's the SLP 2nd stage reg that's expensive. But once you have a tank, reg, and line, it'll plug into any HPA blaster
....as the gel balling industry has found out in Australia, the more you lean toward realism the more squishy it gets with beauracrats. Have something that looks like a toy and use camo material to cover your toy at games. I wish they worked that out here in Oz with gel balling.
yeah i completely agree, it isn't even necessarily the realistic blasters but the complete lack of non realistic alternatives. Just a few brightly coloured blasters on the shop wall would go a long way towards making the sport feel more friendly. Either way I've always figured that milsim doesn't depend on the blaster rather the situation. You can still wear camo fatigues, play realistic scenarios and use military tactics in paintball or nerf without the blaster being too much of an issue. Especially when you can paint them.
Actually, the way it works in QLD is that gel blasters are recognised legally as "replica firearms", and replicas are not prohibited or licenced, but restricted, requiring responsible behaviour from owners and allowing them to be acquired legally.
@@thoughtengine ..which is in accordance with the Department of Home Affairs Notice No. 2017/43 Each state were to make decisions based on their interpretation of immitation/replica firearms...not that the New South Wales police ran that line vs. Brad Towner. Hi drac! So i found something on Amazon called the ultra focus and was wondering if you had heard of it it says it’s an exclusive and is essentially an amp with pinpoint darts and a regulator kind of stock i think this is interesting and i hope you check it out in the future!
Excellent and fair review! I definitely appreciate you pointing out the potential issues with foam flinging something so realistic. Even a short distance away it could really cause problems for law enforcement not to mention parents who carry in public spaces seeing a threat to their children and families.
Milsig started as a magfed/milsim paintball company, trying their best to recreate real-steel pew pews for a rec paintball scene dominated by Tippmann (tournament scene's a different story). They branched out into airsoft, then into nerf, witch explains why this thing looks almost like a 50 cal AR. Other companies that went a similar route were RAP4, they ended up developing less-lethal and training equipment for the military and law enforcement; Tiberius, I believe they merged with First Strike, who made "rifled" paintballs pretty much, and they went on to take a large portion of the magfed paintball market. I'm personally a paintball player and engineering student, so I'm mostly following HPA nerf to take a crack at designing my own bolt system for nerf, just for gits and shiggles.
I'm just here because my 9 yrs old son and I share a youtube account and gotta say, I applaud you for your stance on the multiple points in there. Also to me.... that ain't no nerf blaster. Wont be getting one for my son. Cheers.
There are few occasions where I agree wholeheartedly with Drac, but this is one of them. My favorite thing about nerf is how the devs keep the game balanced.
Really appreciate your reviews and honesty. Have been following since December, looking forward to our first battle when we find one. We have a good stock of blasters mostly based on your reviews.
I object to toys that look like real steel (or polymer) and I despise real steel that has been made to look like a toy. I own both, I enjoy both, I think that blurring that line isn't going to do anything but make everyone's life more complicated and possibly endanger said life. I mean there is a reason that Entertech went out of business in the 80s.
So, im honestly not a fan of this. As someone who enjoys the foam flinging hobby, but also enjoys firearms, this is taking it a little too far. All it will take is one Karen looking at it the wrong way, calling the police, and tragedy to strike bc the officer called was too eager to pull the trigger. Real steel features in the hobby can be cool, but when your blaster looks close enough to a firearm that its almost indistinguishable from one, we've got some problems. The concept IS cool, but I think Ill pass. Would love to hear your opinions on it as a whole, Drac!
The jamming is actually a safety feature also I think why it’s not firing properly is because you didn’t try the bottle that screws on to the nerf blaster
Those expenses basically turn it into paintball. Im older than Drac and I've been playing paintball with hpa since the early 2000s. It was $25 to play plus $60 for a case of paintballs. $200-$800 for a marker. $75 for an auto hopper. $100 for a barrel kit.
I know milsig from paintball, which I think milsig made a modified version of the M17 paintball gun to be an airsoft gun, and from this I think some random company decided to convert that into a nerf gun. So yeah. This is expected if you ask me as the random company probably does not produce the actual mechanisms that fire the blaster and are trying to jerry rig some stuff to make it as a new product and rip some people off.
As someone who had a 57 kill streak (tag streak? we never say kill, why do we say kill streak?) with a pistol splat in an arena game: yeah, HPA full auto is going to change everything. I don't like it either, I like my oldschool shenanigans. If I want that kind of rate of fire, at that kind of FPS, it should be so unsafe they shouldn't let me within 5 miles of the field, as it should be. My take on HPA nerf? I wonder how far I could shoot a nerf missile with a pipe cannon. Probably pretty far.
Game organisers set rules for balanced gameplay and to that everyone has fun - what would you say to a pump or bolt-action or breech-loading HPA blaster dialled in to 150fps?
I wish you would have tried the original configuration first to see if it maybe functioned... I don't want to say better but at least functioned at all.
Now I need a Drac real steel channel!! Maybe on another platform? I would even pay for that! Grew up watching this channel and still watch it to this day and would love to see all of your different hobbies combined in one place. Either way I’ll keep watching and supporting!
While you did bring up perfectly good argument for the pros and cons of this blaster, I think you had a pretty biased opinion against it and are seriously trying to persuade your audience to stay away from it
Hey drac. Just curious what your thoughts are on resin printing in the hobby. Personally I think it's underrated given the print quality and look of the parts. Now durability is a problem on thin parts with some resins. But for most nerf related stuff the durability is beyond what you need. I currently have a Nexus pro that has been kitted up with resin printed parts and it runs just fine, albeit it needs a bit more tweaking to get it running perfect, and so does my printer/slicing methods, but otherwise good. Your thoughts?
Looks cool ngl, but for such a hassle you are better off playing airsoft that is a consolidated hobby by itself Also, thanks for your honesty Drac, this is why you are the best
Yeah darts should stay child’s play! Milsig is a paintball company and they do magfed markers making them more realistic markers for scenario play and magfed matches When you out grow the foam darts then jump into paintball hobby, usually played on fields or areas designated for the sport I could see how trying to play darts at your house with an hpa blaster or in city park could end badly Do one or the other don’t blend the two
I don't think this is designed to be shot in a park or someone's house. Please watch my most recent videos (in particular my Neutrino built) to see where HPA fits into the Nerf hobby in the UK
I played at my local college club. I was one of three out of 30 with modified blasters. id give out loaners to those who wanted them. Our community was fun, Id get tagged frequently despite my advantage bc it was alot of close quarters, where fps is alot less of a factor. I built an HPA longstrike with an xbz, and scar, and it was awesome. Most of the time I just sat in the back and shot when i felt like it. HPA is a problem in airsoft as well; it is borderline unfair compared to alot of AEG's even DSG's. I hope that this blaster finds homes of experienced nerfers who understand the power and thereby the responsibility of using one.

to me the main appeal of nerf has always been the goofyness of it.

@LordDraconical yo, nice AR build Drac
Hope you keep your AR and P226 clean
response to Drac's opening question, left hand rifle is an IRL project, mag well is properly shaped for an AR, muzzle is smaller, and the barrel shroud is clearly made to be swapped with the barrel being unsupported. Also worth knowing I've been shooting for ten years so I'm ABSOLUTELY biased in being able to spot a fake. most people are not

@@rwbynerd1012 id guess, though its possible the build is for competition shooting, it seems lightweight and at least partially stripped
I just made a bike pump powered pvc nerf cannon and its a wonderful time lol

As a fellow member of the old guard (13+ years) I really appreciate the asside regarding balance and the glass ceiling of the hobby. Until recently there was a similar feeling with flywhees reigning Supreme and the decision coming down to ammo type more than anything, so it's not impossible for the hobby to adapt a place for something like this, but a rushed milsim rifle that can't compete in superstock spaces, or in your case at all, doesn't really belong in a hobby that by design has a low barrier to entry.

What kind of 1st stage reg does that Ninja bottle have? If it's SLP (300 psi output) then it may be no surprise that the blaster does not perform - it requires 800psi input, whether bottle-on or remote-line.
Exactly right
Reg is always separate from the tank purchased. He would have to disclose the info on the regulator to better asses the situation
So....this is illegal in the UK.

@@dylanpage88 I don't own one, which is why I'm watching reviews on it? I think it's a fair comment to make that it's interesting?
DRAC PLEASE READ:
I believe the charging handle allows you to pull the bolt back if it gets stuck in the forward position (a jam).
I really don't think this is for children

I dont agree with the hyper realism, but Drac HONESTLY does not know how to use this product correctly, the beauty of HPA is it is a fully dialable system. the problem with this review is he clearly does not understand whats in his hands. The bottle stock would have had this blaster humming as it requires 800psi to cycle properly...
Thank you kindly.
@@LordDraconical Absolutely, fierce resistance to financially improved opinions should always be applauded!

Exactly
Please watch my most recent videos (in particular my Neutrino built) to see HPA fitting in wonderfully to the Nerf hobby in the UK
@@Pierre845 ironically i think the problem is not an HPA system itself. We've had them for years in nerf.
They should probably make a reduced-power model of this thing that looks more like a sci-fi alien gun or a paintball gun.

I believe the high fps event you refer to is in Warminster (FFS), but run by the same individuals that run the Bristol games. Full auto at 300fps from a sealed barrel is actually illegal in the UK and is therefore not actually allowed at these games.

@@johnfarscape you're thinking of the laws for carrying replica firearms in public when you're talking about 50% bright colours. For Nerf, because even the Bristol 130fps games are played on private land (Mormon chapels) blasters can be any colour.

Nah a decent high power FW blaster can compete. HPA is great for snipers but snipers are easy to deal with if you have decent cover and a good team.

Agreed!
Drac's brain when about to undo the quick disconnect "remember you like having hands and fingers"
HPA is really not that dangerous. The super core runs very well at 48psi. Mountain bike tyres are around that pressure. When you let the air out of those you don't lose fingers.
15:20, should add a forward assist to that bad boy, lol
I could do wonders with a couple shells of that. It was designed beautifully.
Yeah, not a huge fan of this. I think it makes our hobby less interesting on a gameplay perspective. Because like you said with this you don't need to really think about what blaster you bulid/use.
This is exactly what I am looking for to go into CQB Foam Blasting. I'll buy it as soon as it works well already.
Each state were to make decisions based on their interpretation of immitation/replica firearms...not that the New South Wales police ran that line vs. Brad Towner. Though the prosecution lost the NSW police still call them a firearm.
What WA Police did was off the wall.
I seriously don't think anyone should be shooting a 300fps anything at a child. Do you really think that is the target audience for this blaster?
Please watch my most recent videos (in particular my Neutrino built) to see HPA fitting in wonderfully to the Nerf hobby in the UK
I adore that red-pink metal
Really appreciate your reviews and honesty. Have been following since December, looking forward to our first battle when we find one. We have a good stock of blasters mostly based on your reviews.
I object to toys that look like real steel (or polymer) and I despise real steel that has been made to look like a toy. I own both, I enjoy both, I think that blurring that line isn't going to do anything but make everyone's life more complicated and possibly endanger said life. I mean there is a reason that Entertech went out of business in the 80s.
Guess that means you don't like nine out of ten airsoft products, right?
@@typehere6689 personally I don't think airsoft is a toy
So, im honestly not a fan of this. As someone who enjoys the foam flinging hobby, but also enjoys firearms, this is taking it a little too far. All it will take is one Karen looking at it the wrong way, calling the police, and tragedy to strike bc the officer called was too eager to pull the trigger. Real steel features in the hobby can be cool, but when your blaster looks close enough to a firearm that its almost indistinguishable from one, we've got some problems. The concept IS cool, but I think Ill pass. Would love to hear your opinions on it as a whole, Drac!
I'd rather own something like a Hummingbird for the money. Or the Lynx/Gecko loadout I already have lol.
as a dad who likes to nerf with my kids, I really appreciate your stance that when a toy looks like a gun it is not safe.
I can walk down to my local toyworld and pick up a cap gun that looks more realistic than this.
Frast!
I'm the best
Why no test with the included tank?
Now I need a Drac real steel channel!! Maybe on another platform? I would even pay for that! Grew up watching this channel and still watch it to this day and would love to see all of your different hobbies combined in one place. Either way I’ll keep watching and supporting!
I'm 90% certain that the sear is sheared and is causing the burst fire issue.
You're brutal honesty is why I keep watching! This was pretty tame compared to some of your Ultra reviews😉
While you did bring up perfectly good argument for the pros and cons of this blaster, I think you had a pretty biased opinion against it and are seriously trying to persuade your audience to stay away from it
AGREED
You're stock just went up 2 points in my book. Keep up the great work Drac
Love the honesty Drac
I have to ask, what’s that ar you have, I’d love to build one, absolutely love the red.
Not a air soft gun. It was a shell ejecting paint ball marker. Used custom m4 mags.
Wild!
Love the fact you told the truth about it..
That’s a paintball adapter on the back. It’s ripped of the tippman tmc or valken m17. I think, I play paintball and that’s actually kinda genius
Drac-Shows his ar-15 says pumped up kicks
Me-nervous sweating. Jk I know you are a good guy
I enjoy HPA and we allow it on our private field but this whole blaster experience really makes me nervous.
Hpa blaster: jams
Everyone: THE IMMERSION AND REALISM
Looks cool ngl, but for such a hassle you are better off playing airsoft that is a consolidated hobby by itself
Also, thanks for your honesty Drac, this is why you are the best
Good for you Drac!
Yeah darts should stay child’s play!
Milsig is a paintball company and they do magfed markers making them more realistic markers for scenario play and magfed matches
When you out grow the foam darts then jump into paintball hobby, usually played on fields or areas designated for the sport I could see how trying to play darts at your house with an hpa blaster or in city park could end badly
Do one or the other don’t blend the two
I don't think this is designed to be shot in a park or someone's house.
You should run an update video using the proper equipment mentioned for that blaster. Then I think the term unbiased would be fair.
Thank you for the truth and honest feedback.
Possibly. I’m big into airsoft aswell. And it looks like polar stars hpa stock. Pretty cool stuff
Thanks for the honesty! Love this vids!
.... I allways wanted a Nerf powered by Paint gun internals
Milsig makes magfed paintball and training rifles. there whole business is built realism and tactics so of course it was gunna look real.
